  1. ((((HUGS))))) It is hard in those situations. I agree about talking to your family and letting them know how you feel. I just got back from vacation with our family and extended family and it is hard when you are the only one with restrtictions. I did make sure that I had plenty of food that I could eat, though, so if there was a situation where they...

    ARCHIVED Upset

((((HUGS))))))) It can be very frustrating at times. Hang in there!
  3. I use Hellman's Light Mayo. It is gluten-free and has half of the fat & calories as the regular Hellman's.
  4. All Sweet Baby Ray's sauces are gluten-free. Montgomery Inn BBQ sauce is also gluten-free.
  5. DS saw the GI specialist on Friday and she wants to do the endoscopy & biopsy to confirm Celiac. I asked how many spots she will biopsy and she said 6. That should be enough, right? I have read that if they only biopsy 1 or 2, they may miss damage (if there is any). He should have it done in the next 2 weeks and then be able to get used to the...
  6. I have to agree with everyone here. Get a new dr or go back to your family dr. Even if you do go back to eating gluten for 2 months or longer, there is no guarantee that your biopsy will be positive and if it is negative, that won't rule Celiac out b/c the damage can be patchy or the lab may not be one that specializes in looking for Celiac. I didn...
  7. Yes!!! I just ran across some new Van's Waffles at Whole Foods that are Buckwheat with blueberries and raspberries and they ROCK!!! Says Gluten-free right on the box! Buckwheat is from the rhubarb family.
  8. I love these!!! I just had some last night for dinner. Everytime I make them DD thinks I went to McD's to get them!
  9. Yikes!!!! I am allergic to mold! That could be why I was sick after taking it! I was thinking of this thread last night while watching TV......I saw a new commercial for All Bran with yogurt crunch or something like that. It has all your body parts (stomach, intestines, mouth, heart, etc) dancing and singing "If You're Happy and You Know It Clap Your...
  10. I think, if I remember correctly, that Beano has gluten in it, doesn't it? I took that stuff 1 time trying to help with excessive gas a couple of years ago and it made me very sick I threw it out after that.
  11. Ortega will label gluten if there is any. I have eaten those shells before with no problems.
  12. I am in Ohio...I'll send off an email in the AM!
  13. That sounds great! I wish we could have Smirnoff Ice here!
  14. That sounds great!! I haven't had Chicken fried steak since I was a child!! My Mom used to make it all the time when we lived in Texas. I will have to give this recipe a try! Thanks for sharing!
  15. It is probably an infected taste bud. I have gotten them from time to time too. I usually make sure to rinse with Listerine a few extra times a day to help speed healing.
  16. Sounds pretty routine to me. DS can't even get his intitial appt with the GI until Aug 15th (9 weeks after his highly positive bloodwork came back). If they schedule his endo out that far after waiting that long to get in, I will have to start kicking some butt. In the meantime, load up on the gluten and learn about the gluten-free diet. This is...
  17. I try to drink 1 glass of cranberry juice a day to help with UTI issues that I have had in the past. I usually buy Ocean Spray b/c I know they are gluten-free. Well, my store was out of the 100% juice variety the other day so I picked up the Northland brand (also 100% juice) to read the label and it is actually labeled "gluten-free" on the side!! I almost...
  18. That is awesome! Bravo is one of my favorites that I have been avoiding since going gluten-free. Did they have gluten-free pasta on hand? I will have to contact my local store and inquire!
  19. I have had good luck at PF Changs, Molly Woos (Cameron Mitchell restaurant), Cheeseburger in Paradise, Bonefish Grill, Red Robin, First Watch....all have gluten-free menus. I have had sucess at restaurants with no gluten-free menu by using my dining cards. We did this while on vacation a few times. Oh. also Chick-fil-a and Wendy's (taco supremo salad....
  20. My son doesn't have the "typical" symptoms and it was very hard to convince his Ped to test him. He has occasional constipation, anxiety, ADHD like symtpoms and stomach pain 4-5 days per week. He has always been thriving, though, so the Ped didn't think there was any reason to test him. Boy, was he wrong. I just hope that this has opened his eyes to Celiac...
  21. We just did a stir fry last night that had short grain brown rice zuchinni yellow squash green beans mushrooms filet mignon sliced up You could add any number of things to that according to your likes and dislikes. You can't use soy sauce, but what about Braggs Liquid Aminos? I am not sure what is in it and don't have a bottle. Really you could...
  22. It is going to take a while to heal. As many say...the damage doesn't happen overnight, it takes sometimes 1-2 years to completely heal, if not longer. I was the same as you 1 month in. Now I have MANY more good days than bad. Also, a negative biopsy doesn't rule out Celiac....as Chelsea said they may have missed the damaged area. The biopsy can only...
  23. I am glad that you posted all of this. We are going to Kings Island in August for DH's company picnic and if I remember correctly, you can't bring in any outside food. I may just send off an email now to see what I need to do to bring my lunch in. Great ideas from you all!!
  24. The only time I had popping noises coming from my stomach was when I was pregnant. It could be gas moving around. I would mention it to your dr the next time you see him/her.
