  1. I was talking to one of the docs here who's just finishing is MPH. He said he and his wife were putting their daughter to bed and chatting about what she wanted to be when she grew up. 'Doctor' was thrown out as a possibility to which the wife answered "your daddy has been in school for a very long time to be a doctor". Daughter replied "wow! He...
  2. followed by heartburn, stinky onion farts, tighter belts, smaller arteries, bad skin....
  3. I would skip them just because so many of the ingredients don't resemble food
  4. and you have a vague idea of where I live. Show up any time. If it's in the middle of the night, could you use the back door? It's where the TV is anyway and you can watch movies until I get up (at 4......)
  5. I read kaki's post as trying to decide where to draw her lines and take her stands. The example may be just pizza, but the bigger issue is really the one we all face every day. When is enough, enough? When are you being considerate of others and when are you being walked on? When is appropriate to put aside your desire to be included for the good of the...
  6. Provide them with all the information you've collected. State that you will do nothing this time in order to give them the opportunity to review everything. Get signatures of receipt. Make sure that they know that next time you will be filing an official complaint and contacting a lawyer (realizing that this may end up canceling lunch for everybody forever...
  7. When I'm studying for a test I tend to fill these pages with a lot of nonsense
  8. O why doth the little cat lay stretched out in bliss on the sun-heated patch on the floor - His tender wee head pillowed soft on my shoe his feet blocking way to the door? Does he know that my math book lies waiting outside with vectors and planes all a blur? Does he seek to remind me instead of the peace the comes when you hear the cat purr...
  9. How to make a cup of tea at my house. Clean the spiders out of the kettle. Find a sink that isn't full of dishes in order to fill your kettle. There are only two sinks and they are both in bathrooms, so this step is actually quite challenging. If necessary, do the dishes. Fill the kettle with water and plug in. Run outside to flip the circuit...
  10. My crockpot is possessed. I put some sweet potatoes in to cook and went shopping. I came home to find my crockpot had turned itself off, and the 'taters are.......perfect.....
  11. This is sweet! Maybe you can take her with you on your first venture to find gluten-free substitutes (k-toos for oreos, eg). She might have a blast deciding what fun things mommy needs to get.
  12. I think there is a difference in the wheats. While in Europe I accidentally ate wheat a few times and had no reaction whatsoever. I didn't go as far as chowing down on a slice of bread, but certainly ate enough that in the states I would have felt it immediately. Whether its the amount of gluten, or the physical properties of the molecule that come about...
  13. Open Original Shared Link
  14. B12 can take years to deplete. Vitamin is created in the skin through sunlight Not everyone feels sick immediately. For some people it's not until they can no longer walk that they finally "feel" something.
  15. Did she have a heavy period between measurements? If her iron stores are low, and she lost blood, she might have a difficult time replacing it. Also, was it iron deficiency anemia? There are different kinds.
  16. Make it a theme. Do them one at a time, keeping them in order, as you slug sip wodka. Note the changes over time... Kinda like a drunk icing test.
  17. There is some speculation that high IgG can be caused by other things. Some docs count one positive as Celiac positive, others won't. Most people here will tell you that you should take your son off gluten (after all the testing is done) based on that one result and see if it makes a difference in how he feels.
  18. They should also have done a total IgA to check for IgA deficiencies. You can't tell if the IgAs are negative, or there just isn't enough to test.
  19. Maybe a lot of what you said relates to her health and she needed to discredit you in her own mind so that she could keep denying that she should address her own issues.

    ARCHIVED Should I Even Bother?

There's a lot of 'personal opinion' here. I would say don't bother. The treatment doesn't require a prescription, and any associated illness that might arise will be dealt with based on their symptoms, not on having "Celiac" in your chart.
  21. I buy food from markets when I travel (even before gluten-free). It's a lot cheaper and you know what you're eating. True, you aren't sitting in some restaurant with a glass of wine, but you can use the money you save to take a taxi somewhere fun to eat your picnic of sliced meat, fresh fruits and veggies, and even a bottle of wine if you are so inclined...
