You know the little guys who come i the night and steal your underware. Its usually odd socks but sometimes other stuff gopes missing only to turn up hidden in a comforter cover or something later... Don't you have them in America? To check you need a packet of lucky charms and dig a big hole .. in the morning you can pull out assorted eleves... -
ARCHIVED Upset About What Colleauge Did To Me!

First off the only weird thing from my perspective is involving the child! That though is said in the context of I don't think many things like this are FUNNY.... Stag parties? Hen nights? need I go on? I can understand you not wanting to make a huge fuss and equally understand why you are so upset. Perhaps working with children is rubbing... -

Surprised? No I know not everyone beleives in santa Phased? Certainly, the shoe elves are usually very reliable. I don't know what they have done with my shoes and the underpants gnomes have stolen my pants.... of course I'm phased! -

I find that hard to believe. A certain 'Serb' born in what is now Niš claimed to be Roman ... though his mother was a local 'Serbian' and the record on the parentage of his father are so heavily doctored as to make it impossible to know. Have you got haplogroup R1a (Y-DNA) and haplogroup I (Y-DNA)? How about the broader J, E and G ? See Barac ... -

Wonderful advice so far... but you have me confused. The photo looks like it has a circular polariser in some ways but in others it looks a lot more linear? Oh, yeah and you have celiac .... Sorry, I'm not being facetious, Im just focussing on your other more interesting things. You choose to be a photographer .. you don't choose to be... -
given the last two avatars I'm tempted to suggest a light bite of live dormice for breakfast... soft on the outside and crunchy on the inside and a more substantial lunch of assorted small birds. Dinner is often problematic so many cat's nowadays have busy schedules and eat prepacked food but i prefer the exersize and going out and catching assorted rodents...

Yeah the only thing I'd say though is unless the shoes are a perfect fit I tend to find that having two slightly different pairs helps because they tend to always rub somewhere..... When i was younger and more foolish I used to do lots of types of running including fell running. Obviously the shoes are very different and specialised but when i was doing...

Well if a T-cell detects it then it starts the whole process. Chance is it won't but 1 molecule is ... minicule/a lot .. really really small.... a single crumb contains millions so its best to just think the tiniest amount you can imagine then divide that by 100. the 1/49th thing is really old. Its just the how much to eat to get a biopsy if I remember... -

I know what you mean .... chicken breast is the only part most people seem to eat (except wings but that's different) and thighs are much tastier and juicier and CHEAPER too..... However I find if you are doing breast wrapping it in foil and loads of wine really helps... (gives it some taste too which most people seem to miss out on eating only... -

I think we all stagnate into comfort foods. As your kids get older they will become more adventurous food wise, specially if you keep expanding it... seriously the pork flambee is a party piece.. used correctly you can have em clamouring for it just for the show while you and hubby can eat some non kiddy food -

gfp replied to gfp's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Yes but you obviously needed specialist attention. I don't think anyone is saying home births are for everyone but they are safer today than ever because of all the pre-natal technology. We have ultrasound and much more so that those who need special attention should be pre-identified. Equally as many have said midwife doesn't have to mean home birth... -

In that case .... I'd say (though haven't tried it) make a stuffing from gluten-free bread crumbs and sage ... use 4 large breasts and make it into a roll.... offset them slightly so when its rolled its like a spiral with the stuffing wrapped in the ham... You can also add pine nuts ... This sort of thing is really good for a treat... I do a similar... -
ARCHIVED On gluten-free Diet But No Improvement
gfp replied to a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Starting gluten-free is always hard..... some really lucky people get positive effects really quickly, others take longer. Sometimes those who react well immediately then go through a phase of reacting badly...before they feel better again. Nearly everyone who starts a gluten-free diet looks back in 6 months and see's they were not really gluten... -

It'll have to be my girlfriend since I don't have a biometric passport and will never get one so unless the US changes its rules I won't be coming any time soon.... My girlfriend on the other hand has an American passport so doesn't need a biometric one. Believe me I have 20-30 friends in the US from top to bottom and East to West who I would love to visit... -

I used to work for a company who had a policy on eMail which states "rough translation" I actually thought whomever wrote this must be a complete idiot till I met them. They tried 5 times to tell the person telling them to write this it was illogical BUT on the 5th time they were told that they would receive a written warning letter if they refused... -

Yes but firstly I don't think you are an average anything... and I think you care about quality of food far more than the average American. Whereas cheaper places might not have over an 8oz steak they probably do have 8oz burgers and I think a lot of people do expect to eat meat twice a day. Also the 8oz steak or burger in France is not a regular... -

Agree completely....... I even wish that they would label apples and stuff gluten-free just to help confused noobies. The codex standard itself is VERY bizarre. First off its NOT a European standard its a WHO standard and its completely optional. As it happens the board has representatives from Canada and the US but the EU only has a single one... -

I base this on quite a few things but Supersize me obviously does exert some influence. Firstly my girlfriend is American and visits family frequently in the US. From her definition of being a "naturalised" European culturally the amount of meat eaten is exceptional... along with the frequency of it. Secondly I have a lot of American friends, I... -
ARCHIVED Quitting Challenge After 2 Days! Omg
gfp replied to chgomom's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
That perhaps seemingly niaeve question really sums it up! In its simple and crudest form a gluten challenge is where you deliberatly try and damage an important internal organ which may never repair fully so that someone can take a sampleof it while damaged and confirm its damaged. Longer answer .... I think its a historical question and also... -

Go ahead... my knowledge was somewhat gained accidentally more than anything. My BSc. dissertation involved balancing the chemistry of rocks according to trace elements and it involved writing a program to do this on lots of samples. At the same time I was a typical undiagnosed skinny celiac trying hard to put on weight and I was sharing a house with... -
Yep buying running shoes is a crap shoot. I agree with everything here although I have found that out of the real running shoes some makes are consistently closer to the shape of your foot. Obviously decent makes like NB also come in width fittings as well. I have a very high arch which doesn't help so if I buy the wrong shoe the "comfortable" size...

ARCHIVED I Ate Chicken Nuggets After Talking To My New Doc -- Hellp!
gfp replied to chgomom's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I don't think you need to be a doc to say that the biopsy can't do anything but confirm celiac disease. What I'm saying is that waiting a month (which in itself may not be long enough for a postive biopsy anyway) {According to the medical papers I linked to not my opinion} in order to rule out or rule in celiac doesn't make sense. I really take to... -
ARCHIVED I Ate Chicken Nuggets After Talking To My New Doc -- Hellp!
gfp replied to chgomom's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Well if the MD really thinks you might have multiple myleoma then they would be testing for it and an intestinal biopsy cannot in ANY way test for mylenomo which affects bone tissue.... Secondly they would specifically test for Beta 2 microglobulin, albumin absense and perhaps a bone marrow biopsy from your hipbone. If they even suspect this they should...
