indyceliac replied to Fiddle-Faddle's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips

ARCHIVED Rice Crispies? Gluten Free Or Not?
indyceliac replied to mommyetb's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Some of the worst diet advice i ever got was from drs and nutritionists. Heck, awhile back when i was hospitalized..for breakfast they served me kellogs rice krispies.....and lunch was mushroom BARLEY soup.. and they KNEW i was on a gluten free diet. I had to inform the hospital dietician that these items were not gluten free...and the next mornng the gave... -

indyceliac replied to angel-jd1's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I LOVE my fresh veggies too! Just some other quick suggestions..try using them stuffed..stuffed zucchini boats (my kids will eat them this way), stuffed tomatoes, stuffed peppers, etc. You can fill them with anything rice, ground meat or turkey.. its great for a light summer meal with a salad. -

ARCHIVED White Bumps On Tounge.....tastebuds That Hurt!
indyceliac replied to angel-jd1's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I get these all the time. For me, too many sweets or spicy foods can cause it. I heard dipping a q-tip in witch hazel and dotting it on the swollen taste bud can help. Also, I've heard b-12 deficiency can make u more susceptible..not sure if its true or not. BTW, I also get weird bumps at the back of my tongue, on the sides..especially if im coming... -

ARCHIVED Is Anyone Else Having Problems With Tasting Cans Or Dyes ?
indyceliac replied to marciab's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
OH, im definitely a super-taster. Canned foods are tinny, could never eat foods from the deli case (potato salad, etc) because of the horrible preservative taste, anything with too much dyes or additives tasted 'werid' to me... and forget about artificial sweetners..bleechhh..diet anything makes me gag. Also, i think im a super-smeller. Anyone else have... -
ARCHIVED New Book - Ultra Metabolism
indyceliac replied to floridanative's topic in Publications & Publicity
They are all careful not to admit anything. Notice how Star never admitted having a bypass? ha. But i agree, I hate when they interrupt informative guests..just to make a joke or put in their two cents. Although its true, the wheat-free thing is a 'fad' for some people , its too bad they didnt take that opportunity to inform more people about the legitimacy... -
ARCHIVED Book Review: Gluten Free Baking Classics
indyceliac replied to angel-jd1's topic in Publications & Publicity
In my opinion, that is the best gluten-free baking book out there. The carrot cake and the coconut cake (although i made a different frosting).... were superb..and NO ONE could tell they were gluten-free. Ive tried some other gluten-free books, and was rather let down. And I LOVE to bake for my family and friends..was glad to not have to give that up... -
Infant Formula
indyceliac replied to hannahsue01's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
When my youngest was a baby he had severe reflux and the only formula he could tolerate was Neocate. Its gluten-free, soy-free, dairy-free. Luckily insurance paid for it. -

The clear nail polish didnt work for me either. I think its all related... the celiac, multiple sensitivities, tendancy to develop other autoimmune diseases..

ARCHIVED I Can't Sleep!
indyceliac replied to lightningfoot speakin words's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
what time of day do you take your meds? Sometimes if u take one at night..if its alright with the dr, try taking it in the morning. Maybe one is causing the sleeplessness. I know most antideppresants caused me to become jittery and feeling wired. Even when the side effects say drowsiness i get the opposite. Ask the pharmacist about ALL the meds and possible... -
ARCHIVED Anyone Know What This Could Be?
indyceliac replied to Phila's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hi, Im sure you must feel anxious but try not to worry too much...its probably nothing serious. A little stone could be blocking the duct and causing the excess bile salts, also. I know whenever I have something wrong I'll look it up on the internet and the worst case scenarios always come up first. I dont know about the moles, but when i was pregnant... -

I got really nauseous after eating a kinnikinick chocolate donut. It was on an empty stomach and I figured it was just from way too much sugar.. (I have blood sugar issues too). No more donuts for me.

My son had one before and the doctor actually suggested having him suck on SOUR candies..because it gets the salivary glands to work harder..helps clear out the infection, i guess. I dunno, useless info thought i would share! : ) (oops, i see someone already posted about the lemon drops).
