ARCHIVED Does Your Child's School Offer Gluten Free Lunches?
wolfie replied to Sarah8793's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Yes, very good point. I don't know that I trust DS not to trade his gluten-free goodies for gluten-laden food either. I hope he learns to appreciate that he will feel much better if he sticks with the diet. -
ARCHIVED Does Your Child's School Offer Gluten Free Lunches?
wolfie replied to Sarah8793's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
There is something about this in the book I am reading right now by Danna Korn. The book is called Celiac Kids (or something like that). I am almost up to that chapter. I'll let you know what it says when I am done with it. DS will either have to pack his lunch everyday starting this fall or we will have to work with his school, if they are even willing... -

wolfie replied to wolfie's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Wow...thanks for all of the suggestions!!! I may go ahead and order him some from Grandma Ferdon's so that he can sample a few different kind. I won't share with him which ones are more $$! LOL!! Good to know about the Kinnikinnick english muffins, they carry them at our local Natural Foods market. -
ARCHIVED Buns....hamburger & Hot Dog
wolfie replied to wolfie's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thank you so much!!! I am going to place an order today!!! I did pick up some Kinnikinnick buns at the store today for him to try, but will get these, too. He tried some Ener-G high fiber bread today that was "okay". I like it a lot, but I am going to give some others a try for him. -
ARCHIVED Buns....hamburger & Hot Dog
wolfie posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
DS has started his gluten-free diet and wants some buns for his burgers and dogs. I just eat mine without b/c the buns that I did try weren't all that great. Anyone have any favorites? I just hate to waste a bunch of money on stuff that he won't eat. I guess I could make croutons or breadcrumbs out of them if he doesn't like them. TIA!!! -
ARCHIVED Will A Gi Give A Formal Celiac Diagnosis W/ Neg Biopsy?
wolfie replied to Sarah8793's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have gone back & forth on this issue myself. I was misinformed and went gluten-free before consulting a GI, who wanted to do the biopsy, but I was feeling so good, there was no way I was going back to eating gluten. Then, I saw my OB/GYN and filled her in b/c we had talked about my stomach problems in the past. She agreed that going back to eating... -

ARCHIVED How Many Of You Had Chronic Constipation As A Celiac Symptom?
wolfie replied to Lymetoo's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Me! I had mostly C with some D if I ate certain foods. Drs said it was IBS and to eat more WHOLE GRAINS and fiber. That made it worse, go figure?!? Finally this year my nutritionist asked if I had been tested for Celiac....thank God for her! Our Ped tried to tell us that unless DS had D then it was unlikely he had Celiac b/c he was in the 75th percentile... -
ARCHIVED Bacon
wolfie replied to BRUMI1968's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications

ARCHIVED The Hospital Is Feeding My Child Gluten!
wolfie replied to chrissy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
OMG...I am so mad for you!!!!!! I would go in and speak with the dietician in person and let her/him know how upset you are and why you want to take her home. Even your DD knows she can't eat the Rice Krispies! Good luck and please keep us posted. ((((HUGS)))))) -
ARCHIVED Ds Has Been Diagnosed With Celiac.....
wolfie replied to wolfie's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
He has had some vaque symptoms over the years......constipation when he was younger and still does occasionally. He has anxiety issues. He has stomach pain 3-5 times per week. He does have symptoms that go along with ADHD and that is why he is being evaluated. He has a lot of the characteristics of the inattentive and impulsive parts of ADHD. His grades... -
I am suspecting that I do. I ate out at Cheeseburger in Paradise the other night (which I do frequently) and ate the same thing that I always do, but reacted to something. There is no doubt in my mind that it was gluten....I haven't felt that bad in a long time. I had a salad (no croutons or blue cheese), burger with no bun and fries (dedicated fryer...

ARCHIVED Ds Has Been Diagnosed With Celiac.....
wolfie replied to wolfie's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Wow....thanks for all of the great ideas!!! I really appreciate it. We spent some time yesterday making up things he would be willing to eat for each meal. We are going shopping on Sunday and he meets with the dietician on Monday. I have a couple of Bette Hagman's cookbooks, I will check out the others, too. Question.....I have a Con-Agra gluten-free... -
ARCHIVED Ds Has Been Diagnosed With Celiac.....
wolfie posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
DS had his biopsy last Friday and it came back positive for Celiac. He will be going gluten-free this weekend. Any thoughts on starter foods from those of you with kids close to his age (he is 10). I have been eating gluten-free for 6 months, but he doesn't like a lot of the same stuff that I do. I tend to eat lots of veggies/meats/rice. He is more of... -

ARCHIVED Slacking Off Lexipro And Acid And Gerd Returning
wolfie replied to Lisa's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Is it possible that the Lexapro was helping you with anxiety and now that you have started to wean off of it, you are more stressed or anxious? I take Lexapro mainly for anxiety, so that is what made me think of that. Could you try Zantac for the acid reflux? I hope you feel better soon!!! -

ARCHIVED How Did You Get Your Diagnosis?
wolfie replied to emcmaster's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Well, I have complained on & off of stomach issues (occasional D, C, excessive gas, cramping) since DS was born 10 years ago. Most drs blew me off or said I had some food intolerance and to stay away from what was bothering me. Some things I cound narrow down, some things I couldn't. Finally I saw a nutritionist this year for help with recovering from... -

ARCHIVED Van's Waffles
wolfie replied to BamBam's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I do okay with the plain gluten-free ones, but I have been eating the Buckwheat gluten-free ones and think they are causing some issues. Not sure if it is the buckwheat or soy or what. I am intolerant to soy, but have been able to eat the plain gluten-free waffles with no issues in the past. -
ARCHIVED My Sons Ttg High And Has To Remain On Gluten Till Test
wolfie replied to mwapril's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Can they get you on a cancellation list to possibly get your son in sooner? My son didn't even have his first GI appt scheduled until 8/15, but I called and they got us in last Friday and his endoscopy is today now. My son's ttg was very high, too. I considered just doing the gluten-free diet and skipping the endoscopy, but b/c he is so young and the...
