  1. So sorry for your loss. That is a horrible story. How awful to have to add that stress in addition to your mother being ill. They should be sued.
  2. I think the major social problem with celiac is that other people don't see the results of you ingesting gluten. With diabetes, peanut allergies etc, people understand the results of not maintaining the diet. With celiac, they don't see the sickness, diarrhea, etc that you endure if you ingest gluten. They don't understand that you can die if you keep...
  3. Thank you for the article. This is a major concern for older people who may need to go into a hospital for surgery or as this article points out a care facility. I hope she wins this case
  4. Thanks for the link. Medications have a package insert which discloses all ingredients, active and inactive. I am a pharmacist, retired, and this info is/ was attached to every bottle. A lazy pharmacist won't take the time. I always took the time and also gave the patient the insert.
  5. Iron deficiency anemia was my main symptom. I had anemia for years and took iron supplements. Another symptom I had was that I had to keep increasing my amount of thyroid that I was taking. My endocrinologist made me go to a GI Dr. When I went, the Dr said that he was 99% sure I had celiac. Did all the tests and it was confirmed. Back in the dark ages...
  6. This is a huge topic. My ex husband didn't care. Even though I had my own area where his food wasn't allowed, I'd find crumbs. I was always constantly cleaning. I threw a lot of food away because I wouldn't be sure if he had contaminated it. It really showed what a narcissistic person he was and is. Now I'm in my own home. Much better. I do have dogs...
  7. I never had bad stomach issues before I was diagnosed. What I did have was anemia and hashimoto's thyroid disease. The celiac was suspected because I had to keep taking higher and higher doses of synthroid just to try to get out of hypothyroidism and also the unresolved anemia. Once I had the blood tests, celiac was confirmed.
  8. Very interesting article. My father had type one diabetes. I was always worried I would develop diabetes. I must have had the group that gave me celiac disease. I knew both were autoimmune diseases, but not how closely they were linked.
  9. It seems a lot of Kroger products are like this. I always read their labels carefully.
  10. I was diagnosed 14 years ago. At the time, information was scarce. Everything said life expectancy was 65. I'm now 72. I follow the diet very strictly. I actually adopted a grain free diet too, because I had so much brain fog and other issues that didn't heal with a gluten free diet. People with persistent issues should really look at eliminating grains...
  11. Try heallix solution. It's at heallix.com It's a silver and fulvic acid solution. I just put it on a cotton ball and wiped the shingles area. I also took a little internally once a day. I can't remember how many times a day I applied to the area. Probably 3-4 times a day. It was the only thing that stopped the nerve pain. I don't know if the vaseline is...
  12. This explains a lot. I had a severe leg injury when I was younger. I've had several surgeries. I was super careful, but always got cellulitis. Interesting article. Even when I was gluten free and had surgery, I still got cellulitis.
  13. Good article. Everyone expects healing within a few weeks. I remember not feeling good until 4 months into the gluten free diet. In fact, the first month was horrible. I felt way worse. This is due to a large part of addiction to wheat. It feels like withdrawal symptoms. Your body wants the gluten no matter what. At 4 months, I remember waking up one...
  14. Thank you for the links to the articles. Interesting reading. I'll be telling my brother in law because he has a lot of pain
  15. Thank you for this article. I am grain free also so it's hard to find grain free processed foods. They're available. Mostly cookies and crackers etc. After reading this I'm ending my nightly cookies. Once in awhile only.
  16. You might try Heallix. It's a silver solution with fulvic acid. I just put the solution on with a cotton ball. It seemed to stop the nerve pain. Again, not in your eyes or ears. Go to heallix.com to read more about it and decide for yourself Also, I do think nerve and celiac combined have a lot to do with your susceptibility to shingles breaking out...
