  1. Glad you're getting in with your doc. something to point out that you probably already know - Most gluten-free food choices are a much higher glycemic index than good for you gluten foods. If you don't have a problem with gluten you might want to consider keeping some no gluten-free snacks and foods at work so that your son won't be tempted, but you can...
  2. Our local drugstore has a brand called Mason's that is gluten free. Says so on the bottle. That brand is not so expensive. I don't know anything about GNC.
  3. If you've only been on the diet for a week or so, you're probably not going to see results yet. I don't think it's a good idea to go gluten-free until after the bloodwork, though. My son't BMs would be the color of whatever he ate because his body wasn't processing things correctly. It took 3 weeks on the diet for his BMs to be normal. It might take longer...
  4. We love Chebe pizza crust.... think i'll make one today. Yum! Which mix did you use for the breadsticks?
  5. Welcome to the board! I can help with some, but not all! Here goes: 1. Everyone is affected in different ways. My son get D immediately, but the irritability starts the next day. The BMs you describe sound very disturbing. A gluten-free diet should help these return to normal, but it may take a while. 2. If you still feel bad after being gluten...
  6. I hope you can find a dr. that will work for you. My son had blood work which was inconclusive, and 2 negative biopsies. Everyone has to make thier own decisions, but the testing under 5 is very inconclusive. I put him on the diet and his is now thriving. A dietary trial might be good at the young age.
  7. I'm so glad that Emma can try to get a bit better before trying the IV fluids. I know you must be relieved. Did they leave her on the gluten-free diet? How long has she been gluten-free now? It took my son about 3 weeks for the D to stop. I do hope she will feel better soon. The avocado is a bit constipating to Megan, but that may be a good thing...

    ARCHIVED Seizures

I had Pm'd this to Nisla, but this is the description of Alex's symptoms that my friend e-mailed me: "Alex has been diagnosed with PVL (perio ventricular lugamalasia (spelling unsure)). He has secondary generalized epilepsy associated with developmental delay. His EEG pattern appears similar to that of Lennox Gaustaut (spelling unsure) Syndrome...

    ARCHIVED Seizures

Nope, it's not epilepsy. Thanks for the link!
  10. Another thing to crumble might be Enjoy Life Snickerdoodles. They are sooooo good and look more like sand too.
  11. I'm not familiar with enterolab, but my kids had genetic testing with Prometheus. My son had Both gense aned my daughter has 1. Both were symptomatic, but have improved with the gluten-free diet. I'm not sure about the implications for parents, but I now believe that I too am gluten intolerant.

    ARCHIVED Seizures

A good friend of mine has a child who has had seizure his whole life. He's not 3.5 and also has some developmental delays. I don't know all the details, but I know they have been searching for answers for so long and praying so hard for him to be cured. It's been a tough road for them. I've seen a lot of you post about seizures as a symptom. I'm looking...
  13. i don't know what all of Emily's issues are, but a feeding tube is more for kids who need LOTS of calories or kids who refuse to eat. There are some enteral (tube only) formulas out there. Compleat Pediatric (yes, that's how it's spelled) is one they tried for Megan, but she projectile vomited it like she did everything else. It is gluten free, but she...
  14. My daughter has some severe eating issues too. We have tried every formula except Neocate (That's next). We have tried Elecare unsuccessfully too. My daughter has a heart condition, celiac, and a feeding tube. The drs. forced formula on her because they wanted more calories than breast milk could provide. She just got sicker and sicker until I took her...
  15. You really might want to consider getting bloodwork by a doctor. The bloodwork they do is beyond blood glucose. They also do a hemoglobin A1C which is a monitor over a few months of how blood sugar control is going, along with other things. You mentioned a while back about your kidneys being tested. Kidney issues often are related to diabetes. It might...
  16. Sorry - I've been out of the loop a couple days with kids' Dr. appts. I just wanted to point out that each person's body is different. What works to control one person's hypoglycemia may differ a little from the next person's. Both my husband and my dad are diabetics, but their bodies react totally different to different glycemic indexes, carbs, etc. ...
  17. The only thing I could find when we were doing dairy/casien free was Walmart brand margarine in the tub. I'm not a huge butter person, but this got me through. Also - diary free things can contain casein. Cool Whip, for example is advertised as Dairy free whipped topping, but it contains casein.
  18. Sorry you had a bad experience Ursula. I'm going to the Dermatologist Monday. I only have a couple blisters between my fingers right now, so I don't know if they can get that or not. I've waited 3 mos. for this appt., but I'm breastfeeding my celiac daughter and don't want to intentionally ingest gluten. How big of an area do they need? Thanks!
  19. Thanks for your replies. I asked the dentist what he thought about his adult teeth and he said that the front teeth develop from 0-2 years and the back or molars develop now. Hopefully part of them will be strong!!! Tarnalberry, I will ask if they can go ahead and run bloodwork while he is at the hospital. He'll be asleep and never know it that...
  20. My son has always had bad teeth, some even without enamel in places. We just went to a new dentist today after his old one told me I just needed to brush his teeth more. I always hated going there because he made me feel like it was all my fault and I really do take good care of his teeth. Anyway, I aked the dentist if he understood what Celiac is and...
  21. I just wanted to offer a foods list that I keep for my 3 year old. Just PM mw wit hyour e-mail address and I'll send it if you're interested. Good luck with the diagnosis!
  22. You mentioned an allergy to molds. I have severe allergies to molds. Because of this I have trouble with some foods like chedder cheese and orange juice. I am extremely sensitive to the mold that grows on citrus fruits. During the juicing process, all of the mold is not removed, so small amounts get into the juice, making me sick like you described, plus...
  23. My son used to have horrible allergies and asthma until going gluten free. He no longer even needs claritin and he used to have nebulizer treatments. Not even a sniffle or sneeze this spring. I was amazed! My daughter was just diagnosed with eczema last week. He will get sick (D) pretty quick after getting glutened and it lasts a day or so. His...
  24. hugs and prayers from our family to each of you. Tanya
  25. I like the Sesmark Sesame Rice crackers. I get them at Target. They are not made in a gluten-free facility, but i haven't had any problems. They are really good. I also use a lot of corn chips as a substitute. It's a lot cheaper than other alternatives and tasty too! My favorite mix, and I've tried a lot, is Cause you're special. It actually tastes...
