  1. Wow, I hope you and your family are all safe and sound!! Watching that I thought of the same thing. I don't have anything to add but good wishes
  2. Right now I think I am fighting a bit of depression. I think it comes from frustration. Little things seems to pile up and it drives me crazy. I love Amys pizza and now the health food store changed hands and they don't carry it or Tinkyada pasta. Stupid things like that. I want to travel and I am so afraid of getting ill. My family is trying very hard...
  3. I emailed Smirnoff and they said their Vodkas are gluten-free (but they did not tell me what grains). Smirnoff Ice is not gluten-free. I thought I kept the email but I can not find it.
  4. Oh Karen I am sorry. I would wait a couple of days and try 1/2 a pill once a day, then twice a day if it isn't enough. I don't think I could tolerate more than 1 to 1 1/2 a day.
  5. Thanks for the suggestions. I will try the book. I think I am making myself clear and my husband is not afraid to speak up and say "she has food allergies, she will get very sick". I heard Thai food was fairly safe and "real" mexican food is fairly safe too. I remember someone else saying they had a food card to give to them. One place we tried to find...
  6. The first night we get there we have dinner at a very nice restaurant that was very accomodating for me. I had a simple steak, baked potato and steamed asparagus. The next day, my anniversary, we have breakfast in the coffee shop. I can't eat eggs or cheese so I have a steak and fruit. We sit out by the pool and I have one drink, a smirnoff vodka and...
  7. Tinkyada is the best! My non gluten-free family like it better than wheat pasta.

I am traveling too tomorrow and am afraid of getting ill myself. I plan on bring some things with me that I know are safe. Thai kitchen instant soups, rice cakes, peanut butter, unsalted peanuts. Rice cakes and peanut butter, to me, are good since they have protein and manage to stay with me for awhile. I also am bringing some pepto bismul, altoids and...
  9. I find that Immodium, for me, is too harsh. Eventually I "explode" . It is very painful. One trick I learned from the IBS board is to take half a caltrate-d calcium pill with every meal. Calcium is naturally constipating and caltrate is one that does not add as much magnesium which is a laxative(they add it to counteract the constipating effects of calcium...
  10. Judy, that is the same medication I take and it is on the list of medications causing drug induced lupus. I, too, take it to regulate my heartbeat since I am prone to palpitations. I wonder though if the palpitations are caused by celiac and now gluten-free would I still have to take that type of meds, (my blood pressure is still high though). I am going...

Have you talked to your ob/gyn about the nuvaring? I use it and it works well for me. The doctor told me that since the hormones go directly to the uterus and not through the blood stream it has less side effects. There is a yahoo group dedicated to the Nuvaring if you want to ask questions of others who are using it.
  12. That is a very interesting comment about beta blockers. I was switched from a calcium channel blocker to a beta blocker and that is when my symptoms started to appear. I have asked every doctor if there is a relationship and they all said no. My gi told me that the calcium channel blocker was constipating and thus masking my symptoms, but in the back of...
  13. Now I am getting joint pain (knees, hips), leg cramps at night and I feel very hot all the time. I am pretty sure I am gluten free and casein free right now. Is this a normal "withdrawl" symptom? My diarrhea has, for the most part, gone away. So has the brain fog and vertigo but I still have those little red petechiae on my legs. (The doctor looked at...
  14. Thanks Kim for the info. I guess Benihana is a risk with cross contamination. I emailed them a couple of weeks ago and I never heard back. I guess that answers that question. My biggest problem is that I am afraid to speak up. I am pretty new at this and I was hoping to have my food planned before I get there but I guess I have to speak up. It is Vegas...
  15. Yes that is it, Tinkyada. It is awesome. I was worried that in order to have spaghetti I would have to cook two types of pasta but my husband siad he would try it. I was so relieved when he enjoyed it!
  16. Hi Sheryl, I am having the same symptoms for the last few days. I am pretty sure I am gluten and casein free now but I think I am overloading on carbs and not enough fiber. Since the constant diarrhea has cleared up I have not changed my eating habits. Oh and i discovered an awesome rice pasta (the brand begins with a T and I can not remember what it is...
  17. I just checked a webpage Open Original Shared Link and it says lomotil contains gluten
  18. I would love to exchange recipes!
  19. I looked at the label and to me it looks safe. Thank you, thank you Karen for finding this out. I would have never guessed this was the problem for me. That is what I love about this board. I would have never known.
  20. Oh, geez Karen. I have been taking Gasx the last few days and for the life of me I could not figure out why I am feeling bad. I have had leg cramps, dizzy spells, foggy head, the feeling of floating when I walk, etc. I have been so very careful so I was starting to get a bit paranoid that maybe something else was wrong. Well, I guess if I had doubts before...
  21. Carls Jr. Low carb 6 dollar burger is pretty good. They wrap it in a lettuce leaf and you eat it like a burger. It is alot better than knife and fork!
  22. Kim, I am going to Vegas for my wedding anniversary to see Van Halen, woohoo!! I worry the most about the diners for breakfast. Have you found any problems with them? I am not sure what to do about breakfast. We paid alot for the tickets and the last thing I want to do is get sick. I thought about bringing Thai kitchen soup bowls for lunches, I can...
  23. I am trying to find out that info too. I know there is an Outback there too. I have emailed some hotels and restaurants and am waiting for their replies. Let me know what you find out and I will post the replies when I get them.
  24. That would be a good compromise. I will have to see where I can get some. Thanks for the replies
  25. I saw an internist who looked at me and told me it was IBS and I was just a nervous person. He did not even do any tests at all. I never went back.
