  1. Sorry for taking a while to post. I took Meg to see her great grandparents one more time before surgery. She was feeling so good yesterday, but things went downhill fast today. She was so lethargic and was sweating heavily and turning blue around her mouth. We came home a day early. Once we got home and she saw her daddy she seemed fine. I think she...
  2. Just wanted to let everyone know that the scope went great and we're back home, surprise! The IV was barely able to get her through surgery and they weren't able to start TPN before they lost it, so we got to go home. Nothing was visible on the scope, so that's good news. We'll hear from the biopsies next week. Thanks so much for all the prayers!!!!!...
  3. Nini, I have a list of companies on the thread I started for the Newly Diagnosed. thanks for doing all this!
  4. Our insurance would cover prometheus, but not enterolab. different tests, though. prometheus is the standard blood tests and genetic testing.
  5. I never thought I'd be to the point that I'd be afraid to drink bottled water!!!! Thanks so much for the prayers over the past few weeks and in prep for the scope. All of you are a great support in my life and Megan's life. You help me think of possibilities, give me hope, and lift us up in prayer. I couldn't ask for better. Love, Tanya
  6. If what you're doing is working, I would be hesitant to put him through more tests. We went through all of them twice and got inconclusive results, so we did a diet trial and got our answers. Tests are very inconclusive under 5. Your son is so cute!! Does he have long thick eyelashes? That is another symptom that both my kids have. It would probably...
  7. My daughter had projectile vomiting, but son had no vomiting and D. It varies with everyone. I hope the blood work is conclusive. It's hard to get an accurate diagnosis under 5. A diet trial might be the way to go. If you decided to have a scope done to get biopsies, don't try the diet until after the scope.
  8. Woo Hoo!! The launch went well!!! Means that hubby still has a job! That's a very good thing. I was really concerned for the crew's safety, but thankfully all went well. Hopefully the rest of the mission will too. Cheri - hope your son and husband enjoyed it!! So, I guess there's a lot of debate of fluorine???? Can't call the water company...
  9. I haven't thought about it, but I"m the same way too. Never thought about it. I'm O+. ArtGirl - could those bites be fire ants? That's the way they do me.
  10. My son went through tons of test and was inconclusive for celiac. a diet trial is how we got our answer too. I'm glad he's doing better and you figured it out so young. My son was 3 before we did the diet trial. It was amazing at the response.
  11. Make sure they take plenty of samples with the endoscopy. It is hard to get reliable biopsies in kids under 5. If you get a positive, you can believe it, but there are often false negatives. You might want to be ready to undergo a diet trail no matter what. This was the story with our son. He was on nebulizer treatments 2 x daily and now has no issues...
  12. I think it's easier to start when they are young, that way they don't feel so much like they're missing out on things. Just be thankful you found it and hopefully can prevent other health issues. good luck!!
  13. I think I've read 6-8 is standard. Good luck!
  14. Tone's and Zaterain's will too
  15. Nic, I've never heard of anything like this. Do you know the name of the disease or how to test for it? It definitely sounds like a possibility with her. What did they do for the child? I installed a water filter under our sink, plus the refrigerator has one, so that should be taking care of the chlorine, then. I had no idea about fluoride being harmful...
  16. My husband and I both got jobs working with International Space Station out of college. It was a dream job for me, next to being a Mom, of course. He works with getting the experiment hardware from shuttle to ISS and back. I worked in astronaut training and ISS comunications. I guess God gave me my ideal job while I worked, but I wouldn't give anything...
  17. Vincent - They are just doing a scope on Wed. endo and sig (both ends), but there is MAJOR concern because of her heart and putting her to sleep. Hopefully all will be uneventful. They will admit her at least overnight for observation and to pump her full of IV nutrition (TPN). until the IV gives out. 3 days max. Judy and Armetta - everyone's health...
  18. Hope you're still improving. Just wanted to check in and see how you're feeling. Hugs, Tanya
  19. We've actually tried taking her off breast milk and she got MUCH worse. Each formula trial has been without breastmilk at some point. I asked the pediatricain and he said, "An allergy to breastmilk is like an allergy to life itself." the GI agrees that breastmilk is what has kept her alive this long. I hadn't thought about the tap water thing, though...
  20. Thanks so much everyone. Megan had a better night and morning. She's napping quietly now. I thin kk she's gained a bit, so hopefully the Neocate 1 + is doing it's job. She's up to about 630 cal/day, but the goal is 800. It's better than before, though. Now we're going to increase volume to reach 800. We're at 31 cc/hr and hope to reach 40 soon by inching...
  21. Vincent, you are sooo kind. I actually starting packing a picnic basket this afternoon with snacks I can have. They offer a salad and a fruit plate at the hospital, along with other choices, but those should be safe. Before I was only dairy free and they accomodated me. The gluten thing just scares me!!! I'm going to call the dietician tomorrow and see...
  22. Megan is 14.5 mos. We've been through all the formulas and then some. the GI is sure that she still wouldn't be tolerating the Neocate if it weren't going strait into the intestines. She's a tough one, that's the only thing all the drs. agree on. I"m afraid the choking is primarily caused by the hiatul hernia, but her heart is too weak to operate...
  23. Judy - that is such a sweet thought from a very sweet lady. I'm sure God is hearing our wishes and prayers for all these kids. Shai 76 - I know the scope is scary, but he'll be fine. My son has had 3. We're nervous about Megan because of her little heart being so weak and the anethesia. She's tried about every formula out there - Similac, soy something...
  24. So glad to see a positive post from you!!! As for food, we're on a tight budget around here and I find dried beans to be a lifesaver. They're cheap (under $1), easy to fix if you just follow the directions, filling, high in protein and VERY nutritious. I bet if you fixed a pot you could eat it for days and get by just fine. All you need is salt to add...
  25. I made homemade rice milk a while back that was decent. Here's what I did 1/3 c. cooked rice 1 c. water dash salt 1 tsp. sugar I blended it until smooth. this was pretty thick, but you could play around with it. I think I may try it again and add some vanilla. Crisco has a butter flavor for baking, but it has soybean oil.
