ARCHIVED Only Elecated Igg
TCA replied to mlana's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My kids had trouble with dairy until they went gluten-free for a while. I then reintroduced dairy and they have had no issues. Since you're testing gluten, I wouldn't eliminate dairy and gluten at the same time, but keep in mind that some people need to eliminate dairy at the first and give their intestines time to heal. I have a food list of things I... -

I have a list of foods my son eats if you would like it. It also has tips for people who keep him so he won't get sick (hopefully). Just PM me if you want a copy and I'll send it to you. We went for a gluten-free house and it has worked great for us. CC risks are too high for us. I can't deal with the stress!!!! -
ARCHIVED Experiences With Biopsies And Young Children (under 2yrs)
TCA replied to betsy7's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Whatever you decide, it is your decison, but here is my story: My son had GI issues from 6 weeks old when he had bloody stools. He had his first endoscopy at around 3 mos. when they determined it was an allergic reaction to casein in the breast milk he was eating. I stopped eating dairy and the blood stopped. At around 9 mos old, shortly after introducing... -

I'm so glad she's feeling better. My son has a bad rash too after his tummy ache the other night. It's amazing how this all takes its toll. I hope it's better soon. -

ARCHIVED Only Elecated Igg
TCA replied to mlana's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My son is 3 and had an elveted IgG of 56 and a slightly elevated IgA. he had 2 negative biopsies, but the diet was the tell-tale evidence. He got sooo much better, but it took about 3 weeks. I think a diet challenge is reasonable. Is he having a lot of symptoms? -
You really got my attention too!!! I was dairy free for over 2 years before being gluten-free. Pop tarts (brand name) were something I kept on hand for a quick eat. French bread and pasta were great too. I also made homemade bread, but you may not want to do that with your son in the house. Too much risk of CC. There are some delicious cookies I...

ARCHIVED Recommended Starting Foods For Newly Diagnosed Celiacs
TCA replied to valery's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
i personally don't think that 2 or even 3 eggs a day will hurt. Look at how many bad foods you have cut from your diet now that you're gluten-free. I think that would more than make up for anything!!! I'm so glad you're doing better. I'm also glad you're on the pump. It is wonderful! Here is a very simple PB cooke recipe I make all the time in case... -
ARCHIVED I Want To Stop Gaining Weight
TCA replied to jaimi alderson's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
When I went gluten-free, I had just had a baby and I haven't lost ANYTHING since. I started trying to cut back on calories, and my milk production plummeted, so I decided I would diet after she is weaned. Now that my son is gluten-free, I try to cook higher fat meals for him since he had such a low wieght. He's a picky eater and I find myself cleaning... -
ARCHIVED Daughter Has The Big "d" Tonight
TCA replied to a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
After our little episode yesterday with my son, I think I share your daughter's fears. Whenever anything is wrong with him I immediatly start wondering where I made a mistake with gluten. I think I've programmed myself to be so diligent that i'm now obsessive!!!! I hope she feels much better soon. I'll say a prayer for you both! Also my son used... -
ARCHIVED Questions - Diagnosed With Celiac Yesterday
TCA replied to faegan's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Welcome to the board. This is the place to come for answers. I wasted way too much time on doctors before coming here! I would suggest that you start with a very simple diet - veggies, fruit, and meat, and then add other products slowly. I'm still learning myself, but I think if you do this it is easier to find source of cross contamination and hidden... -
ARCHIVED Blood Test For Kindeys?
TCA replied to VydorScope's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanks so much. My dad's kidney disease was both Focal and Segmental as well. I hope you are able to stay healthy. I just know that all of these health issues for my dad are connected to gluten, but getting a doctor to listen is a whole other story. We're working on that, though. -

Hey Nisla, I contacted the company a while back. We live in AL, but they said we're in the Atlanta distribution are for Kroger and could get our manager to order them. They were very nice and said I could even call them if I had any trouble. You probably could too since you live so close to Atlanta. I've got the # if you need it. Maybe you won't have... -
No, we were home all day. That's why I can't figure it out because the house is gluten-free. I haven't given him anymore of the marshmallows. I may let him have some more in a few days and see if he gets sick. It's so hard because sometimes kids just have a tummy ache, but I always try to tie it back to gluten. He seems fine today, though. For that...

Thanks for the advice guys. I really don't know what I would do if I didn't have all of you to turn to for help. My little guy was tuckered out last night and went to bed really early, but seems much better.

I called my local McRae's clinique counter and they said all the lipsticks were gluten-free. I had my doubts tat the time since the girl didn't sound very knowlegeable. She was just reading ingredient lists, but she was really trying to help. For now i"m using chapstick! -
ARCHIVED Recommended Starting Foods For Newly Diagnosed Celiacs
TCA replied to valery's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I am so sorry to hear how hard all this has been for you. I too am a breastfeeding mom to my daughter who's an 11 mo. Celiac. My son has it too and I think I have DH. My husband is also a type 1 diabetic. The hardest thing about this diet is trying to balance the high carb breads and such with the diabetes. Are you on the pump? I'm sure you know this... -

Me too, I love them! -
Thanks guys. He seems to be feeling better tonight. He's not eating much, but he's not crying. Thanks for the prayers! I'm hurting like I was glutened too. I think mine was CC from communion tonight. Our pastor was great about keeping the rice crackers separate for us, but he forgot to have a seperate cup for us. I knew better, but I dipped (just...

I don't blame you for wanting peace of mind with your son. Just remember that the biopsies sometimes will give false negatives. Make sure the doctor biopsies 6- 8 different areas since the damage can be partial. For the little one, my son had his first biopsy at her age and it was negative. His sympotms persited, so they did another one at 35 mos. It... -
I finally got him settled down. He had been crying a LONG time before I posted. I did what you said Lonewolf and gently massaged his back and sang to him. He was whimpering so pitifully even in his sleep. I also gave him a Prevacid. It was prescribed before the gluten-free diet and he hasn't been needing it. The tylenol was next, though. Thanks both...

I don't know why, but my son is crying with stomach pain. The only thing I can figure is some little cousins visited this morning and they may have given him something to eat. He's screaming. What do you do with your kids? What can I give him to help?

ARCHIVED Blood Test For Kindeys?
TCA replied to VydorScope's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Jeannie, What is FSGS? I wish my Dad could see your doc too, bvut he's just not up to a trip like that and he's deathly afraid of flying. His kidney is doing great, it's just the rest of him that is falling apart. I wonder if they were to test a population of kidney transplant patients how many would have celiac? It would be very interesting research... -
ARCHIVED Does Anyone Have Day Care Issues?
TCA replied to celiacsmom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I was working part time before my daughter was born and my son attended a home day care. My daughter was born with a heart defect, so I am staying home now. I loved his caregiver, but I cannot imagine her being able to keep his food safe with th eother kids in the house not being gluten-free. I'm not saying you should stay home, but it is actually working...
