ARCHIVED Megan's Gagging Isn't Any Better
TCA replied to TCA's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Megan slept through the night and I got 7 hrs!!!!!! We both feel much better this morning. Maybe she was teething causing the spit up and fever. It's so hard to not blame simple things on big things with her. Hopefully today will go better. Thanks for the prayers. I was just about past functioning yesterday I had so little sleep. -
They might also want to do a cbc to check for anemia.

Meg is a bit better tonight. She started throwing up even with the J tube, so we had to take her in for an x-ray to make sure teh tube hasn't moved. It was still there, but that means her Jejenum (sp?) is refluxing too. Not good. The dr. said we're doing all we can, but to call the GI tomorrow for more info. I just talked to the on call one today a couple... -

Ijust boughtsome Nayonaise at the health food store. It was on sale, so I decided to try it for tuna salad. It's not bad. Don't look at it, though. It doesn't look too great. Tapenade is good on sandwhiches too. You can buy it or make it in the food processor. I've made it before with olives, olive oil, sun dried tomatoes, garlic, and parsley. I...

Thanks everyone for the well wishes and prayers. Keep them going, because they are paying off. She had another bad night, but is more like herself this morning. She had a little more energy and was smiling some. That helps so much!!! She' not 100% yet, but it's good to see her back up to 70% at least! Maybe she just got a little bug since we spent so... -

Thanks for more prayers. Megan had a crummy day. She cried all day, which is so unlike her. I guess its just getting adjusted to the new tube and not eating. It's really messing with me mentally to not try to feed her and get her to eat. It's been a focus for so long now. I don't know how to react. Mooing - That's too funny!!!! I didn't realize... -
There is a GIG group here that seems really good. I've been to a few meetings, but I'm a bit limited with my daughter's health issues. There is an e-mail Yahoo list you can sign up for ir you want. Just let me know and I'll get the info for you. I LOVE our pediatrician. I'll send you an PM with that info. Don't know if thye'd want their #s on the board...

You have got to slow down and take care of yourself and that leg!!! We're all too worried about you for you to be up running errands!!! Still praying for you. wish I could do more, but know that there's a lot of love from me to you!!!!! -
Most formulas are gluten-free, but I would call the # on the can and ask. My duaghter just couldn't tolerate formulas at all. There's no logical explaination, she just can't. You might try a hypoallergenic fomula like Nutramagin, Pregestimil, Alimentum or some of the higher powered ones like Neocate or elecare.

Health a beauty supplies can be a MAJOR source of gluten. My daughter was doing really good, then just stopped gaining for a while, then started losing and vomiting all the time. Turns out we had bought some curel lotion with Oat protein about the time she started having problems. We got rid of everything in the house with gluten and she started gaining...

Today was another unbelievable exhausting day. We drove 2.5 hrs. to Vandy where we were told there was a mixup in scheduling and they couldn't do the GJ tube. AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2nd time in 2 weeks we had a wasted trip up there. Anyway, ended up coming back home to have it done at the local hospital... -

Thanks again for the prayers. Sorry, but I don't have a lot of time right now. Today has been pretty crazy! We started of trying to schedule a G-J tube placement (from her G-tube to her intestines) in our hometown, but they don't have the right size tube for her, so we ended up getting scheduled by work in tomorrow at Vanderbilt. They're going to admit... -

I'm pumping too and have been for 14 mos. My supply starting dropping off and I just got a Rx. for reglan this week to pick it back up. You can call your obgyn for this. The main thing for me to eat plenty of calories. Don't worry about those pre pregnancy clothes, you'll get there later. Eat lots of fat and calories and drink a LOT. I drink 20+ cups...

ARCHIVED A Kinder, Gentler Iron Supplement?
TCA replied to penguin's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Chelsea, My daughter had a LOT of anemia issues before finding celiac, evne having blood transfusions for it. She's better now, but the ONLY supplement that didn't make her sick was ICAR. It's pediatric and you have to have a RX. I just talked to the ped today about her going back on it in prep for surgery. He's giving me samples. She was on plain... -
ARCHIVED Total Serum Iga And Iga Deficiency......
TCA replied to wolfie's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
We did gene testing through proemehteus, but the other tests were through a local lab and IgA deficiency wasn't tested. Prometheus sent us a nice little packet by calling 1-888-423-5227 if you want one. I have the same question you have (I understood, believe it or not, ). Does a gluten-free diet improve IgA deficiency? -
I think you need to find a new doctor!

Fiddle Faddle - Specific prayers are hard sometimes. You never know what you might be missing with this little one!!! I'm glad you had a postive experience. I was told that by the tests they can see where the sliding hiatul hernia is much larger and the reflux is much worse post fundo. Good luck in making a decision on the twins. My husband's friend at work said her daughter is doing worse now too. They're putting her back into a program out west for a few more months... -

Sorry for all the medical terms - when you live it evry day, you forget that other don't. Be glad you don't understand!!!! The fundoplication (a surgery to correct reflux) was done last summer because she was projectile vominting. OUr local GI sent us to Vanderbilt to see on of his colleagues there.
