  1. I'm so glad there are others like me. In reading this thread you are all discribing me. I don't know anything about Aspergers but I'm going to look into it. I was always painfully shy as a child. People would always comment that I never talked. I think alot of times I would just say something to say something. It never came easy. I'd return from...
  2. Andrea and rinne, I don't do well with soy at all and I did listen to a program on our public radio on how soy is bad for you. So I'm well aware. Now I'm thinking if I ate beans to fill in the void I'd blow up like a thanksgiving day balloon. I'm sure I was just frustrated this morning because of the lack of sleep and the craving for more carbs...
  3. Thanks Usala, you have alot of wisdom. I do tend to go in extremes. I know I wouldn't do well with a high carb diet either because I'm hypo-glycemic. So any simple carbs would be out. Now with summer in full swing and the farmers market starting it would be nice to learn how to coook some vergetarian dishes. All I know is what I doing now isn't working...
  4. There has been such an improvement in my health since I went gluten free and I am thankful for all the support in boards like this one and there is so much information in books and articles I don't think you can read them all. I'm always trying to perfect my eating habits however. I know I can feel better then I do. My energy level is still low and don...
  5. Gastroparesis is a disorder in which the stomach takes too long to empty its contents. I'll get this way often. It has two causes that I know of. One is a complication of type 1 diabetes. Diabetes can damage the vaus nerve if blood glucose levels remain high over a long period of time. It causes a chemical change in nerves and damages the blood vessels...
  6. This guy is the funniest comedian EVER! I couldn't breath I was laughing so hard about his hot pockets routine. I loved it. I wish I could see him live. Ellen often talks about how when they serve pizza by the time you get it you're so hungry you shove the first piece in your mouth only to burn the roof of your mouth with the chesse....everytime. Sorry...
  7. On Food Network, Giada did a recipe for Espresso Zabaglione, which is WONDERFUL. It's basically a cooked custard made from egg yolks and sugar that you mix into your coffee instead of milk. I add some chocolate too and it's the best mocha I've ever had. Really creamy and rich tasting. Even better than heavy cream. And really the base of it is just the egg...
  8. From reading on the MSG site it looks like most of them are also sensitive to either sulfites or tyramine or both. I havent been able to determine if I'm sensitive to sulfites or not because I buy stuff that is "unsulphered" just to be safe. I can only tolerate bananas occasionally...usually not. I react to avocados, all fermented products, cheese, yogurt...
  9. I did try the SCD diet for a week and decided it wasn't for me. I think I could go back on if I worked on the foods that work and eliminate the foods that don't. I don't know how you can heal with this diet though if your not eating yogurt. I was making the yogurt like they say but I would mix it with some gently cooked fruit and it was too high in carbs...
  10. Let me see Fruits, Veggies, and brown rice. High in fiber. If you've not been eating like this before your body has to get used to it. It just takes alittle time. Your making good choices though, your body will get used to it before you know it and start to make those enzyems you need to handle the fiber. Gail
  11. Being dizzy can happen just because your heart is racing. Its like a panic attack. I would suspect the sausage had MSG in it. That would make my heart race because I'm very sensitive to it. It's also common to alot of celiacs. Another warning, MSG is often hidden as an ingredient under different names. Its frustrating. I rarely find sausage that I...
  12. Nini it must be wonderful to be rid of all that weight. I think the people that gain weight are those that had all their food go right through them. Now they are actually digesting and assimilating their foods,..... which is a good thing. I lost weight on gluten free choices because a big chunk of my diet was gone. I'm rather picky about what I put...
  13. Being wheat free is a decision made by alot of people who want a healthy diet. I'll read alot of web sites about the paleolithic diet because it's very incouraging about the "dangerous wheat" grains along with other grain. I can see why people will stay away from it. Sprouted grain bread and sour doughs are sometimes chosen by those who follow this diet...
  14. I will sometimes get swollen glands in my neck the next morning, actually I'll feel it coming on during the night. I just expirenced this when I tried including oats back into my diet. I felt ok eating a small amount but then being alittle over enthusiastic I ate oatmeal cookies too many I'm afraid, I got the swollen gland thing. I think it was an overload...
  15. MSG is more frightning to me than gluten because my reaction to it is worse. My reactions are my test. I haven't ate at a chinese restuarant since 1980 where I would get my worst reactions. If you google MSG you'll get alot of info on it. It's hidden under other names like: hydrolyzed soy protein, autolyzed yeast, carrageenan, sodium caseinate, torula...
  16. Foods that have Mono Sodium Glutamate will make my heart beat fast. I can't have canned soups, chips like Doritos, frozen pizza's, all kinds of sausages and lunch meats so many things. Mostly foods that are convient, prepared or "have alot of favor". You might want to check this out. Gail
  17. Yes I did see it. I suppose people think all celiacs are crazy killers now. It was interesting to actually see blunted villi. I would love to have a picture of healthy villi and next to it the damaged blunted villi on my refrigerator. That would take away any urge to eat gluten. Ugghh.
  18. I agree with Nini. The Chiro will know what to adjust {its in the neck area} when you tell him/her your index finger is going funny. So you really don't need a x-ray, and I would insist on it. Pick a doctor that's been in practice for awhile. If you have any questions I can ask my DH who is a chiropractor. gail
  19. I've tried New Grist, made with sorghum and rice. Its ok but I would rather have rolling rock anyday. I usually drink a beer when I have a pizza or sometimes with taco's it really hits the spot. New grist is on the sweeter side and alittle stronger then I'm used to. Yeah its hard giving up beer, or good tasting beer. So is it the hops in beer or wheat...
  20. Are you drinking too much coffee. Sometimes when the acidity is too high in stomach foods will make you sick especially the first things you eat in the morning. Fruit is also high in acid which adds to the problem. Try eating foods that are alkalizing and maybe some anti acids for awhile. I know its hard to advise less coffee when your almost depending...
  21. Karen, Sorry to hear what the doctor said about being on Prednisone for so long. It would of been nice if the Doctor could of told you more though after going through all that. Don't get it why can't you see through the water,......anyway I don't know what I'm talking about either. I'll be praying for you in June. Keep strong. {{hugs}} gail
  22. I don't know if you would want to do this or not because its alittle pricey but I take SAMe. I take 200 mg.s three times a day. Its helps me tremendously. It's also good for joint pain and liver health. I decided to go this route because I had the joint pain in my hips and wanted to try something naturally before it got any worse and had to see a doctor...
  23. Yvonne, I'm so glad you found out what is causing the pain and bloating. Did you get any other information as to why it got that way. I suppose you have to stay away from things like citrus and tomatoes etc. I'll get acid stomach pretty easy and if I have spaghetti sauce on polenta [which I love] I pay the price with a round of Prilosec. At $20 a...
  24. I stopped eating apples this fall because whenever I would eat one I'd get burpy and then get a headache/nauseous feeling. I know these apples were not waxed because I bought them off a farm. Come to think about it I've had apple pie since then and didn't get the same feeling. Hmmm maybe the peeling is the culprit or being cooked changes it. I've had...
  25. Hey that looks good. I wish I had that store in my area. Its nice to have those things when your in a time crunch. gail
