  1. Ok Missy!!! YOU DIDN'T SAY TO PUT IT IN EGG!!!!! In the recipe I cut and pasted from here is says to dip in water and keep it wet till you cover it in the pot. flakes!!!!! Hummmmm....so lets see if this is correct...... *DIP THE CHICKEN IN EGG and then into the pot. flake mixture (1cup flakes, 1/2 tsp garlic salt, 1/2 tsp paprika) *Bake 45 min...
  2. Coming from a history and family of FA and EA I would say your reactions are not allergy related. Allergy reactions tend to be more congrestion, hives, eczema, throwing up, sneezing, breathing problems, swelling of the face, etc. HOWEVER, that is not to say it 100% isn't as, like Celiac, people react to things differently. Food reactions tend to be more...
  3. I tried your "fried" chicken recipe with the potato flake coating. It was good but a lot of the coating came off. Did I do something wrong when I did it? How do I get it to stay on and crunchy???
  4. Unfortunately symptoms is all I have to go by right now. Makes it even harder. I will be so happy when we have an answer. I just thought it odd that she would react so obviously and strongly to oats and wheat and yet not to barley. When I found out she had barley I took cover and expected the worse. I kept her off the barley in the beginning of the diet...
  5. Oh isn't that the truth. Life would be so much easier if she would just follow the textbook somewhere along the line for something!!! I think she left that at the hospital!!!!
  6. We are still in the testing mode and are not "offical" Celiac. For those that don't remember, Delaney has reacted to wheat and oats and we are getting ready to head to a GI in April. Never had rye and has been gluten-free for two months. My mother gave Delaney baby food that was barley based. Barley, beef and carrots with a rice starch. Nothing else...
  7. We love the Gluten Free Pantry pancake mix too. My kids that can have gluten fight over them. I havent' found a bread that makes me really do backflips. I kinda liked the Gluten Free Pantry Fav. Sandwich Bread Mix. It is a bit heavy but tastes good. I like it more like a cinn. bread I think. We weren't impressed with Energ Tap. bread either. Oh well...
  8. Yes it is possible. It is something we are looking into as well. The ped. GI said that you can be just gluten intoll. and then there is Celiac. They are not the same nor are they related. Our reactions are the same as you listed. But we also have some allergy reaction as well (hives and eczema). IMO the diet alone doesn't diagnose Celiac. It just tells...
  9. I can't give expert advise as I am new here but I will say that diaper rash and diarrhea was my 1st key that something wasn't right. It would get bad like you mentioned and bleed. Since going gluten free-no rashes. Now if you didn't have any Celiac in your family I might suggest seeing an allergist 1st but since you are, then I would go right for the testing...
  10. The GI said that North Europian decent where at higher risk. But if you go by your theory with the American Indian then I gave a double whammy there! LOL! My guess is that American Indians had more of a corn intake as their base for grain? Interesting on the grains evolving. I can see that.
  11. Ahhhh I like reading posts like this! Gives me some ideas on where to head!!! I laughed about the health food stores...I had some of those yucks too! So far I have liked The Gluten Free Pantry items. Haven't had anything from there that wasn't good. Glutino has some good stuff too. And Enjoy Life....their cookies are good so say my kids. Haven't...
  12. Wow this is interesting! We are having my DD tested for this so I will give you HER parents background ..... Me-Irish, Spanish and American Indian Daddy's-English and Polish Just from the few responses....your books seem right! I will have to show my husband this as we were just talking about this over the weekend! Added: I was looking...
  13. Oh yeah!! In my store there was a gluten free freezer with all the baked items frozen or you could go into the bakery section and there was some there not frozen. There was pizza crusts, dough, carrot cake, small pies, breads, spice bread and banana, scones, biscuits, etc. It was great! Then I found things mixed into the shelves like the pasta and frozen...
  14. I dont' have much advise for you being new myself but I so felt your frustration! Just wanted to send (((((hugs))))) and glad that you now have an answer. In regard to the ped. GI... would think they would be able to guide you in this. Seems odd. I haven't been to a GI yet but have spoken to two ped. GIs in an unoffical setting and they were very...
  15. I can't comment with opinions as we too are new but I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone. We aren't "offical" either. Kinda taking baby steps at the moment. But I have found this board and everyone on it to be so helpful and understanding. This was my stepping stone too and the support is great. Even for us non-offical people! Wanting...
  16. We are kinda in the same boat. My daughter is on a gluten-free diet now too without being tested. We started out with a wheat free for an allergy trial and ended up gluten-free! I just went to a local support group meeting this weekend and there was a ped. GI there as a guest speaker. This is what I came up with after hearing her speak and I confirmed it...
  17. Just wanted to post a fast THANKS!!! I made a list and walked into the store and found everything on it!! $67!!!! Just for one little girl!!!! But it will pretty much last me for a whole other month (or even more). We picked up bread again (which she didn't need but will and I won't have to make another trip) and mixes that were on sale and I can...
  18. By solids I assume you are meaning baby foods vs. table foods. Delaney was told to start baby foods at 4 months due to drinking a lot of formula. She wasn't interested. At all! We tried again at 6 month, 7 months, 8 months.....I was lucky to get a full jar into her a day!!! I started her on table foods (and of course they were grains like crackers and...
  19. Thanks guys!! I made a list of everything you said so I can check it out!!! Can't wait!!! LOL!
  20. I am making a trip there on Sat. and wanted to know what everyone suggests looking into. Keep in mind this is for my 1yr (12 month) old daughter! What yummy, to die for, can't stay on this diet without it items do you think I should look for? Pizzas? Breads? Cookies? Snacky foods? Cereals? HELP!
  21. Ok...not sure where Clark is? We are in southern NJ near Vineland. I just know you are going to say it is Northern. Everything is northern!!!!
  22. Someone else on here mentioned the stool sample too. I will keep that in mind. It might be the way for us to go since she isn't on gluten. If we end up doing the blood sample and she has to go back on gluten....how long prior to the testing do we have to do that? A few days? A week? A month? Anyone know? I am actually thinking on having myself...
  23. We use Glutino Gluten Free Crackers. Very good! No nuts listed anywhere on the package. It does say "may contain traces of sesame, milk and soy"
  24. We just returned from the allergist. He was not so happy with my results of the diet and the anemia. I should say he was happy that she has improved but was not happy with the fact that she reacted to either or both barley and oats. And he didn't like that I said that her diaper rash that I battle when she eats grains is around her anus and not a regular...
  25. She is only 1. So I don't think it is woman problems....yet! And she is on vits. but not iron. Sorry....I guess I should have given more info.... She is currently being tested on a trial diet for wheat allergy but is showing problems with other grains (oats and barley) and yet tests neg. in allergy tests with the exception of the barley being boardline...
