ARCHIVED Tried Neocate 1+ In Feeding Tube Last NightTCA replied to TCA's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs Thanks for the info. We tried soy formula a long time ago and she got very sick. It might be worth trying again. I looked it up on the web and I will bring it up again next week at her dr. appt. I also did some research on the Colostrum. The only problem I see with it is that it is Bovine. I looked further and it does contain whey and casein. She has...

ARCHIVED Tried Neocate 1+ In Feeding Tube Last NightTCA replied to TCA's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs 1 - I'm not opposed to donor milk if it comes to that, I just doubt we're going to be able to find donor milk that is gluten, egg, and dairy free. 2 - thanks for the encouragement. I just went and checked out the site you mentioned and I joined. I hadn't seen that particular part of the site and was excited. One mom on there has 2 kids with heart defects...

ARCHIVED Tried Neocate 1+ In Feeding Tube Last NightTCA replied to TCA's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs I've never heard of the supplemental colostrum. Where can I get this. What is it, really? My guess would be that the boy outgrew the allergy, but if the colostrum helped him gain weight, I'll try anything!!!!! My son was also a poor eater before going gluten-free. Now he eats like a little pig. I nursed him until he was 20 mos, but at the time it...

ARCHIVED Tried Neocate 1+ In Feeding Tube Last NightTCA replied to TCA's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs She's had 4 barium swallow tests and all have shown her anatomy to be normal, with the exception of the sliding hiatul hernia. Both my fahter and my mother in law have very sensitive gag reflexes, so part of this may be inherited. The nipple she will take is the cheap hospital ones. It's strange, but I guess she learned to take a bottle on those and just...

ARCHIVED Tried Neocate 1+ In Feeding Tube Last NightTCA replied to TCA's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs She gags on ANYTHING that doesn't come through a bottle. She can suck the bottle and do fine, but it has to be a certain nipple or she gags on it. I mix rice ceral, bananana or avocados in with the milk for extra calories and she does fine with this. The thing is that she gags when food is nowhere around too. There's no ryme or reason to it. She also...

ARCHIVED Negative Test Results, What To Do Now?TCA replied to a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs Justine, Welcome to the site. I'm glad your son is so much better. I had a foster son for a while who had lots of accidents. After lots of testing, they found that he had an impaction about the size of a grapefruit. he was on both laxatives and enemas for a month to get it out and now he's normal. It was really hard for him because he was a teenager...

ARCHIVED Tried Neocate 1+ In Feeding Tube Last NightTCA replied to TCA's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs Thanks guys. I started eliminating eggs and milk last Monday (5/15). I finally got to talk to the allergist's office this afternoon. They said I should eliminate eggs and milk for 2 weeks, then add one at a time back to see what reactions she has. I need to add them one week apart. I already see an improvement in her eczema, except the day after the...

ARCHIVED Tried Neocate 1+ In Feeding Tube Last NightTCA replied to TCA's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs Key - thanks for the advice. I have been doing just as the doctors and dieticians have told me on her feeds when it comes to the formula trials. She is 13 mos. old, but very tiny. she looks like about a 4 mo. old. She has pulmonary atresia with a large VSD. Everything was rerouted last April. She had a lot of complications and I now think celiac was...

ARCHIVED Hydrocodone, OxycodoneTCA replied to TinkerbellSwt's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications You said you didn't eat much, but these are some pretty strong drugs. maybe it's taking them without food that is bothering you????? Hope you feel better soon.

ARCHIVED Tried Neocate 1+ In Feeding Tube Last NightTCA replied to TCA's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs That's a good idea for a homemade one. I guess that's kinda what I'm doing with the avocados and prunes. The nutritionist replied to my e-mail this morning and she's calling her gastroenterologist. Meg goes back to him next week and we'll form the next plan from there. She feels great today, though. I know I don't want to stop pumping, I just want to...

ARCHIVED Is It All Or Nothing?TCA replied to misgiss's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs To give you an idea of how careful you need to be, my son has been glutened accidentally when 1) a dog licked him on the mouth after eating at my parents' house 2) using not gluten-free hand soap before eating 3) eating icing out of a container that was used on a cake, yet had no visible crumbs. These are all things we learned the hard way, but it's just...

ARCHIVED Casein Elimination DietTCA replied to mart's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs I just started eliminating milk and eggs from my diet last week for my daughter and haven't seen much change yet except for her eczema getting a little better. I don't have her asking for it, though, so it's much easier on me. have you tried to distract your son with df treats? I don't think I could make it without strawberry real fruit bars by breyers...

ARCHIVED Height/weight LossTCA replied to yudsmom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs I know I may get kicked of this site for saying this, but I've done a lot of checking into enterolab and none of my daughter's drs. think it's credible. I'm not saying they're right, but it does make me wonder. Plus, our insurance for labs is very good. I'm trying to use conventional tried and true methods, like skin testing and RAST testing first. I...

ARCHIVED Other Allergy Testing?TCA replied to skipper30's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs You're not being too cautious. Is your child having other symptoms that could point to food allergies? If they are then go for it. If not, I wouldn't worry about it. My daughter has eczema, so we've proceeded with testing and found she has allergies to milk and eggs (so far). good luck and I'm so glad you have a doctor who is so good! That means the...

ARCHIVED Tried Neocate 1+ In Feeding Tube Last NightTCA replied to TCA's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs Thanks for the advice. So far Megan's slept peacefully through the night, so the past 4.5 hrs has been restful sleep. I'm pumping, then back to bed to rest some more, hopefully! I'm open to any recipes, but she is allergic to milk, so I doubt she could do the dry curd cottage cheese. I've never heard of this, so correct me if it is not a dairy product...

ARCHIVED Tried Neocate 1+ In Feeding Tube Last NightTCA replied to TCA's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs My step Mom mentioned goat's milk. anyone tried this? I checked it out and the calories are about the same as human milk. I e-mailed her nutritionist about it. Just wondering what you guys think....

ARCHIVED Tried Neocate 1+ In Feeding Tube Last NightTCA replied to TCA's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs yudsmom - Thanks for the suggestion, but Megan couldn't tolerate that one either. I just got a can of it out and it has casein and she has a milk allergy, so that won't work. maybe that was her problem with that one before. I guess I'm grasping at straws here. So far she's tried: Human Milk fortifier, Enfamil, Isomil, Pregestamil, Nutramagen, Alimentum...

ARCHIVED Tried Neocate 1+ In Feeding Tube Last NightTCA replied to TCA's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs A lot of her meds are compounded. I'm going to call in a minute and ask about it. It's about 40 mins. away, but we live out in the country so everything is quite a drive. Is your son corn intolerant or was it just because of gluten?

ARCHIVED So Does Igg Antibodies Matter Or Not..TCA replied to HeatherG's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms My son's IgG was very high (58?) and his IgA was only slightly elevated. They did not do an IgA deficiency test, though. Many celiac patients have an IgA defiecincy which skews the results. He was very symptomatic, so we tried the diet and it has been miraculous. Is your daughter symptomatic? Did they run an IgA deficiency screen?

ARCHIVED Tried Neocate 1+ In Feeding Tube Last NightTCA replied to TCA's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs Thanks for all of your prayers and support. All of you really do help me to keep my sanity on days like this. My sister in law was here today, but I'm trying to use the time to get caught up on housework since it is totally out of control with everything I've had going on. Then the bathroom sink drain stopped up, so I spent most of the day working on that...

ARCHIVED Tried Neocate 1+ In Feeding Tube Last NightTCA posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs Well, we are still on a quest to find a formula that would work in case my milk supply goes down. (I only have 7 oz. ahead in the freezer). The nutritionist is really pushing this since I am Megan's only source of food and sometimes after you've been pumping as long as i have the supply will dwindle. I have to work so hard at having enough for her and...

ARCHIVED Amy's Gluten-free PizzaTCA replied to Fiddle-Faddle's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications We did one of the Amy's and it was from Target, so not so pricey. After that one, thought I decided I'd much rather have Chebe. You can even make the Chebe ones ahead and freeze them before the final baking. For a quick fix, we keep the Kinniknik??? crusts and just add toppings. These are sooooo good and easy.
