  1. First things first .... WELCOME HOME no really because you don't realise it yet but your story is far from uncommon so make yourself at home and start reading our books as it were. and your story is far from uncommon (unfortunately) again welcome to the club! Many people are also non-symptomatic. However you may find you have other...
  2. Well I think #6 is outstanding! But my understanding is that #2 is non-negotiable and has been asked before... much as I agree with you that it works better. The rest I agree 100%..... #6 I agree 200%
  3. Ok then same advice I give ALL noobies... Drop everything with allergens for 3 months and I mean milk, soy specifically but you can remove anything YOU suspect... and then start adding stuff gradually and one at once like goats cheese.... Take NO CC risks and NO hidden gluten/soy/casein/lactose risks... Just go totally natural for 3 months...
  4. Lets put this straight..... Firstly wheat starch is usually produced by washing the grain in water. Starch is soluble and gluten and glutamine are not ..... except there is really no such thing as not. So parts of the gluten are carried intot he product BUT since the gluten is "non-toxic" noone cares (except us) The scientific way this is described...
  5. I really agree.... I would rather use cheap Ikea pans than good quality CC ones.... it is just so not worth the risk. Cast iron skillets and stainless can be really cleaned .. ultimately you can use emery paper or a drill attachment and strip back the metal and remove any scratches (if its cast iron you need to re proove it afterwards) Also large...
  6. I think a retreat would be better because you never know what you will come up contemplating and if you might need another human soul to discuss it. I know these exist for catholics .... I think you would enjoy a regimented regime of praying, solitude and communion with your God but having time to be alone as well. This has been available to catholics...
  7. The actual sampling might have improved but the biopsy is just testing a symptom.... and that hasn't changed. Everyone is different ... for instance if you use the term "latent celiac" then lots of people have "near normal" biopsies for years ... then one day they destroy villi faster than repairing them and the process becomes self feeding. As has...
  8. Kaiti ..... Really that's sad because it means the community looses your experience when really there is perhaps somethig that can be done? We already had some ideas and I'm sure as a group we can think of others IF as a group we know what the problems are!
  9. Lilyth: I don't know if anyone knows too much about the fermented mash goes into spirits, largely because for the end product its not so critical but I do know quite a bit about wine fermentation and I have a friend knows even more. What I know about fermenting wines is that the process is pretty complex and that it is highly variable which is why wines...
  10. Tawnia .. you will make a more objective descision AFTER you stop tearing yourself apart (I know you know that too) I'm 38 .. do you think my mother has stopped worying about me? Of course not she's my mother But you know I'm celiac and my brother isn't. I was formula fed and he wasn't and my mum still worries that its her fault and I keep...
  11. Only one way to find out... short of quizzing them and you just did it .... Even if you ask them its not guaranteed ... so I can't class it as a boo-boo so much as a learning experience!
  12. Its really simple, it just means creating a new category (like chat/gab) and setting permissions so only mods can write. If Scott has to do it all (i.e. its admin provs only) then its a lot of extra work for him I would assume.... and I think that's why having a thread where only mods can post is a good idea.... its more dynamic and as Vincent...
  13. Well that is equally fine... if you look through these papers then you will see many respected specialists in celiac do not count biopsy as crucial in diagnosis.... This is why I gave you the link because you need to make up your own mind and think about if a biopsy is worth it. Moreoever the trend is definately against biopsy as a gold standard....
  14. What other meds are you on.....??? I personally get terrible long headaches extending into my back and shoulders from Nexium.... most people don't but I do. I can use a generic omneparazole (and yet some others can't).... and so in many ways it could be some other medication just isn't suited to YOU and another close one might not? Worth a shot...
  15. No amount of gluten will make any difference by next Tuesday. (sorry) Well, quite a few but I don't know if you will like them. Blood tests also give a definate diagnosis ... you can read up on this yourself (I'm not telling you what to do but your MD is probably wrong and out of date) Open Original Shared Link Secondly.... gluten-lite...

    ARCHIVED Dove?

I have never had problems with Dove and I have problems with others though it may be a different product in Europe (or not)
  17. I agree.... you need the RESULTS of the blood test and you need to make sure you get a full panel Open Original Shared Link The WHOLE LOT are needed, specially total serum IgA especially in a 2 yr old since the tests are less likely to be positive in a 2 yr old (you can read here and find out why) You can get the blood taken NOW.... (or tomorrow...
  18. Jules.... This is exactly how I felt when I was being "micro-glutened"..... I couldn't figure it out.... I lost tons of weight to a point where the DR was really worried and I was eating things I was so certain were gluten-free.... my diet got increasingly more limited as I couldn't find what is was. In the end it was a brand of tortilla chips......
  19. What a great thread!

    ARCHIVED Introduction

Oooh Ricco. You Dutch people have a great weay to make native English people feel inadequate. I wish my French was half as good as your "broken English". I'm only down in Paris .... practically down the street
  21. Tawnia.... as I posted at first, this is a tiny difference and I bet it will change in the future. (I personally beleive it will depend on factors like if you are gluten-free at the time or not and if you were gluten-free in pregnancy or not for technical reasons related to IgA and IgG but I'm not a MD) You need to be comfortable with your decision and...
  22. Then apologies in advance ... you realise I'm posting this as a friend and not taking the easy way and letting the thread die with you feeling like this. Also just because I don't pray doesn't mean you are not in my thoughts.... I think you answer that youself .... Ursula how about a religious retreat where the emphasis is on self introspection...
  23. Well, it could be any mod.... but they should probably have some process before changing a post that everyone agrees on (IMHO) BUT also be able to add temporary ammendum's since products do change fast then the temporary ammendum can be incorprated into the text.
  24. I'm all for it .. I mean all publicity is good publicity? I figured I'd let it run even after mouse probably summed it up best in the second post. I don't always say things the best way because of many reasons ... I do have work to do between posts for instance ... but also because sometimes a thread needs a good hard shake too. (and my glutened...
  25. English living in France.... Of course I'm keeping quiet I'm just eavesdropping
