  1. I have not seen anything posted by celiac3270 lately. For his age, he is so wise and knowlegeable. He used to be on this message board all the time and now I never see anything by him. Barbara
  2. There is a bakery in Antigo, Wisconsin called Life Without Wheat and they have THE BEST gluten-free bakery stuff that I have ever had. My friend happened to be at the Trigs store in Rhinelander and brought me some cookies. I went there and got some chocolate cream filled cupcakes, peanut butter cookies, and raspberry thumprint cookies that are THE BEST...
  3. Blue Bunny Ice Cream is all gluten-free except the obvious ones. Their Bunny Tracks is sooooo good.
  4. Some time ago, I started a thread like this and got little response. I thought it would get a bigger one. It would be very interesting to know just how to find a good doctor that REALLY knows somthing about this, but truely I think the people on this board know more about celiac and gluten intolerance and most doctors do.
  5. These have all been good suggestions.....fibro and thyroid. I have both and very dry eyes. I take lots of magnesium with malic acid plus Mobic which is a strong anti-inflammitory which keeps the fibro in check (other than some flares during times of stress) and I take Synthroid for the thyroid condition. There are no blood tests for fibro, only ones to...
  6. Had the full panel and it was the best money I could have spent as I was one of the ones that came up negative in testing at the doctor's office. I also found out I carry a gene which can explain where my granddaughter came up with full-blown celiac disease. I am gluten-intolerant. There have been some symptoms that have plagued me all my life that have...
  7. I, too, take magnesium with malic acid as suggested by my health store owner for fibromyalgia and I it works also for my constipation along with eating gluten-free. Each pill has 62.5 mg magnesium and 250 mg malic acid and I take two in the AM and two in the PM. They are kind of expensive and I should go on the internet to see if I could get them cheaper...
  8. Yes, I know. My son goes there on Sundays as he lives in Oconomowoc and can make it over there to buy the fresh stuff. I, actually, am going to be in Southern Wisconsin on Sunday June 11......but I don't think I will make it to Madison that day. I do know that U-Bake has great cinnamon rolls from Grandma Ferdon's bakery. I keep them in the freezer and...
  9. The Bread Barn has gluten-free stuff all the time, it is just that they have FRESH stuff on Sunday....the rest of the days it is in the freezer. I concur that Imperial Gardens is awesome and what a treat to ask for gluten-free soy sauce and get it without hesitation or to be able to order a dish with bown sauce instead of white all the time. When in Madison...
  10. Adding some fish oil gel tabs really works for me if I get constipated....I also take lots of magnesium all the time and then of course eating gluten-free. YOu have to find the combination that works for you. Barbara
  11. This could certainly be fibromyalgia. It is a type of arthritis that is in your muscles and tendons rather than in your joints. I was diagnosed with it before I found out that I was gluten intolerant. I take a strong anti-inflammitory called Mobic daily, a lot of magnesium with malic acid and also calcium and a vitamin D pill. In spite of all of that...
  12. If you get a Whole Foods near you anytime, try their sandwich bread, it is even better than the Kinnikkinikk....I wonder how many different spellings there are out there for that???----anyway, I buy it when I can't get the Whole Foods stuff but it isn't as good. I remember when I first found kin------, I had been eating something that I had from the health...
  13. If you can find a Whole Foods Store, their sandwich bread is great. Also their cinnamon raisen bread. These are the best I have tasted yet. I like a sandwich now and then and don't want to have to toast the bread all the time and you sure don't have to with this sandwich bread. Barbara
  14. TAKE EVERYONE'S PREVIOUS ADICE AND GET A NEW DOCTOR.....THIS GUY IS DANGEROUS. IT IS MY OPIONION THAT DR. FINE'S TESTS WILL BE THE GOLD STANDARD ONE DAY AND WE WILL BE ABLE TO GO BACK TO THOSE DOCTORS THAT JUST DIDN'T GET IT AND SAY "I TOLD YOU SO"---WOULDN'T THAT BE GREAT? BARBARA
  15. It's interesting how it all goes.....TMJ years ago, migraines for over 30 years, fibro dx three years ago and now a gluten intolerance (with a gene dx) two years ago----a definite thread to be found here. Going to be 61 soon, the migraines still come occasionally, but THANK GOD for Imitrex, TMJ totally under control, take some serious meds for the fibro...
  16. I agree that they included it because more people are becoming aware that they must eat gluten free, are buying gluten-free products and are requesting gluten-free selections in restaurants. Anytime we can get information out there, it is a good thing, so I don't think this is a negative thing. Meb MD is generally a good site. We need to look at the positive...
  17. Many years ago I had a raging case of TMJ. I treated with a dentist that specialized in this. He made a special splint which I wore all the time and also I had some PT in his office. It got better enough that I could only wear the splint at night for many years to follow. I didn't grind my teet, but I did clench very badly. He wanted to build up my teeth...
  18. What size pan did you use and how did you prepare the pan?
  19. Really do have to reinforce that fibro and the gluten issue do go hand-in-hand. I think that is what tipped it for my DDIL when she suggested that I get tested to see if possibly I should start eating gluten-free. I am nearly 61, have to work pretty much full time, sometimes more and I take lots of medicine. I take Topomax and Verapamil to ward off migraines...
  20. The other thing to think about is that Dr. Phil's wife, Robin, also has said that she doesn't eat gluten, however she said some time ago that she eats Ezekial bread and, if I am right, I don't think that is gluten-free. She is very vocal and could also be someone that could speak out in favor of this issue. Maybe we could go after her. Just a thought....
  21. Just emailed Elisabeth at The View, so let's see what her reply will be. It can't hurt if lots of people would email her. Just go to www.abc.com and the The View and you can get to her email. To have someone so beautiful, young and healthy looking have a gluten intolerance that would be willing to speak out on this issue would be great. Encourage her...
  22. The doctor that I have now is not particularly knowlegable about gluten issues and their relationship to other autoimmunie diseases. This is not new news to any of you, but I was just wondering that if any of you had conducted a search in your town for a new internist that was sensitive to these issues, just how you went about it. As I have a $2500 deductible...
  23. Bob's Red Mill Gluten Free All Purpose Flour Mixture. I sub it in on recipes with success most of the time. I used it because I think I am too lazy to try buying other flours and mixing them together. I am happy with Bob's. I use it to thicken white sauce and gravy too I don't bake bread so I don't know how it would perform there. The two recipes on...
  24. Here's an idea for you.....when you make these brownies, pour a serious amount of Junior Mints over the brownies right after they come out of the oven and just leave it. They will adhere to your brownies and create the "frosting". I took these to an event a church recently and people were coming up to me to ask for my "recipe". Do not spread the Junior...
  25. My mother says she went to Olive Garden today and they had a gluten free menu for her. There were three items on it: the T-Bone, pork and salmon. I had pretty much figured out that the steak and salmon were gluten-free as our family had eaten there recently, but now they say the pork is gluten-free too. I know a lot of gluten-free people steer clear of...
