  1. my sister was on an alkaline diet for a while... I don't think it was exactly like yours but I know there was a chart that listed out foods and put them in categories (low/medium/high on either the alkaline or acid side).. and I know the purpose was the same: to get her system less acidic.. I don't think she's still on it now but I can't keep up with...
  2. most colleges generally require all freshmen to have a meal plan, but you should be able to pretty easily get an exception to this for medical reasons... my sister had some exceptions made for her as a freshmen since she kept kosher...
  3. I've always been irritated by Tide since I was a kid as well... never had a problem with anything else...
  4. so it looks like there are a number of you who have felt better after stopping all vitamins/supplements even when they didn't have any identifiable "bad" ingredients... I can't help but think I'm just bugging out by worrying about the possibility of negatively reacting to supplements but there's a part of me that wants to say I was feeling better a few months...
  5. on a number of supplements I'm taking, magnesium stearate is listed as one of the items the supplement is "free of" along with gluten, casein, preservatives, artificial colors, etc.... why is it listed here? the reason I ask is a new supplement I was recommended to take (a digestive enzyme) has magnesium stearate and none of the supplements I'm currently...
  6. this might have already been discussed but there's about 208 too many pages for me to look through and probably hundreds of conversations as well.. rachel (or anybody else with similar concerns), I've seen you mention you thought you were reacting to different supplements you were taking... did all of these supplements have an identifiable ingredient ...
  7. I don't know about restaurants since I've been avoiding eating out for the time being.... I went to Outback a month after I went gluten-free, and they are one of a number of chains that offer gluten-free menus as for food stores, wegmans and whole foods both have a number of stores in new jersey (I think they both have store locators on their websites...
  8. I would strongly consider trying threelac if what I'm doing now doesn't work, but I think the SF722 is working... I was told to expect detox symptoms and I certainly have been feeling them for the past 2 weeks... I haven't cheated (on the gluten) intentionally since I went gluten-free in January... the candida's likely been present for a while...
  9. I lived in bethlehem a couple years ago when I was at college but didn't go gluten-free until earlier this year... there's been a couple posts on this site about good experiences eating gluten-free at Red Robin, and there's one off 22 or somewhere between bethlehem and allentown...
  10. my legs and back have been worse overall since I started the antifungal... I've had leg pain for a while (1-2 yrs) but generally haven't had back pain since last year.. but I have noticed both have worsened in the past 2 weeks with the leg pain being pretty bad at times.. I've also had much worse and constant of a headache while on this antifungal... headache...
  11. I have no problem cutting out rice and sweet potatoes, but if I do that, I will basically be eating zero carbs... is this okay? I have blood sugar issues (reactive hypoglycemia) so I've been eating high protein for a long time but have tried to also eat carbs with every meal because I was worried I wasn't eating enough carbs after initially going gluten...
  12. I haven't tried a number of foods yet with the current restrictions in my diet but I'll add on some things I've liked... *Best Crackers = the Tamari Rice Snaps were good (I think they were called "tamari", haven't had them in a while due to the soy... toasted onion are decent and free of common allergens) *Best Cereal = the Panda Puffs cereal was pretty...
  13. is it normal (or at least not abnormal) to feel worse my second week on the antifungal than first week? I've felt much worse the past few days as I increased the dosage... I've only been on it two weeks to the day, and I was told to expect to feel bad the first 7-10 days or so.. I'm assuming that I'm feeling bad due to detoxing from symptoms tied to the...
  14. My nutritionist (whose son is a celiac) also recommended taking activated charcoal... not specifically for sleep, but just generally speaking after having a gluten or food reaction.. when you take it at night, do you wake up feeling off at all? I know it will theoretically deplete vitamins as well so I'm just curious as to if there is any grogginess or...
  15. digging through the archives huh? I forgot about this post but thanks.. I might give it a try... if I remember right from the Amy's posts, it seems that certain products from Amy's are more likely have cc issues than other products...
  16. I've been trying to eat carbs with every meal for a while now to have a more balanced protein to carb ratio (I hadn't been eating carbs with many meals for a while on this diet, just veggies and protein)... should I cut back on carbs again to help treat the candida? I'm eating mostly rice (or rice crackers), sweet potatoes, some beans and occassionally white...
  17. I get them sometimes as well.. don't know if I really used to get them before going gluten free (too many things/symptoms to try and recall), but I want to say that I occasionally did.. I certainly have been getting them in the past month or 2 though... more frequently than I ever remember getting them I didn't think of connecting them to food until I...
  18. I have been on a modified elimination diet since January and am now focusing more on the candida. I started taking SF722 yesterday (1 x 2 now until I build up to 3 x 3) and felt awful afterwards. I don’t feel anywhere near as bad today although I still feel somewhat off. I was informed I would probably feel bad the first 5 days or so, and I’m actually opt...
  19. you eat amy's sauce with no problems? cause you're avoiding soy, corn, gluten, dairy, etc. as well, right? also, I've avoided all amy's products for a while due to the cross contamination concerns, but you guys have been fine with Amy's tomato sauce?
  20. I'd also prefer if it was free of corn (I think I remember somebody saying many tomato sauces had corn) but I'll take suggestions either way since I'm gonna challenge corn prior to a general food test panel in a week or 2.. thanks
  21. I got some ramapo gluten-free beer at whole foods in middletown in the past... they might have another gluten-free brand by now, If I remember right they were going to be adding a different one... I'd call first as well if you're going to go down there because they sell out of it...
  22. the krispy kreme near where I work closed down too so I guess jersey really doesn't care for them... I never heard of them until a few years ago either and didn't care for them much when I tried them... I do however pass a dunkin donuts every 5 minutes and wouldn't mind a glazed or boston creme donut.. or something from the other hundred fast food joints...
  23. has anybody had a gluten reaction to drinking bombay gin before? I definitely reacted to something over the weekend seeing as how I'm still out of it but am not positive it was the gin since I also ate out for the first time in months... the statement from bombay seems like a disclaimer, and I'm not sure if gluten would actually be present in the finished...
  24. Well, I guess that may explain why I've felt like s@#t since Monday morning. I figured I had a delayed reaction to something from Sunday night but thought it was butter that I suspected was used in my meal. I did have Bombay Sapphire gin though. I never even drank gin often (I prefer rum or vodka) but thought gin was a safe choice.
  25. is xanthum gum always derived from corn? I thought I finally went corn-free a couple weeks back but still have at least one thing I eat with xanthum gum in it..
