  1. Tinfoil! A friend of mine has a sister-in-law that has celiac and her mother/friends always cook her meat on tinfoil on a grill. She's even told restaurants to use this and has had no problems. Awesome!
  2. My parents don't know anyone in our family that has had celiac, that we know of. Is it possible for it to just randomly start with me? It has to start somewhere, right?
  3. I'm so glad that you have such a great friend!
  4. I noticed a huge improvement on the 3rd day and have gotten even better since then. Once being glutened (which has happened several times due to CC and accidental glutening), it takes me about a week to get back to "normal."
  5. I've got a question for those of you that were dx with IBS: did any of the remedies for IBS help you? I cut out dairy, high-fat foods, alcohol, carbonation, caffeine and artificial sweeteners when I was dx with IBS and felt a lot better, almost normal sometimes, even though I was eating a lot of bread and gluten. Then eventually, just cutting out those...
  6. NSG, what are you eating? Can you post a sample menu, including portion sizes of what you eat all day? Maybe we can help point out things that might be keeping you from losing weight.
  7. Kerastase Bain Miroir shampoo Kerastase Chroma Reflect conditioner Matrix Vavoom Volumizing Foam (not sure if this is gluten-free, but I feel fine using it) Proactiv Renewing Cleanser Dove bar soap Bare Escentuals Mineral Veil (the rest of the makeup I use might have gluten... I'm not sure)
  8. Is the syrup safe then? My Gluten Guard says it might not be.
  9. Has anyone been to one of these? We're going on our honeymoon to the Royal Bahamian resort and are meeting with a chef there the first day. Any helpful tips? Thanks!
  10. All of them taste ok to me, but they have no protein and are enormously high in fat (which I can't digest well), so I don't eat them.
  11. I started taking Open Original Shared Link a couple days ago and am very pleased. They clearly say gluten-free, as well as dairy, corn, etc. and I have always had great success with NOW products.
  12. Unfortunately, no. I got the idea that it might be from that post, though.
  13. Does anyone know if Equate lists all ingredients on their products? I have some Equate "Claritin" and don't know if it's safe...
  14. Thanks, everyone! I will buy new ones this weekend!
  15. I'm going to echo the others that said that you probably shouldn't try to make the entire wedding gluten free, just your food. I'm getting married in a little over 2 weeks and I didn't even attempt to make it gluten-free. I'm still not sure what I'm going to do about the part where we're supposed to "feed" each other cake. I guess I'll just feed him.
  16. My gluten guard program says that Kraft has gluten. Could it be wrong?
  17. Do I need to buy new tupperware containers? Or are those generally safe? Thanks.
  18. I used to take a supplement called Omega 3-6-9, which supplied me with all the essential fatty acids. I'm not sure why I stopped (ran out and forget to buy more, maybe?) but I'll get some more. I tolerated that just fine. And my naturopathic doctor thinks that it may be the saturated fats I don't tolerate well but that I might tolerate nuts fine. I'm too...
  19. Thank you very much, Ursula! I know that I am intolerant to dairy - one little bit and I bloat up like a balloon. It's the same way with fat - if there is too much oil or fat in something I've eaten, regardless of what it was I ate, I bloat up like a balloon. I read that the reason this is is because my digestive system is so damaged that it has a hard...
  20. Open Original Shared Link Has anyone heard of it? I was diagnosed with IBS in January 2004. I was put on Zelnorm for constipation and did okay for 6 months. Then my eating disorder (anorexia and bulimia) reappeared and I didn't eat much for another 4 months, during which time I had no bloating or constipation problems. I then started to recover...
  21. Thanks, ladies! I told my fiance so we will have to go look for some new pots for us soon!
  22. I'm not sure if this is the right forum to post this in... I'm getting married in 3 weeks and we registered for some really nice nonstick pots and pans, but since it looks like I'm going to have to use separate pans, we're wondering if stainless steel would be safe for both of us to use if they are put in the dishwasher in between?
  23. I personally am staying away from gluten substitutes. Most of them have a lot of calories and fat in them, so I'd rather just not eat them. I'm eating fresh, whole foods like fruits, vegetables, egg whites, protein shakes (not exactly whole, but close) and fat-free turkey and chicken breasts and I've been losing weight.
