  1. Not to confuse you even more, but the dietician that I just saw on Monday for my son said that the Oragnic Ketchup is okay, that she personally called and spoke with some dietician at Heinz and that the reason they were saying it wasn't gluten-free was b/c of the vinegar in it. Our dietician has been working with the gluten-free diet for 20 years and is...
  2. Wow....glad that you figured it out and that he can get to feeling better!!!
  3. Have they had the Celiac Panel run recently? My son's GI said the DD needs to be tested every 2 years OR if she is showing any symptoms.
  4. The biopsy can not rule out Celiac, it can only rule it in. The damage can be patchy and if the dr didn't do enough biopsies or get the damaged area, it won't show positive. Has he tried the gluten-free diet? I hope he finds some answers soon!
  5. I was just saying last night (knock on wood) that I haven't had a sinus infection an a long time, very unusual for me. I used to get them all the time before going gluten-free. Is it connected? I don't know, but I am not complaining! LOL!
  6. I went out to eat last night at Cheeseburger in Paradise (YUM). My Dad ordered the "Cheeseburger in Paradise", you know the one with the Heinz 57 and french fried potatoes.... LOL! Anyway, I started thinking and it struck me..WAIT! Heinz 57 is not gluten-free!!! No biggie for me b/c I never liked it, but I had just looked at the gluten-free menu that...
  7. My blood test results were very similar to yours (except they didn't run the total IgA or EMA on me). My dr told me to go on a gluten-free diet and what a difference it has made. I haven't felt this good in years! Then I saw a GI who wanted to do an endoscopy, but I couldn't fathom going back to eating gluten for that. The dietary response and bloodwork...
  8. The only rice I rinse off is the brown basmati rice I buy from Trader Joe's. The package says to rinse before cooking. I have never rinsed my other brown rice (Lundberg).
  9. Wow....that would be great!!! I agree about calling and asking some questions. Let us know what you find out!
  10. I have not been officialy diagnosed with Celiac, but with gluten sensitivity. I went gluten-free before I saw the GI, who wanted to do an endoscopy, but was feeling so good that I decided not to go back to eating gluten as the end result was the same ~ a gluten-free diet. I did have positive bloodwork and a positive dietary response and that is good enough...
  11. My son is now 10, but he had reflux as a baby and never slept well at all as a baby and didn't until we basically retrained him over the past year. Whether or not those were signs of Celiac then, I don't know. His symptoms at this age were vague and he was tested b/c of my issues. He had stomach pain 3-5 times per week, occasional constipation, some ADHD...
  12. I bought some brown rice flour tortillas the other day. DS doesn't like them, but that isn't saying much, he is MR PICKY! LOL! They are made by Food for Life. Hope this helps! I use the Gluten-free Pantry Favorite Sandwich bread mix that you can buy in a lot of grocery stores or online. Even picky DS likes it. You can make it in a bread maker...
  13. Usually about 4-6 hours for me. Patti......nice to "see" you!!! You look great!
  14. DH is Dermititis Herpetiformis (the skin version of Celiac). Did your Dr run a total serum IgA? The reason your IgA numbers are low could be b/c you have an IgA deficiency (some people do) or b/c they are normal. There is no way to tell without the total serum IgA number.
  15. I was told by my son's GI 2 weeks ago that the damage can only be seen by microscope. She took 8 samples from my son and he was diagnosed with Celiac last week. She did say that some hospitals have cameras that magnify the area and that some damage can be seen that way. She said that they don't have them at our hospital b/c they are very expensive and...

    ARCHIVED Red Robin

Oh man! That stinks!! I have had good experiences at RR for the most part. I would definintely write their corporate office. They even gave me a printed out gluten-free menu last time I was in there.
  17. I think that you are definitely on the right track. I am glad that you have seen such a great improvement in your daughter! I would continue to keep the diary and record all of the progress that you are seeing and then show it to the GI. If she is still having some pain when you see the GI, maybe they can help figure out why. She obviously has a problem...
  18. Good luck!! I think you are doing the right thing by getting him tested. I hope that if he is diagnosed, too, that his father goes along with the gluten-free diet.
  19. Good luck tomorrow!! Many prayers that all goes well. Lots of calming vibes coming your way! ((HUGS))

    ARCHIVED Writing To Old Doctors

I have actually thought about doing that, but haven't. I wasn't as sick as you, though. That GI that did your scope...I can't believe that he didn't do any biopsies from the small intestine while he was down there! I was told for years that I had IBS. I always brought up that I had the same symptoms and I was always brushed off. I just got used to...
  21. I asked my dr about this last week. I did fine on the fasting glucose test I had a few years back and explained that it always happens 3-4 hours after I eat. It is reactive hypoglycemia. They do a 3 hour glucose tolerance test for that, I think. She said the end result is to eat more frequent meals that are higher in protein so that they keep your blood...
  22. OUCH!! That is $$!!! I have no idea. Do you have a Whole Foods anywhere near you? They had them there last time I was there.
  23. I totally agree!!! They are awesome!!! Our local natural foods store carries these. I only get them every once in a while b/c they are $$, but SO yummy!!! *Best Bread = GFP Favorite Sandwich Bread *Best Bagels = Kinnikinnick *Best Pasta = Tinkyinada Brown Rice Pasta *Best Pizza = Foods by George or my own with Kinnnikinnick frozen...
  24. Okay, read the chapter in the book last night (or most of it ) It sounds like if your school offers lunch at all, they would have to make accomodations for your child's diet and provide safe food for him/her. The child has to have a note on file from his dr stating the need for the special diet. But you still have the issue of whether or not to trust...
  25. That is so scary!!! SO glad that you are all right. I agree with everyone about the Epi-pen. I always carry Benedryl with me for situations like this...I have horrible allergies and have had hives in my mouth recently for no apparent reason. I hope you can find some answers with a new dr! (((HUGS))
