ARCHIVED What Were Your Child's Symptoms?
TCA replied to elaine33's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Sorry, I've been out of the loop for a few days sick with a sinus infection. Just wanted to add that I never thought I had gluten issues. I'm short, but have always been on the heavy size and have to work hard at staying at a size 12 or below. I have a LOT of allergies and asthma. I have a lot of stomach pains, but was told it was probably an ulcer due... -

TCA replied to elaine33's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My son is sooooo picky, but here is a list of gluten-free foods he will eat. Hope that's helpful! ALWAYS double check ingredients since they can change from time to time. • Delimex Taquitos - double check ingredients since some have wheat • Oscar Mayer Hot dogs and bologna • Hormel microwave bacon • Kraft Cheese – singles, mozzarella, and cheddar ... -
ARCHIVED What Gluten Free Products Do You Buy At The Regular Grocery Store?
TCA replied to elaine33's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
There is a link in my sig line to a list on how to get started gluten free. One of the things is a list of companies that always list gluten ingredients. I tend to stick with these companies. Hope that helps! -
ARCHIVED His Bloods Were Negative - What Do I Do Now?
TCA replied to girlfromclare's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
A year ago, my husband's family also thought I was a bit neurotic. We were going through our 3 rd round of testing for my son for celiac and it was inconclusive, so the dr. said he didn't have it. Yet, he still had classic symptoms. I then found out that testing is often inaccurate on kids under 5. In Jan. I decided to do a diet trial (neurotic, right... -
ARCHIVED Please Help... I'm In Shock
TCA replied to emja73's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
You've already been told about being 100% gluten-free, so I won't repeat their great points. I just wanted to welcome you! We've all been in the panic mode before, but it does get easier. I just keep gluten-free cupcakes and pizza in the freezer so we can grab a treat whenever needed and not have to stress about it. My signature line has a link to a thread... -

ARCHIVED Encopresis And Celiac
TCA replied to Willow5's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My son had this until going gluten-free. He wasn't constipated, just couldn't control his bowels at all. After a month gluten-free he was completely potty trained, but still has accidents if he gets gluten unintentionally. We had a foster son who had MAJOR problems with this. It turned out that he had an impaction the size of a grapefruit. Once that... -
ARCHIVED Megan's Gagging Isn't Any Better
TCA replied to TCA's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Actually the cath is the 10th, and so far it is still planned. How are things with all of you. Sent an e-mail last week. Megan's having a good week and starting to take tiny little sips of juice! Improvements all the time! Thankfully, I don't think she's swallowed any more hairbows, though! -
ARCHIVED Megan's Gagging Isn't Any Better
TCA replied to TCA's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I was hoping you'd like the picture. Cole's going through the stage where he doesn't want his picture taken, so I had to get in it with them! We had a great time, but Meg kept falling asleep. The time change is just too much for my early bird! She was soooo glad to finally get in her bed! -
ARCHIVED I'm A Bit Overwhelmed
TCA replied to mom-to-claire's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
mom-to-claire, I do know how scary it all can be since I've had 2 kids with similar symptoms. We went thorugh tons of testing for tons of things and finally tried the gluten-free diet and were amazed at the difference in our kids. That's all the proof we needed. I hope you get some definitive answers with your tests, but keep in mind that kids under... -
ARCHIVED Dr. Thinks It Might Be Eosinophillic Esophagitis, Not Celiac
TCA replied to azmom3's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Just wanted to add in that I have terrible mold allergies and can't tolerate a lot of cheeses because of it. I know he's not on dairy now, but something to think on as you trial foods. Hope he's doing better soon! I think of you often. -
ARCHIVED ***could My Son Be Allergic To His Diapers?
TCA replied to azmom3's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
didn't have time to read the whole thread, but my kids are allergic to pampers. I found white cloud at walmart to be easiest on them. cloth diapers might help too. that was my next step, but these helped so I didn't have to. They're much cheaper too. You might also try using a cool washrag instead of wipes. I'd also be careful of detergent. I only... -
ARCHIVED We Did The Biopsy....thank Goodness It Is Over
TCA replied to LauraW's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I'm sorry it was hard, but glad it's over now. I hope you can get some definitive results from it. That was the hardest part for us, still not knowing b/c it was negative. I pray your Mom comes around soon. Like I said on the other thread, if she improves as much as my son did your Mom will be on board in no time. As for the flour, I LOVE to cook... -
ARCHIVED Kids gluten-free Recipes Help
TCA replied to vampella's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
This is a list of foods my son will eat that I put together for people who keep him sometimes. He is soooo picky, but will eat all of this. There are a lot of quick things since it is for other people. I know a lot of it is junk food, but I was shooting for items that people could find: • Delimex Taquitos - double check ingredients since some have w... -
ARCHIVED Parents Begging Not To Do Biopsy On Dd

Chrissy, I would be very interested in that article too since my son's IgA was elevated, but the TtG wasn't. Thanks! -
ARCHIVED Dr. Thinks It Might Be Eosinophillic Esophagitis, Not Celiac
TCA replied to azmom3's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
You are so sweet to be worried about my little one while going through so much yourself. Megan still isn't walking at 18 mos, but she also has had 2 open heart surgeries, a fundoplication that came undone, and all the feeding and GI issues we've talked about. She's doing sooo much better since her last heart surgery. Things are improving every day and... -
ARCHIVED Ingredients - New And Old Lists
TCA replied to trober's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Andrea's right about calling companies. I try to stick with brands that will always list gluten. There is a link to another thread in my signature line and in that is a list of companies that will list wheat, rye barley or oats if they are used. Cheetos are fine, btw. Most maltodextrin is from corn, but I check it out first. I think you probably have... -

TCA replied to LauraW's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Just want to send stress free hugs and prayers! Whenever you do decide to go gluten-free, there is a link in my signature that goes to another discussion one way to go gluten-free. I think you might find it helpful and take some of the stress out of the process. All of us had to learn the hard way! Like Alison said, we NEVER want to stress you out here... -

ARCHIVED Parents Begging Not To Do Biopsy On Dd
TCA replied to LauraW's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I agree with Nini, especially since you are expecting. I would go gluten-free immediately to make sure the baby is getting the nutrients it needs. I went gluten-free thinking I didn't have a problem with gluten, but knowing my daughter did and since I was nursing her I was 100% gluten-free. I had so many improvements in my health that I"m not going back... -

ARCHIVED Celiac Or Nc Gluten Sensitivity… Or Not?
TCA replied to nan55's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Just wanted to say welcome and let you know that your son's symptoms could definately be gluten related. You never know until you try the diet, though. I've never had D, but do have a problem with indigestion. I also had the terrible leg pains as a child that were called growing pains, but I still had them at 29. They were getting much worse too. I... -
ARCHIVED Parents Begging Not To Do Biopsy On Dd
TCA replied to LauraW's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Also with due respect, Fiddle-Faddle, I have never heard of anyone having complications with a biopsy. I'm not saying it has never happened, I just haven't heard of it. I know it is natural to be anxious about any procedure that is done on our precious little ones. I just don't think that this particular one is too bad. Just my opinion, so take it at... -
ARCHIVED I Feel Like A Hypochondriac!
TCA replied to azmom3's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I really do understand. Both kids have celiac, my daughter has a heart condition that required 2 surgeries, so far, plus she has major gi and feeding issues. My husband is a type 1 diabetic. We're both on allergy shots and I have asthma. We're a walking infimary most of the time. I spend more time on the phone with dr. offices than I do with friends...
