  1. Bainbridge. I do bus, ferry, walk.
  2. Can't remember where I read this, but, Canada had a contest to create a new phrase similar to the American phrase "As American as Apple Pie". The winner (at least in the author's eyes) was "As Canadian as possible under the circumstances". My other fave was the brit proposed slogan for England - "No slogan please, we're British".
  3. I know about that lengthy commute. I get up at 5, and my commute is 1.5 hours each way. I suppose I could cut it by about 40 minutes by driving, but the expense would kill me.
  4. OK, bracing myself to get slapped around, but, stop driving take public transportation, carpool, combine errands, work from home if possible... I put gas in my truck once a month, if I've done a lot of driving that month.
  5. Tom darling, come to my dungeon. I'll "convince" you to give up cigarettes Funny how putting "anything" in quotes make it seem more "mysterious".
  6. She's already got the good life, a wonderful boyfriend, good friends, comfy home, and without doubt the best dog in the world. Are you suggesting perhaps a poodle to set the standard?
  7. I've found a dominatrix and a porn star (Googling first name only)
  8. I'd tell the story of why you should never drink and color your hair on the same night, but gotta run for the ferry. It's almost 7 and I'm just now leaving work tired and grouchy, but we have a midnight deadline. Next 1/3 is the boss's
  9. I'm right handed and left eyed, and consequently dyslexic. Can only go places I've already been
  10. Straight-haired righty. Don't worry, we'll outlive them
  11. If she has suspicious symptoms, absolutely. Otherwise, probably not. She may never develop Celiac, and stressing about something that may never happen isn't good for you either.
  12. hmm, it's not raining at the moment here in Seattle....
  13. Finally the truth comes out: !!! BREAD IS DANGEROUS !!! Research on bread indicates that: 1. More than 98 percent of convicted felons are bread users. 2. Fully HALF of all children who grow up in bread-consuming households score below average on standardized tests. 3. In the 18th century, when virtually all bread was baked in the home, the average...
  14. I like to chat about bizarre things. One time the doc told me all about how to clean a dog's anal glands (swear to god). That's the only part of the day I remember. Maybe you could bring up the glue question. Or ask about the roll of TLRs in inflammation.
  15. Susie, at least you escaped the nuggets...
  16. Even more pain-free. Far more motivating than something silly, like avoiding a heart attack or fitting into a size 2 (OK, not even my skeleton would fit into a size two, but you get the picture).
  17. My guess is, if you were eating the same food as Josie, you would happily self-limit.
  18. She seems to be all legs. Does that fit with the rest of your family? Does she prefer wine-sicles to the more conventional way of consuming it?
  19. uh, that must be physics...I'm a biochemist slinking away And the new pup is beautiful. hopefully she'll inspire Gus to new standards
  20. Upon further reflection, I'd like to add that I'm much more aware of flavors in food and don't add very much (or any) salt. And I've found that when I drink tea, just a little fruit flavoring adds enough interest that I don't miss sugar. I also find it curious that I times I know I could plow through an entire bag of chips, but couldn't possibly put one...
