ARCHIVED Traveling To Hershey And Lancaster, Pa
mrsnj91 replied to risegluck's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
We go to Good and Plenty in Lancaster! Yum! It is a family style resturant where you sit with other folks and dine family style. The menu changes daily so I would call 1st to ensure there is something there he can have and likes. We just ate there about two weeks ago and DD had ham, corn and mashed potatoes with ice cream for dessert. They do make things... -
It is probably too late for the OP....Hope you have a great trip.... But I wanted to post for those reading.... I was going to take the train for vacation. I called Amtrak and did not have a positive response. I was told that they do not provide gluten-free foods. That the food is premade and packaged to go. They do have other special diet menus like...

ARCHIVED Travel Suggestions By Plane...
mrsnj91 replied to mrsnj91's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Thanks guys! That helped relieve my mind some. So, 1st step is to get a dr note and make copies. I was going to use a small soft shell cooler. That would be ok? And Karen, when you sent your food through check in, did you use icepacks in that? I was debaiting if I should just do icepacks or if I should look into dry ice. And if I should send it... -
We are heading to Disney in August and I THINK I have mastered the dining at the resort but I am not sure how to handle the airport. With all the new regulations I am might need some ideas and help! ARCHIVED Ignorant Server Of The Day
mrsnj91 replied to floridanative's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I went this weekend to a local convience store in my area and asked for a bunless hotdog for my DD. The girl behind the counter just looked at me like I was crazy. I explained she had an allergy and couldn't have the bun. So the girl, still looking at me like I was talking another language, walked around the counter to the hotdog case and took out a hotdog... -
ARCHIVED Non-celiac Wheat Allergies?
mrsnj91 replied to FeedIndy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
We had a similar story just without the celiac testing. My Dd was 8-9 months old when I noticed something wasn't right. I knew it was related to items with wheat in it but wasnt' sure if it was wheat or something else. I would give her crackers, get a reaction, take her off and clear up. I did this cycle for 4 months with dr. visits inbetween. My final... -

ARCHIVED Could These By Gluten Symptoms
mrsnj91 posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My DD has had the following symptoms for almost two weeks. I have already taken her to the dr last week thinking it might have been her ears and except for the red throat she was fine but we are still dealing with the symptoms. Do you think she might be getting gluten from somewhere or do you think she might be just sick still? *Symptoms started almost... -

Hi Jay!!! It is Kimberly aka Kimberlee!! Nice to see you on the board! We are on the allergic wagon too with Wheat, oats, peanuts, eggs, fish and strawberries. She isn't allergic to it all...thank GOD. We are not giving big no-no's to be safe. Until she is 2-3 years anyway. She is allergic to the wheat and oats though. Izak's Mom- you... -
ARCHIVED How Long After Accidental Glutening.....
mrsnj91 replied to mrsnj91's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Well at least I know I am not alone. Sometimes I just wonder if it is from a virus or another food allergy or if she got into something or was it that cracker, etc. Her current fav. place to search for food is the trach can in the kitchen! She keeps me on my toes. I try my best to restrict her but I also have a family daycare in home and that too keeps... -
ARCHIVED Is There Such A Thing?
mrsnj91 replied to mrsnj91's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Thanks for the replies. I had a feeling I was at a dead end. Thing is that I HATE to cook so it is nice to have those ready made things when we are on the go and I can just grab and run. Other problem I have is that she won't touch certain foods like pasta or fresh fruit and she is on an allergy restricted diet...no fish, shellfish, eggs, peanuts, etc.... -
ARCHIVED Is There Such A Thing?

Is there such a thing as gluten free/wheat free baby food? I have hit the toddler stage and it is nice to be able to have handy a few foods for on the go like the Gerber Grads, etc. But everything they make is like 90% pasta!! Or has wheat starch in it. I am getting so frustrated! Can I tell you how excited I get when I am in the babyfood isle and find... -
ARCHIVED How Long After Accidental Glutening.....

does your child start to get back to normal? My daughter is 16 months and does the typical geting into things , picking up her sisters food, finding things on the floor, etc. And we have had a few bouts over the last few weeks of her getting ahold of things she shouldn't. Each time I notice she won't eat for several days and we battle the poo and stuff...
