ARCHIVED Easy Start in helping Malabsorption
Nikkiann posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hello! Not sure if this has been posted before, as I did not see it. But as you all know a lot of us have problems with getting enough nutrients and even those like me that don't, its also just as important. *Tangent* I think as a society, not just America but in the UK as I noticed while living there and I am sure other territories as well, we seem... -
ARCHIVED Have I discovered a cure for brain fog?
Nikkiann replied to Estes's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Atkins is bad for your body, ketosis for the most part is fine (depends on your body). People who intake too much fat while trying to go through ketosis are at risk for stones. I think your route is the best though to be honest. Sweet potatoes and some antioxidant enriched fruits are a good source of carbohydrates while having a low-carb diet. -
Not sure if any of you are from the Long Island area, but in Suffolk County there is a pizza place in Port Jefferson called Carnival that has gluten free pizza pies for 10$ (so cheap!) and they are very careful with cross contamination. They wash their hands, do it in a separate area in the kitchen, get the ingredients from a separate container, etc.

ARCHIVED Have I discovered a cure for brain fog?
Nikkiann replied to Estes's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I've been on an off keto for a few years now (unrelated to celiacs), and I have found my concentration and alertness is SO much better when I'm eating a ketosis amount of carbs (under 20 net) and a little bit more fat. I'm not sure if you exercise or not, but try some sort of exercise (I like lifting but others feel better doing cardio) and once your body... -

Hello! I'm glad you're feeling better. It says 12 weeks, but it can be very little. A few crackers a day or something like that. It's worth it, though, to know for sure and see other things too. Good luck! -

ARCHIVED Fatigue - Where does it come from?
Nikkiann posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hello! Just a quick question for thought. While I am fatigued often, my blood tests show zero deficiencies and great levels. I am not sure scientifically where the fatigue comes from if it isn't a malabsorbtion problem or something like that. Nicole -
Isn't it crazy how these things have so much affect on our body? I am also a little weary on eliminating stuff I don't have to. Its a common trend that once you fully eliminate something, trying to push it back into your body makes for one not so happy body!!

Hello! So after years of hearing my mother in law talk (what I thought was craziness) about nightshade veggies, after being diagnosed with celiacs, I did some more research. This is just an informative article, but a lot of stuff I have read has said that gluten intolerant people who still have been having a hard time with symptoms find success in eliminating...

Hello! I can't help much with specific places, but it does have a lot of great options. I loved in England for a bit, and especially London, just like NYC, there are a lot of places with gluten free options. My advice is to focus on the array of fruit/smoothie shops all across the UK. There are also a lot of delicious potato dishes!

ARCHIVED I Gained 60 Pounds Going gluten-free - Fat And I Shouldn't Be. :(
Nikkiann replied to ashley8809's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hey! So I know you said you eat low carb, but as someone who has been doing low carb diet for years and lost 90 pounds on it, it is a special science. Can you give us an example of what you eat in the course of a day? I have found that a lot of people's body cant handle low carb unless its at a ketosis level. Meaning, if you're not under 20 grams of carbs...- 12 replies

Hello! Two things for everyone here. I was recently diagnosed (through blood work, not yet have gotten the endoscopy), and have been super into fitness for a while. I always feel the best when working out. Firstly, almost all (except the peanut butter ones that are I think mixed with chocolate and stuff) are gluten free at LA Fitness! They do...

ARCHIVED Testing and Low BP
Nikkiann posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hello all! As you can see, I'm new here. I read around the forum and I haven't been able to pin point a similar post so I figured I would post. I recently had a blood test for Celiacs that came back with "strong markers". I've been only experiencing stomach problems for about a year and a half now. A bit backstory. I was overweight for a long time, so...
