ARCHIVED What To Do Next For My Son?
TCA replied to jnclelland's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
The BEST i've found is Cause You're Special Yellow Cake Mix. I buy it at glutenfreegourmet.com It is soooo good. I really don't think anyone would know the difference. In the big scheme of things, waiting a week wouldn't be the end of the world. It might give you a week to get things in order to make sure you have great gluten-free snacks for him. I... -
ARCHIVED Baby Born With Active Celiac?
TCA replied to Satori's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Satori, You and I are in close to the same shoes, except I wasn't smart enough to figure it out with the first child (finally diagnosed a 3). Finally figured it out with my daughter and she is doing much better nursing gluten free. I also discovered I have issues with gluten after going on the diet for her. Never would have guessed it otherwise. Please... -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Yellow Cake Recipe
TCA replied to cmom's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Cause You're Special Yellow Cake Mix is OUT OF THIS WORLD. I've made B-day cakes for the kids and all the relatives unknowingly rave at how great it is. I usually make cupcakes to put in the freezer if I can get any there before they're all gone!!! They're best hot, but good anytime. I ordered them in bulk last time from glutenfreegourmet.com -
ARCHIVED Megan's Gagging Isn't Any Better
TCA replied to TCA's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Rachel, I'm not an amazing Mom, just a Mom trying to do the best i can. That doesn't even seem good enough most of the time...... Thanks for the prayers. Judy - thanks for forwarding that along. Hopefully we can come up with something Megan had a pretty good day until about an hour ago and she started retching REALLY bad and a LOT of... -
Impactions are a VERY serious medical condition. I used to work in a retirement community and one lady almost died before they realized what it was. It is still possible to have somewhat of a BM with an impaction, but alternating from D to C is one symptom. You really need to see a dr.!!!!!!

ARCHIVED Please Advise
TCA replied to Momma Lisa's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
There is a lot "junk food" that is gluten free. Doesn't mean it's good for you, but it's gluten-free. My son is soooo picky and i have a list of foods he will eat. If you want it, just PM me your address. There are so many great alternatives out there to the gluten stuff. My kids are young, so I can control their diets. I don't look forward to those... -
ARCHIVED List For The Newly Diagnosed
TCA posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I've seen a lot of posts lately asking how to get started. Why don't we make a thread of things to do to get started post diagnosis? That way we can direct new people to this thread to see the great ideas. All you old pros, add your info in. I'm still relatively new to this (9 mos.), but these are some tips that would have helped me: 1. Take a breath... -

ARCHIVED Is It Absolutely Necessary To Buy All New Stuff?
TCA replied to Byte Me's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
aspenkeep, GFP has given you some great advice here, I just wanted to add that we've all been where you are right now and we've made it. Just take it a day at a time and do what you can in that day. Here's a few tips on things you can do: 1. Go through your pantry and call the 1-800 #s on the backs of the package to see if they're gluten-free. Ask... -

Thanks so much guys. I wanted to report that Megan only gagged 3 times during the night!!!!!!! I'm avoiding corn (ecept in meds) and rice and I'm really starting to wonder if that is the reason. She feels sooooo good this morning. It does my heart good to see her like this. Judy, thanks for chekcing on that. I just can't find it in a small enough... -

TCA replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
ok ladies, I know I've been out of the loop a lot with Megan, but I can't keep up with this thread!!!! I'm trying, but just can't get through the 25 pages to figure it all out - Rachel do you think you have a corn intolerance or not??? Sorry, but I need the cliff notes version! Glad you're feeling better Patti, sorry you feel bad armetta. ... -
My daughter has eczema on her hands and feet. I've been trying to figure out if it's a side effect of the celiac or some other food allergy or what. We did allergy testing, which showed a moderate allergy to milk and eggs. I've eliminated those foods too. It didn't seem to help much. I've been systematically eliminating other foods to lood for improvement...

TCA replied to TCA's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Diana, I'm really touched that you registered just to tell me this. I think I'll call my dr. on Mon. for a script. I want to make sure that it won't interfesre with her meds, though. I have tried the fenugreek and herbal teas without a lot of success. I can't imagine twins! I can barely keep up with my little one and a 3 year old! I hope this site... -
ARCHIVED 3 Y/o With History Of Stomach Issues
TCA replied to jo ellen's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Your son sounds a lot like mine. He will be 3 is Dec. and finally hit 30 lbs!!!!! he's also wearing mostly 3T clothes. He went gluten-free in Jan and the change has been unbelievable. He also got sick when he was younger, but never got better. He was dairy free until 21 mos., but still refuses milk. He had 2 negative biopsies and inconclusive bloodwork... -
ARCHIVED Don't Know If I Have Celiac Disease
TCA replied to lauralee's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Trust me, we all KNOW how overwhelming this is at first. The way I started out is that if it had more than just a few ingredients, then I stayed away from it. It was too hard to know. As I went along, I found more and more mainstream things that were really good. I probably spent more on specialty food in the beginning because I didn't trust mainstream... -
Not pointless at all. I've never seen the show. Do one of the characters have celiac or something?
-
I get dizzy a lot too. Never thought about the gluten connections, though.

My husband and I went to paris a few years ago. I'm not positive, but your description sounds just like a restaurant that we ate at. It was the BEST food we had while in france. I wasn't gluten-free at the time, but on the off chance that we ever get to go back, I'll remember that!

ARCHIVED Is It Absolutely Necessary To Buy All New Stuff?
TCA replied to Byte Me's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm a cast iron cook. I even have one pan my grandmother started housekeeping with in the 1930s. Needless to say, I'm NOT throwing it out. By the time I found out this could be an issue, I had been cooking in my cast iron for about 4 mos. I gave it all a good scrubbing, but I think I cooked it all out. anyway, I love the self cleaning oven idea.... -
ARCHIVED Megan's Gagging Isn't Any Better
TCA replied to TCA's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Maybe it's the exhaustion, but Mart's comment "Lord grant you strength (and breastmilk)." Just cracked me up! I needed that, thanks!\ Thanks so much for all the prayers - they're what's giving me strength (and milk!). Megan has felt better tonight than she has in over a week. She's been all smiles and energetic. I just got her to go to... -
