ARCHIVED Holidays Are Tough - Feeling Sorry For Myself
wolfie replied to a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
((((HUGS))))) It is hard in those situations. I agree about talking to your family and letting them know how you feel. I just got back from vacation with our family and extended family and it is hard when you are the only one with restrtictions. I did make sure that I had plenty of food that I could eat, though, so if there was a situation where they... -

ARCHIVED Question About Endoscopy & Biopsy For Ds
wolfie posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
DS saw the GI specialist on Friday and she wants to do the endoscopy & biopsy to confirm Celiac. I asked how many spots she will biopsy and she said 6. That should be enough, right? I have read that if they only biopsy 1 or 2, they may miss damage (if there is any). He should have it done in the next 2 weeks and then be able to get used to the... -
I have to agree with everyone here. Get a new dr or go back to your family dr. Even if you do go back to eating gluten for 2 months or longer, there is no guarantee that your biopsy will be positive and if it is negative, that won't rule Celiac out b/c the damage can be patchy or the lab may not be one that specializes in looking for Celiac. I didn...

ARCHIVED Beano Commercial Mentions Whole Grain Breads
wolfie replied to Nantzie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yikes!!!! I am allergic to mold! That could be why I was sick after taking it! I was thinking of this thread last night while watching TV......I saw a new commercial for All Bran with yogurt crunch or something like that. It has all your body parts (stomach, intestines, mouth, heart, etc) dancing and singing "If You're Happy and You Know It Clap Your... -
ARCHIVED Beano Commercial Mentions Whole Grain Breads
wolfie replied to Nantzie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I think, if I remember correctly, that Beano has gluten in it, doesn't it? I took that stuff 1 time trying to help with excessive gas a couple of years ago and it made me very sick I threw it out after that. -

ARCHIVED White Bumps On Tounge.....tastebuds That Hurt!
wolfie replied to angel-jd1's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
It is probably an infected taste bud. I have gotten them from time to time too. I usually make sure to rinse with Listerine a few extra times a day to help speed healing. -
ARCHIVED Gi Doc Scheduled Endo 5 Weeks From Now, Is That Routine?
wolfie replied to Homegirl's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Sounds pretty routine to me. DS can't even get his intitial appt with the GI until Aug 15th (9 weeks after his highly positive bloodwork came back). If they schedule his endo out that far after waiting that long to get in, I will have to start kicking some butt. In the meantime, load up on the gluten and learn about the gluten-free diet. This is... -
ARCHIVED Northland Cranberry Juices.....
wolfie posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I try to drink 1 glass of cranberry juice a day to help with UTI issues that I have had in the past. I usually buy Ocean Spray b/c I know they are gluten-free. Well, my store was out of the 100% juice variety the other day so I picked up the Northland brand (also 100% juice) to read the label and it is actually labeled "gluten-free" on the side!! I almost... -

ARCHIVED Ttg And Negative Biopsy
wolfie replied to a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My son doesn't have the "typical" symptoms and it was very hard to convince his Ped to test him. He has occasional constipation, anxiety, ADHD like symtpoms and stomach pain 4-5 days per week. He has always been thriving, though, so the Ped didn't think there was any reason to test him. Boy, was he wrong. I just hope that this has opened his eyes to Celiac... -

ARCHIVED Ttg And Negative Biopsy
wolfie replied to a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It is going to take a while to heal. As many say...the damage doesn't happen overnight, it takes sometimes 1-2 years to completely heal, if not longer. I was the same as you 1 month in. Now I have MANY more good days than bad. Also, a negative biopsy doesn't rule out Celiac....as Chelsea said they may have missed the damaged area. The biopsy can only... -
I am glad that you posted all of this. We are going to Kings Island in August for DH's company picnic and if I remember correctly, you can't bring in any outside food. I may just send off an email now to see what I need to do to bring my lunch in. Great ideas from you all!!

ARCHIVED Obscure Noises, Burning
wolfie replied to Lister's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
The only time I had popping noises coming from my stomach was when I was pregnant. It could be gas moving around. I would mention it to your dr the next time you see him/her.
