  1. WooHOO!! Ken is reforming an entire state all by himself!!
  2. I'll be singing that all day. Went to see Pero last night with appropriate beverages aforehand. Very fun, but getting home at midnight just sucks.
  3. I was thinking that a favorite place, with staff that know you, you have a better chance of teaching them how to make something you can eat. Maybe even get them to stock some frozen gluten-free dough for you. Small neighborhood places tend to think of their customers as friends.
  4. No, but you weathered this event, and you will do the same the next time it happens. No one really understands until they've started living this way, although some people can have a better understanding if someone close to them has gluten intolerance. Don't put the blame on your friends, we were all brought up believing food couldn't possibly hurt you,...
  5. CSU, if you are going to start claiming things as facts, you will need to start providing references.
  6. To all posters, please remember that this an open forum and you should not take anyone's suggestion, or interpretation of your symptom's as medical advice. You have no idea what the person's background, or intention is.
  7. Allergy testing is unreliable. Try a little bit of hard cheese, see what happens.
  8. Maybe your favorite Italian place will be willing to make your pizza without a crust. So you eat yours with a spoon......it's still pizza!
  9. It will get easier. Just start as best you can with reading labels, and realize that before too long it will no longer be so awkward and time consuming. It really will be fine.
  10. Keep in mind that you appear to not be eating much gluten anyway. This could skew the tests towards negative.
  11. I could see it. The effects of the glutening might be over in a few weeks, but then a person could swing between diarrhea and constipation as their intestine tries to recover. Diarrhea could cause electrolyte imbalances which could lead someone to crave salt, or have neuro issues or whatever. Constipation might lead a person to drastically change their...
  12. Does this still work if you're grain free??
  13. Maybe we're all allergic to Round-Up?
  14. Nora, this seems ridiculous, not your interpretation, but that labs would use such different nomenclature. How could it be that one lab specifically says negative for DQ2, and one lab specifically says positive for DQ2 (one allele) and one lab says no, you have two of the same allele?

    ARCHIVED New Format

hmm, mine are correct. Maybe there's a daylight savings time box that's improperly checked in your time zone.
  16. If your daughter is DQ2 homozygous, then you have DQ2 (or she's not your daughter, but you can take that up with your wife ). A saliva sample could be contaminated if you kissed your wife before you took the sample, and some of her cells got in to your sample, but...then your daughter is DQ2...... You may be one of those people that is difficult...
  17. yes, probably. Are you still eating gluten? Can you get it redone?
  18. I don't know specifically how they do the tests, but in general, a genotype test produces a dot for each allele. If you have two of the same alleles, the dots are in the same place and it looks like one dot. If Enterolab didn't QC their data very well, you might have gotten a read on only one of your alleles (the other one didn't work at all) and since...
  19. Could your nutritionist provide documentation? Letters from your family?
  20. Wow Nik. Keep good spirits about the whole thing, it'll all be over soon enough.
  21. Discovered a new drink.........plum vodka and 7-up gads
  22. I gained about 40 pounds on gluten. When I went gluten-free it all went away.
