  1. Thanks so much about the food allergy panel advice. I didn't know such a thing existed. I thought skin pricking was as high tech as it got. I think I want to go with that, because I have several foods I suspect besides Glugen. Specifically, Almonds and Soy. Jerry
  2. Thanks to the poster who suggested this. I think it's what I want to do and I'm willing to pay out of pocket to have it done. The only question I have is, where do I go to do it? I'd appreciate suggestions from folks who know or have had this done. Also, does anyone know if you should just go on eating whatever, until you have the panel. Thanks...
  3. The problem is, I belong to Kaiser Permanente and they are basically crisis management only. If I go in to the office bleeding out of several orifices, they would check it out. If I go in there and say my stomach hurts and I think it might by Gluten or Soy, they're going to give me the usual condescending skeptical crap you always get from HMOs. I freaking...
  4. I gave myself a good week off of anything even potentially containing gluten for a week. Then I gave myself a good solid gluten challenge. I ate bread and all the gluten I could find. Not much reaction. Perhaps I got a little constipated, perhaps I felt a little tired and lethargic, but not a whole lot of reaction.... Try as I might, I couldn't seem...
  5. That is the way of Kaiser. They are only interested in making money. Anything that's deemed "not medically justified" they will not do....end of story. And I don't think their doctors are the best either, which is why they work for Kaiser..personal opinion..hope there are no Kaiser doctors out there
  6. Probably some of you remember my discussion about my tooth enamel loss. Brother has that also and had to have all his teeth capped. His gums and teeth were in terrible shape. Now I've had a difficult time convincing my brother that our tooth enamel loss, is clearly something genetic and could be consistent with Celiac. He complains frequently that...
  7. OK, really I already have my answer. It doesn't matter to me whether I get an official diagnoses of Celiac or if I'm gluten intolerant. However if I get a positive test result, then it would force myself and my family to take it seriously. My wife, bless her heart, won't think I'm off my rocker. Although she's coming around, after watching me get...
  8. For the past several months, I have been cognizant that It’s highly likely I’m gluten intolerant, if not an out and out Celiac. Because of this, while not making a serious effort to eliminate all gluten from my diet, I have been more aware of it. This means I’ve likely not been eating as much gluten containing foods. I’ve watched the symptoms ebb and flo...
  9. About three years ago, in the throes of a depression, I had Kaiser check my testosterone levels. My level on two separate tests was 240 ng/dl and 255 ng/dl. While barely within the accepted normal limits, it's also the level of an 80 year old man...(I'm 46). Any other doctor would have given me a trial of Testosterone supplementation, but not Kaiser...
  10. Thanks for your reply. Do you think I should even bother my Kaiser doctor with this, since I'm guessing to get about the same response you got? Would you go directly to Enterolab? I'm so sure I'm getting a reaction to Gluten that I think even Kaiser might be able to diagnose me now....
  11. Just wondering if there is anyone out there, like me, on Kaiser insurance. I'm betting they ignore Celiac symptoms as well as they ignore other things. Any experience out there?
  12. Howdy, Don't know if I've said this before, but I belong to the lovely Kaiser Permanente... Should I bother my gatekeeper/GP with my gluten sensitivity, or should I go directly to Enterolab? Frankly I've never gotten much from my HMO except when I've had strep throat. Other than that it's pretty much a waste of my time to go. Should I bother...

    ARCHIVED I Am So Proud...

Today after a couple days of being good, I ran 10 miles and was much more comfortable. It's really bad timing to have stomache cramps while running...... Hopefully I'll be able to get in to my doc next week and request a blood test. j
  14. OK I will work up the nerve to call my doctor. Ignoring it doesn't seem to be doing anything He says, while listening to his intestines rumble......
  15. I think my main problem is that I just don't want to admit that I have a problem. I can't seem to face the fact that gluten is making me sick, but the evidence it is staring me in the face. I'm having a terrible time coming to terms with it. I'm a runner. It's not uncommon for me to take a 10 mile run. Lately my body has decided that 5 miles into...
  16. Thanks for your responses everyone. I never did go to get tested after our Alaska cruise, life just sort of gets in the way of stuff, if you know what I mean. It's sort of like---you know--going to the dentist. Lots of people don't even think much about their teeth, until they look in the mirror and see a big hole. It's not like the symptoms bother...
  17. Hi everyone, It's been a while since I signed on. I stop thinking about the whole celiac thing, until I have a bout of symptoms. Usually things aren't too bad, and I've subconsciously adjusted my diet and tend to shy away of things that I know contain Gluten. This last weekend however, I was bad. I ate a ton of Chinese food on Friday night....
  18. A friend at work had a couple slices of this today and let me taste it. Tasted like regular bread to me. They're touting this stuff as "Wheat Free" sort of. They claim that by sprouting the wheat, it breaks down the Gluten and people are then able to digest it. Anyone heard of this and what do you think. Oh, yeah, sorry I haven't checked in for...
  19. Ok, my pain moves around. Sometimes it's up high at the base of my rib cage on the right side. Sometimes it's down low on the right, where you'd think your appendix would hurt. It's usually a stabbing or cramping type pain. Sometimes it feels like it's my stomach that hurts. Sometimes I feel like it's much lower than that...
  20. I'm curious about everyone's stomach symptoms, if you have them, and where it hurts. I won't tell you mine, until later, because I don't want to influence your answers. But if you could tell me where your stomach hurts and exactly how it hurts, (ache, stabbing pains etc...) I'd be very much interested. Jerry(as yet undiagnosed)
  21. Having just returned from an Alaska Cruise on Princess Cruise Lines, I'm pretty confident they would accomodate you. They specifically state in much of their documentation to let them know if you have any specific dietary requirements. Also, since there was a wide variety of foods available, I could easily pick out foods that likely contained Gluten...
  22. I think I'm going to try to consume gluten for a few more weeks then make an appt. I went a couple weeks gluten-free...so I just want to be sure to give it enough time. j
  23. Good question. Because I've decided to pursue an official diagnoses. I posted about this a couple weeks ago...
  24. Hey there. Hope everyone is doing well. Wanted to give an update about the cruise and how I'm feeling. The cruise went very well and I only got sick one time for several hours. This was the morning after I'd had four pieces of bread with dinner For the most part I ate a slice of bread or two with every dinner, but not much else in the...
  25. So after 4 gluten-free days and no Gastro symptoms, I ate a sandwich last night. Lovely Country White bread tasted heavenly...(sorry) This morning...right back to the loose floaty bulky smelly stools...boom. There is no longer any doubt in my mind that I am Gluten Intolerant...absolutely zero. The only question that remains is do I actually have...
