  1. Dude! You've already tried all the food! Try sampling something new, like kiss all the women you walk by. Probably less risk of CC than the free snacks, you'll start a new tradition, and who knows, you may even get a bit of exercise as you run (for your life).
  2. Thanks. I'll hang to the recipe. Still new to the starch/grain free thing so I'm not quite up for a recipe. Still eating mostly plain veggies.
  3. Is the bread necessary to keep it held together? Can eat be made starch free?
  4. Do we need a heavy jacket for the canal cruise? Umbrella? Gold dipped roses for the hostess?
  5. WAIT EMILY!!! I'm going to be on that plane too!! Bring plenty of champagne!!

    ARCHIVED Question For A Doctor

Your body is more accurate than any lab test. If something (anything) makes you sick when you eat it, it's a good indication that you probably shouldn't be eating it. You could get a biopsy, if you think it will help you understand what your body is doing, but even if it's negative, you're still stuck with the fact that gluten makes you feel bad when...
  7. I am so glad you're going to stick with it. Some people find the gluten-free diet so difficult they're willing to accept any reason in order to stop. The reactions may get better with time. After two years gluten-free, I only get mild fatigue, and only if seriously CC'd.
  8. ***sigh*** no, I just wake up at quarter to 5 on Saturday.
  9. hmm, good for all of our weight issues, but maybe not so hot for Patti's liver enzymes. Should be great for lowering blood sugar though, and it's very probably gluten-free. If not, we can just learn to make our own, like we have to do with everything else. disaccommodated Brief insight into my nerdly friends. One of my commute buddies is a computer...
  10. My local store has started listing all ingredients on the salad bar. At my (and possibly others) suggestion they also started breaking down the ingredients: (soy sauce (soy, wheat, salt)). Just talk to the salad bar manager. They know what's in there, and the offerings are usually the same, so they don't have to make up a lot of labels every week.
  11. I think we've probably dissuaded 1) anyone with scatological aversions, 2) anyone that thinks authority should be respected, and 3) anyone named Edna.
  12. I would say use less than you think you should. Layer, rather than spackle.
  13. Ahhhh, that's the problem. I always thought the Christmas Edna was to stuff as much fudge into your mouth as you could hold. i like mine better
  14. Rephrase your question and leave out the 'food' part of it. If you slap your arm, you'll get a brief sting, then it'll go away. If you keep slapping, eventually your arm will become desensitized, but you may actually be doing more damage. Assume you've slapped long enough to cause a bit of nerve damage. It won't feel too bad, because all of your nerves...
  15. If your basement always has a foot of water in it, it will take a lot more than a small leak for you to notice a change in the water level. Once you've gotten it dried out, you're going to see even the smallest bit of water coming in.
  16. Sympathies to all y'all with kids, it sounds like such a tough gig. It is nice to know, though, that there are people like you (Janet, Patti, Nikki, Emily, Carla, Sarah, Amanda, did I leave anyone out?) that are willing to fight the morons and the stupid rules to keep your kids safe and happy and thereby make the future better for all of us. I'm much...
  17. Only read bits and pieces of this thread, but wanted to say that one group has recently found that cultures that historically have consumed high amounts of starches have adapted to have several copies of the amylase gene in their salivary glands. Their spit has more of the enzyme to chew up starches. This suggests that we are still adapting, and a high...
  18. It's all about the phrasing: "One of my major goals for the coming year is to improve communications with those I most closely associate with while on the job."
  19. cool art site Open Original Shared Link Are the internet trolls like this one?
  20. I hate when that happens!
  21. I have decided to limit my fruit to 3 or 4 pieces a week. And I choose the lower glycemic (not super sweet ones). I'll probably go even lower when my current supply runs out, but I've never been a huge fruit fan, so it's not that hard.
