  1. A while back I had posted about being frustrated because I wasn't losing weight, but was a tad nervous because I'm breastfeeding my three month old. Well, I'm happy to say the weight loss has begun ! I haven't restricted calorie intake or anything - the only things I'm restricting are soy, dairy, eggs, and glutens (all are known allergens in my older...
  2. LOL !!!
  3. I know a couple of you have mentioned before about family not being supportive in one way or another. I have two sisters in law, both in their twenties. They're both VERY aware of the GI issues our son Ryan has had for the majority of his three years on this earth. So when I finally sorted out (on my own, thanks to EnteroLab and no thanks to our GI) what...
  4. I also just got some banana chips from Wild Oats that Ryan seems to like well. Fruit cups (you can get those at any grocery store), rice or corn cakes (double-check for glutens), fruit (like the pp said), baby carrots, celery.
  5. Yes, that's exactly what I was hoping for. It's one thing for me to tell them, and another altogether for them to have something in hand that "looks" official.
  6. I was struggling with what to tell the daycare about Ryan's diet. I found this wonderful, short information packet that is geared specifically to schools, and thought I'd share this in case anyone else needs it: Open Original Shared Link
  7. Oh no, I didn't. I knew that anything numbing wasn't a good idea for breastfed babies (which my son is). They didn't have the Hyland's gel (I thought I had seen that posted here and looked for it). I got the Boiron liquid teething stuff and that seems to work like a charm.
  8. Thanks. I told Ryan this morning not to let anybody take his food, but he's 3, I don't know if he'll be able to fend the kids off, lol. I'm glad they think his food looks so much better, but - PAWS OFF ! LOL One of the staff keeps telling Ryan jokingly that she's going to steal his food because it looks so good. He just kind of looks at her like "yeah...
  9. ~sigh~ I'm feeling pretty overwhelmed right now. How the heck do I hammer into the daycare people's heads how to deal with this ? I haven't talked in depth about cross contamination with them yet. I was planning on going out this weekend and getting him some gluten-free art supplies to be kept at the daycare, and then talking with them when I...
  10. Thanks ! I'm going to stop by Wild Oats after work.
  11. I asked this very question just last week, and was given this address: www.tacanow.com/school_supplies.htm I found it EXTREMELY helpful - hopefully you will too !
  12. My three month old is teething... I need a gluten-free/DF product - I understand Hyland's tablets aren't gluten-free and have milk in them? Tylenol does ok, but seems to wear off after about 2 hours. TIA !
  13. Cool - thank you.
  14. What my 3 year old will be eating (and he also ate this when he was your dc's age) is mashed potatoes made with Pacific rice milk. I know you said you weren't sure about potatoes, but they are, along with the Pacific rice milk, gluten/casein free. He'll also eat turkey (no gravy), mashed sweet potatoes (no butter). Cranberry sauce is a bit tart for him so...
  15. My son has two DQ1's (both subtype 5 - I don't know if that matters). I refused to have him biopsied, but he is positively responding to the diet.
  16. Hellman's doesn't have casein in it ?
  17. Thank you SO MUCH for that !! What a huge help ! My son is also allergic to casein, so this is perfect - I didn't know he couldn't use art products that have casein, either.
  18. Really ? In what way ? I'm new to all of this, so I'm curious about what makes you think this.
  19. I haven't - maybe I'll give that a shot. Is it liquid, or powdered like the Stevia ? I'm really starting to avoid artificial sweeteners too. The thought of them is starting to make me nauseous, lol, though I have no noticeable effects when I used them in the past.
  20. I really like Stevia, but the added fiber in it seems to give me gas and cramps. It doesn't exactly smell like roses, either ! What other natural sugar substitutes are out there that won't trigger a glycemic reaction? Splenda's not an option - that stuff freaks me out. I'd really like a natural product, if possible.
  21. So I know about the gluten-free playdoh from discount school supply. What other art project products are gluten-free ? Like paints, finger paints, glues ? I'm going to make a project bin for my son to take to daycare with him, along with instructions on how to avoid cc.
  22. No, not formal ones anyway. Anytime I need to meet with them I can just call and arrange it (which I've done in the past). What I'm getting ready to do is make up an activity box to be kept in Ryan's classroom - in it will be gluten-free play-doh, paint, pasta. On the lid I was going to type up some instructions on how he's to be handled and tape it on there...
  23. I have a sneaking suspicion that they're not, but needed to ask anyways. Does anybody know ?
  24. That's great Nancy ! It feels really good to help people, doesn't it ?
