  1. Wow... I could have (and HAVE) written the same thing!! Though, I can look back in my life and see that I had "problems" when I was a child, but they disappeared during my teen years and didn't start back up again until, quite literally, 24 hours after my 3rd child was born. I could not eat anything!! My son was close to a year old when my middle...
  2. Mine is always the same... first it's the extreme fatigue. Then it's the reflux... followed by the stomach ache from he...l...l... The fatigue is almost immediate, and it's debilitating.
  3. I have the email address of the contact who helped us at Disney. My daughter also has multiple food allergies.... and we were helped, greatly, by one person in particular. I'll PM you. =)
  4. I'm in the Kansas City Metro....
  5. I respectfully disagree with you here. I absolutely LOVE the mocha almond fudge!!! The "real deal" from Baskin Robbins was my all-time favorite before going (mostly) dairy free. This tastes incredibly close to the real thing. I haven't tried any of the other ones yet. I'm always too tempted to eat "the whole thing" when I have something yummy like that...
  6. I went to the Stanford clinic 2 years ago.... and wanted to return, with my child, last year. Only... I was never able to find *ANY* information about it. The actual conference website still lists the information for the 2006 speakers.
  7. I just went through a meeting with our school nurse and daughter's teacher. My daughter has a "disability" according to the states definition, because she's anaphylactic to peanuts. She's also allergic to milk, and several other things. The school will accommodate her so far as to "allow" her to purchase juice instead of milk. It certainly isn't free. It...
  8. At the BK's in our area, the fries are cooked in a dedicated fryer. However, the onion rings and fries are all dumped in the same draining bin. Therefore... the fries are cross contaminated, and we do NOT allow our Celiac kiddo to eat *anything* at BK anymore.
  9. Thanks Marie! I can take my own "treats" on board??? I wasn't sure whether or not they'd permit that. I'd be thrilled if I could have some Enjoy Life Snickerdoodles out at sea.
  10. Oh yea... can't forget those!!! Yummmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!
  11. Yep, when we booked it was an option. I made sure to indicate that I would need gluten-free meals. The timing worked well for us, so I was pleased that they do have gluten-free options. I think there was one other that I researched that indicated they could accommodate gluten-free requests but I don't recall which one it was. I'm really very excited. Albeit...
  12. I agree with Amy. I think gluten intolerance is just a stepping stone. I had positive blood tests, but my endoscopy was completely negative. Yet, my dietary response has been indisputable. I have had the gene testing done because my 7 year old does have Celiac. Those tests showed that I do have the genes, so even though I know I don't have "full blown" Celiac...
  13. My husband and I are going on an Alaskan cruise next June. I've already identified myself as someone needing dietary accommodation while on board. I'm wondering if anyone has any firsthand gluten-free experience with RC?? I admit, I'm a little nervous, even though it's a year away. All our "vacations" thus far have been trips where we've visited and stayed...
  14. My children all have asthma, so it's recommended. However, 2 are allergic to eggs... so it's discouraged. However, 2 years ago our pediatrician was pretty positive that our little guy's "slight" allergy to eggs would not be enough to bypass the flu shot. He had the shot... and within minute, he was breaking out in hives.... head to toe. He had to be...
  15. $50.00 for shipping on a $30.00 order?????? Ouch.
  16. Ener-G Wylde Pretzels dipped in Crunchy Honey-Sunbutter. Marble Halvah (Sesame Candy) Handfuls of Envirokids Gorilla Munch Good Karma Rice Divine - Carrot Cake. MmMMmmMmmmmMmmMMMmMMm
  17. I am a member of said Kansas City group....my daughter is also part of the Cel-Kids spinoff group. We really enjoy it, and have had a lot of fun with it. We've also learned a TON.
  18. We have gluten free aroma dough (you can find it through google) for all of my kids. I supply it to my daughter's classroom as well. The other kids play with regular playdough, however... my daughter uses a special mat at her desk, and is able to chose a couple friends to play with her "special" dough with her at her desk. This worked for us last year...
  19. Thanks, so much, for your help!! I'll try it!!! =)
  20. Thanks! The gluten-free flour mix is Beth's All-Purpose Mix - Rice flour, potato starch, tapioca starch, guar gum, and salt. Does that information help? =)
  21. I have a homework assignment for next weeks cooking class. I have to create both a compound butter and a beurre manie, and bring them both to use in our "small sauces" class. For obvious reasons, I want to make my beurre manie gluten free, but I am unsure as to which substitute would be the best to use. I have a sweet rice flour, potato starch, and a gluten...
  22. Whole Foods, in the Asian section. =)
  23. Another issue with publications is dating. By the time a publication is available... ingredients are changed within manufacturing practices and the publication is obsolete. Regardless of what is listed in any publication, one should always read the ingredient label as they are holding the product. And, I do agree... msg, while a huge problem for...
  24. My Celiac daughter and I went to Disneyworld in February of this year. We had NO problems at all finding "safe food." In fact, I was seriously prepared for the worst.... and it totally ended up being so easy to dine in "the world." We were thrilled and will absolutely go back. They made my daughter and I feel totally welcome, allergies and all. Of course...
