  1. Please do keep posting. What you are doing is fascinating!
  2. They will certainly try again - better tape down your inventory.
  3. Little issue with the cells stored in liquid nitrogen. Vials started exploding while my tech was putting new vials away. I recognized the sound and ran into the hall to find my tech hiding behind the door gesturing aimlessly with her mouth and eyes wide open. Vials still shooting out of the box. I ran over and put the lid on the box both laughing and...
  4. a protocol for you: Open Original Shared Link
  5. Not to change the topic, but did I tell you guys the exploding vial story last week? I shoulda kept track of my post count - I'm sure it was related.
  6. Keeping in mind that we are not doctors... I think it's possible that you are cured of celiac disease. It is also possible that if your are cured, that you could re-acquire it later. There is no way to tell if you will or won't. I think it's also possible that the immune suppression drugs you are taking will suppress any immune response instigated...
  7. this. you don't know which way you will go.
  8. A friend of mine was lied to by her daughter. The next day they went out on errands and my friend kept saying how they'd stop for ice cream at the end. After all the errands were done, they went home. Her daughter said "what about ice cream?" to which my friend replied "I lied. How does it feel to be lied to?" and thence followed the discussion about...
  9. gluten gives me a headache, soy and dairy, digestive issues, corn, joint pain. Don't assume that intolerance to some other food will manifest as digestive....
  10. But ya never know. I walked into a cafe and told the order taker that I couldn't eat gluten and he responded with "Is that all you can't eat?"
  11. And presumably people who have tested positive are told of their increased risk, not, as frequently happens on this board, told what course their cancer will take based on their genes. If you test positive for any of the HLA haplotypes associated with celiac disease, you have an increased risk. There are no data that I know of that say you will have celiac...
  12. Without going into a big huge discussion, this is the bottom line. I have not seen evidence showing that the presence of any single gene (hetero- or homozygous) is required to develop celiac disease, nor have I seen evidence showing that only people with a single gene develop celiac disease. This is, at best, a polygenic disease. I won't argue that...
  13. I just want to emphasize what RWG said. These genes are associated with Celiac Disease. They are neither necessary, nor sufficient to cause the disease. THERE HAVE BEEN NO GENES IDENTIFIED THAT ARE SHOWN TO CAUSE CELIAC DISEASE. Don't spend a lot of time getting caught up in the details that only tell you probabilities.
  14. Just to emphasize what RWG said, there are no Celiac genes that have been identified. A DNA test is interesting, but not informative. If you think gluten is your issue, consider either trying the diet, or exploring other testing.
  15. ummm.... we're hoping to hit 70......
  16. Those tests are very inaccurate. You really need to test each specific food by first eliminating it for several weeks, then adding it back. Keep a journal and write down everything you feel while you are doing this. Note both physical and emotional/mental things (...."I seem to not get angry as much"....). If any of the foods on your 'reactive' list...
  17. It's not clear what genes contribute to celiac disease, nor what triggers the disease in people that have the predisposition. It's not at all unreasonable for neither of your parents to show any signs of the disease.
  18. There's some phony phunny stuph in there.
  19. am snack - two rice cakes and a handful of cherries B - scrambled eggs on rice cakes snack ..... well, okay, I've sorta just eaten continuously all day........ Refried beans and salsa on nut thins, more cherries, banana, I snacked on turkey meat as I was making soup, celery w/peanut butter. Usually I'm much more structured - something with meat...
  20. So by having non-smooth-skinned children I still get "it's all your fault" without getting the macaroni-glued-onto-paper pictures that declare undying love?
  21. Bah! Pouring rain here. Chickens are glaring at me from underneath their house. Why do all the animals think I made it rain?
  22. We can all be mizrabl together (I ain't planning on getting old, the rest a' yas can make your own decision).
  23. I think so. Are ya sayin' it's payback time?
