  1. Bergen Co. is in north Jersey?? I am in Salem Co. in south Jersey. We go to Whole Foods and some mom and pop health food places nearby. Pathmark also offers a few items. I do most of my shopping at Whole Foods though or online. Resturants are not a biggie right now as my little one is only 16 months and just pack things right now. Bakeries in this area...
  2. Wow have you all opened my eyes to the future! I haven't looked past today! I know in my school they have to provide food for your child but it does make me wonder how accurate they would be. I think I would be worried and reading and double reading everything. Like the spelt bread. It was the parents responsibility to make sure that food was ok. Should...
  3. Patti- YOu use the GFP french bread as a sandwich bread? It works? It is lighter than the actually sandwich bread? Hummm might try it. Has anyone tried Glutino Corn bread? I bought it to try thinking it was a corn bread but is looks just like a white bread just made with corn. It smells good though. Haven't tried it yet.
  4. juliem-I didn't know WF had gluten-free choco. chip cookies! It is under their name? In where? The freezer section, cookie section or bread/bakery? KEEP 'EM COMING! I love the ideas!!! Also shows I agree with some and we are headed down the right path! LOL!
  5. We have tried millet bread, GFP fav. sandwich bread mix, whole foods fresh baked bread and EnerG tapioca bread. The millet bread and the EnerG tap. bread toast nice but I didn't like the millet bread much as it can be a bit grainy. The GFP sandwich bread mix made a great cinn. bread but I didn't care for it as a sandwhich bread as it was really heavy. ...
  6. Don't bother with recipies as I haven't gone down that road yet! What is you most fav. items???? Cookies? Bread? Hamburger/hot dog rolls? Cereals? Snacks? Pasta? etc..............
  7. I do most here..... Open Original Shared Link
  8. Well actually I find prices to be about the same. Only thing is that I have to travel here and there to get things and with the price of gas...well it probably equals out to be about the same. No store in my area carries all the things I like. BUT I can find most things in one place online. So if you look at the $8-10 for S&H as gas money....you make...
  9. NINI'S CHICKEN!!! Just remember to add the egg! (she forgets to tell you that one!) But I agree...I think a lot of people have been soooooooo helpful! I wouldn't have known what to buy or do. I too rec. this site to everyone I know!
  10. I am going to go crazy!! I noticed it wasn't on the gluten-free list I had so I looked up online. Some say yes and some say no. Some depends on if it is pill, tablet or liquid. So I called the pharmacy. They say "I believe it is gluten-free. Doesn't look like there is anything in it" Ok...that was reassuring! So I call the dr and they tell me to call...
  11. I know this subject came up on the board and saw this. Thought you might find it interesting since you all were talking about it.. I find it sad. ______________ A First Communion dream in doubt By Kathleen Burge, Globe Staff | April 12, 2006 The white dress from Sears is hanging in her closet, near the long veil and the matching purse. She has practiced...
  12. Thanks!! I'll give her a copy of those tests. I have no idea what exactly she had done on the test as my girl friend wasn't certain. I told her to just try a gluten-free diet. She says she won't unless there is cause. You know....too much work! We have heard that all before. I told her it certainly can't hurt. I did suggest the food diary. I do that...
  13. 42 views and no advise?? I am new to this. I can give my opinion to her but I am not certain I would be right!! No one wants to help?
  14. I know the answer to this but I wanted to see what you all thought.... My girl friend mother has been very sick for years. She often throws up after eating and has GI problems including consitpation and diarrhea. Her stomach is very swollen and she also has other problems like headaches and joint problems. She just had surgery for adhesions (sp) of...
  15. That is soooooo great!! I thikn this is such a wonderful idea!! Hopefully some more on here will join in!
  16. Maybe the teachers at your church can read a story about children who are all different and then talk about what makes each child in class different. (The library has some wonderful books for something like this.) Openly pointing out your DD's Celiac and what that means. She can basicly explain it like an allergy so the young children would better understand...
  17. I found this and thought I would share. I thought it was a great idea and even though it is based in NY, the bears travel all over the country. Just thought it might be something fun for the children (and the kids at heart) on here to look into... Open Original Shared Link
  18. It just seems I keep coming up to walls. I tried to get my husbands and my GP to give us a gene test. Nope....he doesn't know the referral numbers and wants to send us to a GI. All I want is the gene test. You go behind your nurses desk, open the big book from my insurance co and look up Celiac and get the number. I don't work in an office there but...
  19. *sigh* I am just going to bang my head against a wall as it seems that is the only thing that will listen to me!! Here is our current standing. Just a reminder...we have been on a wheat free diet for two months. It turned out to be a gluten free as she was also having reactions to oats and we think Barley. She was having diarrhea and diaper rashes...
  20. We have the Trix here...they're coming!!! They're coming!!!
  21. I havent' found the Kraft shaker cheese either
  22. I get that too from my family! My parents think an allergy is just a really long cold and the Celiac is something I made up and who can have an intollerance cause after all "all that kind of food is good for you and so how could it be bad for you?" The best part....."drink more water and don't eat late at night...that is the whole problem" LOL! I still...
  23. Why are you worring about what people think? I agree...the only one you have to worry about it your son and working with the drs. I dont' even mention Celiac or Gluten Intollerance to outside people. They wouldn't understand. I tell them she is allergic to wheat/barley/oats, etc. They understand that and don't need to know much more than that unless I...
  24. My GI said you cannot have it if you do not carry the gene. IMO you need to take a breath and regroup. It isn't Celiac. That is a good thing! An awesome thing!! So now focus on what it is or could be. Look into the intollerance. The symptoms are the same. The diet is the same. So if he is reacting good to the diet it is possible and likely. Talk with...
  25. Thanks! I'll try it again....with EGG!!! It was still good. I just would have liked the breading to be ON the chicken rather than me picking it out of the pan!!! LOL! I am not sure how my husband turned them. Maybe that was the problem. The tops that baked 1st had it on there but the bottom was stuck to the pan. Maybe he didn't use a turner of some...
