  1. I actually do have a few local celiac friends, two are from the board, Guhlia and Sunnydyrain. One is a woman I met at my dentists office, she works there. We joined the support group together but we did not rejoin this year. She actually made the bouquets for my wedding in November, she is very crafty.
  2. So at the hospital today they were celebrating some kind of tradition with this pudding. I turned down the pudding and told the woman I had allergies, she asked me to what and I said I have celiac disease and this has wheat in it. She told me she had celiac too and was rather new to it. She was diagnosed about a year or so ago but had recently moved to our...
  3. Well here I am home in bed with a stomach bug....it came on quickly too, right before lunch I felt a little yuck, than I went back to my desk and I was running to the bathroom, my coworkers were going to drive me home, they told me I was very pale. So I felt better and I came home and here I am....feeling gross! The stomach bug made its rounds through the...
  4. So John is on his way back to the dr, his family dr, yesterday he was seen in our hospitals clinic. They gave him Cipro, which he started taking, now he has a rash going up his arms which is itchy and huge. He also feels floored as he describes it to me. So now he is off to the dr. Hope he gets better soon. I am really worrying about him.
  5. Lisa, thanks for sharing, soon it will be grilling season again
  6. I always miss the Weds show since we watch wife swap.
  7. good for you I hope this helps him. It is a big shock for anyone Good Luck on your efforts.
  8. Morning Nikki I hate getting my hair cut. I just got it highlighted and cut 3 weeks ago....it was layered which I do get done frequently. I did blonde and red highlights which was a big move for me....I am starting to like it now. The cut....I think the layers are all off, looks very strange, unlike a layer I ever did before. Then to top off the shock...
  9. For me it was triggered when I was about 20. I was officially diagnosed when I was 22. It gets easier though, even if it seems like you will never get a grasp on it. This board has been a lifesaver for me, the members on here have so much to share, we have some very talented bakers who can change normal recipes to gluten-free ones. We have members who...
  10. LOL! made me laugh tonight Landen is smiling tonight and seems to have a little more energy. Jen does not have to work until Tuesday evening so if he is doing much better, she will go to work and he will stay with us. Instead of dragging him out in the cold to the babysitters. John is not so well, hopefully in time. The wind is still whipping my...
  11. I understand where you are coming from Larry, sometimes I will read a label at the store and think it is fine....and get home to find it to say barley or wheat.....I have been doing this for years and I still miss things. Its one of those you learn something new every day deals
  12. yep Necco ones are safe, those are the only ones I ever see in the stores, which company makes the other type so I can be on the look-out?
  13. Sillies, I am going downstais to visit. Landen has RSV, hopefully he will not end up in the hospital. He was allowed to come home. The wind is blowing very hard, I believe it feels we can lift up and land in OZ tonight... I'll update you all when I come back upstairs. Thanks for all your thoughts, I may have never met you guys but I have...
  14. Hi Robin, I am not in NJ, so I wont be so much help, sorry. I shop at Shop Rite when we come down to Wildwood in the summer, at that store the gluten-free items are mixed right in with regular products, but there is a small yellow or orange sign underneath the shelf where the price tag was. I know $6 is nuts for a mix! I have to tell you I do buy a mix...
  15. I do share a kitchen with a non-celiac who still does eat gluten. When I got diagnosed I replaced all my pots and pans that were scratched and some of my old utensils. I bought a new toaster just for me. I only buy that gladware disposable tupperware so I eliminated a lot of costs by continuing to use that, I don't have a good track record with tupperware...
  16. Oh Sillies no good news to report today.... John is very ill again with bronchitis..... Landen the baby below is in the ER the Dr feels he may have RSV....which can be very bad for a small baby. I just got back from the store so I can make him some homemade soup...John that is.
  17. Ya know I just saw that last time I went to visit...I wonder why they went out. Although the Dickson City location is smack dab in the middle of a ton of other places to eat. We don't have on in Harrisburg though do we?
  18. Boy I missed some silliness today. We got some errands done and my neighbors baby is very sick below us. SO I spent some time with her, the baby is supposed to spend the night at our place tomorrow night into Monday since she has to work unexpectantly, so we will just bring him with us to the hospital in the morning, his mom works as a nurse 3rd shift and...
  19. I agree, I commend you for taking charge of your family's health. I would be doing the same thing if I were in your shoes
  20. I'm in the Harrisburg/Hershey area.
  21. If you have a Wegmans near I know there is a few in NJ, they have big gluten free section and they label all of their house brand products gluten free, it looks like a orange circle with a "G" on it.
  22. Morning Sillies, woke up to a snow covered ground this morning...looks pretty though. Gotta get some much needed cleaning done. see ya all later.
  23. That I never knew, where did you get that info? I am not questioning it, I just cannot believe it. We actually do not go to the movies often, they got way too pricey, and that is before snacks and such.
  24. I will send them later tonight, they are on my home computer
