ARCHIVED Where To Eat At Walt Disney World
Laura--G replied to suepooh4's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Hi!! We love Disney World! Call ahead and talk to guest relations. You can make reservations in advance for gluten free food at a lot of their restaurants. They will give you a list of restaurants that have gluten free food. They are very gluten-free friendly. When we were there last May they had gluten free rice crispy treats and brownies at the bakeries... -

ARCHIVED Does This Sound Like Celiac To You?
Laura--G replied to Laura--G's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
So he was at the doctor when I posted that. The doctor said he's sure it's IBS and scheduled a colonoscopy. He said it doesn't sound like Celiac. I still think it does. Luckily, my friend said he really wanted the blood tests anyway so they did them. -
ARCHIVED Does This Sound Like Celiac To You?
Laura--G posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
While my son was already diagnosed with Celiac, he never had symptoms. He is a Type 1 Diabetic and his Endo tested all her patients and, luckily, we caught it early. So it seems strange that I am here looking for answers for someone else. I just recently met someone who I think may have Celiac. He is 19 and about 5'10 and weighs 115 pounds. The first... -

That's the 2nd time I've seen them mention it! The first time she was having guests over and they were making dinner. She said something about Buzz being out of town and how she normally had to make that dinner gluten free because he couldn't have gluten. I love that show!

ARCHIVED No Symptoms?
Laura--G replied to maxdad's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My son is also a Type 1 Diabetic. His endo tests all her patients for Celiac. Like your son, he tested positive without symptoms other than being cranky. He's a whole different kid now though. The doctor told us that he would have had physical symptoms eventually, but it's better to catch it early. She also said out of her diabetic patients 1 in 1... -

ARCHIVED Questions For Utah Celiacs
Laura--G replied to Sweetfudge's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
The owner of Against the Grain told me you can buy pizza crusts there and take them to a pizza place (I forget the name but I'm pretty sure it's in the same shopping center as her but you should definitely ask her) and they will put the sauce, cheese and toppings on and cook it for you. -
ARCHIVED Frustrated With gluten-free Bread Options
Laura--G replied to kimber's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I know how you feel. My son hated every bread he tried. When we moved to Salt Lake we went to a gluten free store (Against the Grain) and the owner told me to try Charlotte's bread. When I picked it up it was actually soft!! I wasn't expecting that, since most gluten-free bread isn't. It has honey in it and tastes great. I don't have celiac and now... -
ARCHIVED Traveling To Salt Lake City In November
Laura--G replied to Lymetoo's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
We moved to SLC about 2 months ago. We haven't been to very many restaurants but my son (who is the only Celiac in the family) really likes Spaghetti Mama's because he can have gluten free pasta there. -
ARCHIVED Weaning Onto Rice Milk?
Laura--G replied to yudsmom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I had the same milk issues with my son. I decided (mainly because he was teething OUCH) to stop breastfeeding and pump instead. My son was allergic to so many foods it seemed everytime I introduced something new he got sick. The doctor said rice milk would be ok after a year and a half to two years but since he couldn't/wouldn't eat much else I kept giving... -

ARCHIVED ? For The Parents - Re: Food Gifts
Laura--G replied to skigirl's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I was kind of hoping you would say that. We just moved to South Jodan Utah a week ago and my son is 8 and has both Celiac and Diabetes. It would be great for him to meet another kid here who is like him. Also, I need to know which doctors are good here. Please message me or have your neighbor message me if you are interested in helping me! That would... -

Wow, what a good neighbor. I see your username is skigirl, where do you live if you don't mind me asking? Here's a dish my son loves: 1 lb ground beef 1/2 lb italian sausage (you can leave this out an add more ground beef if you want) gluten-free vegetable spiral noodles spaghetti sauce (gluten free of course) 1 can tomato sauce 1 lb mozzerella... -
ARCHIVED Diabetes Dx
Laura--G replied to ryebaby0's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I do feel bad for you. I feel your pain. My son was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes first (when he was 3) and Celiac this year, he's almost 9. On top of that, he's allergic to peanuts, fish, eggs, apples and he has athsma. I actually thought life was great when I had the Diabetes under control and it wasn't so bad because he could still eat a lot of things... -
This is so strange to me since I had my youngest tested and his IgG came back strong positive but everything else was negative they told me he didn't have Celiac. They told me the IgG test had the most false positives and if the IgA was negative not to worry about it. My oldest had already been diagnosed and we decided to get the other son tested when we...

I'm not sure how many of you have children with both Diabetes and Celiac but my son was diagnosed with Celiac in March and he had gluten on accident Monday. His blood sugar levels have been INSANE since then. I'm not sure if it's the gluten since this is the first time I know for certain he's had gluten since being diagnosed. He's also being super emotional...

ARCHIVED New Problems With Daughter....
Laura--G replied to taweavmo3's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I agree with the person who said you should go ahead and "be that mom." When my son was 3 he started going to the bathroom constantly. Then he started being very thirsty. He could put away more water than I could as an adult. I called his doctor on a Tuesday and her office said people always think their kids have Diabetes when they start going to the... -

ARCHIVED Anyone Use Asmanex?
Laura--G posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
My 8 year old has Celiac. He was diagnosed with Asthma yesterday and they gave us Asmanex. He spent most of today in the bathroom. I called the 800 number and they told me they can't say it's gluten free because of their suppliers. Anyone use it and have issues with it? I'm wondering if maybe he just ate something wrong.
