  1. If it's any comfort to you, I'm one of those that has terrible joint pains with gluten. Had them all of my life. Went to rhuematologists and was tested for everything, but all was normal. I went gluten-free while nursing my celiac daughter and the joint pains went away. I would sometimes run a fever and my joints would swell with the pain, but not always...
  2. Here are the caring bridge updates. Sorry I haven't been posting as much. It's been soooo busy around here. Car broke down - again. Power company cut tree down that tore up part of the roof and the phone line, Jarod dropped a cinder block on his toe and may need surgery.......... It's been nuts, but Meg is doing great, so I'm no complaining!!! Love...
  3. The Neocate tastes terrible, so don't try to get him to drink it. There are flavor packets you can get, though. You might also want to consider something called MCT oil. You can use it in cooking or to supplement things, like applesauce. It is easier to digest and will help the kids gain weight. You need a script for it. I'm soooo glad to hear about...
  4. Wow! Your plate runneth over!!! Know that you'll be at the TOP of my prayer list! I just wanted to offer up a little advice about attacking this huge problem. Why not break it up into little problems. You didn't mention the severity of the food allergies. If they're not too severe, why not start with gluten and dairy free and get a handle on that, then...
  5. Sam's choice (walmart brand) chocolate chips are dairy and gluten free! They're my new weakness!
  6. I don't want anyone to die or anything! Meg's still doing good. Her gagging might be a tiny bit better. We're continuing the neocate trial for 2 weeks. Her eczema is improving some, so I'm hopeful. She has a yearly assessment today with Early Intervention to continue her therapy, so I've got to run. Hope you all have a great day! BTW - I put a...
  7. Both Walmart and Kroger have store brands that are gluten free. I contacted Kroger. It's the one with the red label. Walmart's has a green label and says gluten free.
  8. I'm breastfeeding and if I cut back on calories at all I go down quickly on production. Stress and lack of sleep also make mine go down. My daughter just had her 2nd open heart surgery, so I understand the stress of pumping with a sick child. I've been doing it for almost 16 mos. Have you tried Mother's Milk tea or Mother's Lactation Tonic? Your OB can...
  9. Thanks for the ! I think we all could use a week of being "normal" mommies!
  10. THANKS for the tip! I've been decorating the cakes around here and I really stink at it! Now I have options!
  11. My daughter has horrible reflux and it gets sooooo much worse with gluten exposure.
  12. still praying that you figure all of this out. Has he been tested for a staph infection? My father had terrible fevers with a staph infection from a test he had run. I don't know if it's even possible. Has he been tested for Mono? It can sometimes present with mysterious symptoms and drs. don't test for it. This also happened to my father. He was told...
  13. I told my son that some foods are what makes his tummy hurt and he needs to ask me before he eats something. He knows that here at home everything is safe, but when we're away he needs to ask. He's 3.5 and it works well for us!
  14. just posted this to caring bridge.... ********************************************** Megan is still improving, at least in everything but gagging. She is so full of energy and smiles. She's also beginning to show a little spoiled side. ; ) I don't know how we're ever going to get her to walking and crawling if she cries every time she's put on the floor...
  15. I know I"m late chiming in, but my daughter's been in the hospital and i"m behind on here. My son only had high IgG, which is nonspecific, but had a wonderful response to diet. If your kid is still symptomatic, I would try the diet and see if they improve. As for the original question - both of my kids have it and we think I probably do too. We're...
  16. We feed our dog and cats at night right after putting our son to bed. We've had success with this since they have all night to wear it off. Just an idea!
  17. I can't imagine the horror of having to deal with the fear your child may be taken away while dealing with these health issues. I am praying for both of you and your kids.
  18. So far it's about the same. We're finishing up day 3 on formula alone with no change. I really am starting to think that it's physical. There's a chance she can outgrow some of it, but that all depends. She can't have anything else done for 3 mos. post surgery, so we have that long to try to get her eating and get the aspirations and gagging under control...
  19. My son was the same as yours with pooping and growth. He had all the tests done 3 times and it was all inconclusive. He was 1-3 yrs. old. At 3 I decided to put him on a gluten-free diet and see what happens. The D stopped in 3 weeks. It was amazing. If he gets gluten accidentally it comes back with a vengence. He got some yesterday through CC at Chick...
  20. I just posted this to caring bridge.... ******************************************************** Megan had checkups with her pediatrician and the cardiologist in Huntsville today. Both were so pleased at her progress. Both stressed that we need to keep her in for 6 weeks after surgery and still be careful even after that. She weighed 18-14!!!!! Now the...
  21. Just wanted to send a hug and let you know I'm still praying! (((((((((((((((((((HUG)))))))))))))))))))))))
  22. It makes me so angy that a place we go to get well ends up poisoning us! I really feel for you. We had a really good experience with Vanderbilt Children's, but I questioned EVERYTHING!!!! If I wasn't sure, I didn't eat it. I hope Tianna starts gaining well soon! (((((((((((((((((HUG)))))))))))))))))))
  23. A good friend of mine said that there is one thing guaranteed to come with motherhood - GUILT!!! I gave my son syrup with gluten and felt terrible. I'm so glad you figured it out. Try not to beat yourself up too bad
  24. I have thought of Lanigan often during my own daughter's hospital stay. I hope you can get answers soon. It took my son about 3 weeks to show improvement going gluten free. Forgive me for asking, but are you sure he's not getting ANY gluten? No cross contamination or anything? I t took us a while to get a hold on the diet and I made a lot of mistakes...
  25. I haven't heard anything from Will's family. I think of them often. I met so many at RM house that are that way. You keep each other in your prayers, not really knowing how they're doing. I pray he turned things around.
