ARCHIVED So Sick Of This
GlutenWrangler replied to ReneCox's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
There's a lot of fat in nuts, which can be problematic if you are having trouble digesting fats, as many recovering celiacs do. Another possibility is that you have an intolerance to peanuts, or other nuts. In that case, the problem won't go away even after you heal. You could try different types of nuts individually, and see if it is a certain kind, or if... -
ARCHIVED So Sick Of This
GlutenWrangler replied to ReneCox's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Rene, I'm going through the same exact thing you are right now, so I completely understand. I'm only 22, and have no life whatsoever. I've been at this for 7 months now, and the results so far are less than desirable. I just try to remember that it is a very slow healing process. Some people just START to feel better after a year. You'll see in a lot of... -
ARCHIVED Don't Know What's Wrong
GlutenWrangler replied to GlutenWrangler's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Lisa, Your post was definitely helpful. It helps to know that what I'm dealing with isn't toally abnormal. As for the kidney question. I have all the experience in the world with kidney problems. I have an extremely rare disease called Loin Pain Hematuria Syndrome. It causes chronic pain and bleeding in my right kidney. The disease is so rare that only... -

At this point, I'm convinced I have some type of infection. I have a gnawing pain on my side that radiates into my back. It is more painful between meals. I also have a loss of appetite. Those are symptoms of an ulcer. Maybe I have an H. Pylori infection. I used to have erosion in my duodenum, and this feels just like that. A little worse though. It takes... -
ARCHIVED Don't Know What's Wrong

Aside from the bacon, I eat a generally fresh food diet. I usually eat bacon, eggs, potatoes, and filet mignon. That was my staple diet for a very long time. I may be deficient in fruits and veggies, but that's not too difficult to fix. Although bacon is high is sodium, I don't think that it's the culprit in my dehydration problem. I will definitely look... -
ARCHIVED Don't Know What's Wrong
GlutenWrangler replied to GlutenWrangler's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I know all about water toxicity and the dangers of drinking too much water. But unless I'm sweating profusely all day and drinking a ton of water at once with no electrolytes, there's no possible way I could die. I'm drinking this much fluid over a 12 hour time frame. My celiac disease came on in full force after a stomach virus. From that day on, I had problems... -

I know that 3 gallons is a lot of water. The last thing I want to be doing is drinking that much water. But if I don't, I get dehydrated. I've been doing it for a year. Since going gluten-free, I don't get dehydrated as much. I also drink gatorade to keep my electrolytes in order. But believe me, I wouldn't be drinking that much if I didn't have to. What... -
ARCHIVED Don't Know What's Wrong
GlutenWrangler replied to GlutenWrangler's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I use Cascade Complete. I can't find any information online about if it is gluten-free or not. I assumed it was because I never had a problem. I get my meat from a local butcher. They are really good there and usually don't have a problem. But I guess someone had something on their hands with gluten in it. Whatever it was, it caused me to get glutened.... -

GlutenWrangler replied to GlutenWrangler's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I should get a reply tomorrow from the drug company. But even if it did have gluten in it, it has never caused overt symptoms before. I'm sure it would have had a major effect on my healing process though. I just assumed that it was gluten-free because it never seemed to bother me. -
Hey Everyone, I'm having a really hard time right now, and I was hoping that someone could provide a little insight. I am incredibly sensitive to gluten, and I had been getting glutened from cross-contaminated steak for almost 2 weeks. I then switched to ground beef, which was also cross contaminated. That was another week. I continued to cook bacon in the...

ARCHIVED My Symptoms
GlutenWrangler replied to alenacat's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Whether you have celiac disease or gluten sensitivity, the protocol is the same; the gluten-free diet. Celiac disease is just gluten sensitivity which manifests as intestinal damage, visible on a biopsy. With your symptoms, it would definitely be a good idea to get tested. I agree that Enterolab is a great way to go, since it is such a sensitive method. I... -
ARCHIVED Eyes
GlutenWrangler replied to holdthegluten's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
A lot of celiacs have sinus problems, like chronic sinusitis. This might account for the pressure and dizziness. I think you should see your primary care doctor, and if you have no luck, see a specialist. Good luck, -Brian -
ARCHIVED Peripheral Neuropathy
GlutenWrangler replied to rickops's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I think that you are definitely doing the right thing by checking up on celiac disease. Mine showed up as the disease progressed. My left hand used to twitch, and my pinky and ring finger would go numb. I would also have muscle twitches in my right leg. As a child, I used to have severe pain in my legs, for which doctors could find no cause. I suspect it... -
ARCHIVED Whats Wrong With Me? Pls Help!
GlutenWrangler replied to imagine22's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
If you are 100% positive that you are not ingesting any hidden gluten, I think that it would be a good idea to see a doctor. Blood in your stool can mean various things, from ulcers to ulcerative colitis and Crohns Disease. Less serious causes include a rectal fissure and hemorrhoids. Even if you find that you had been ingesting hidden gluten, you should... -
Sinenox, I've also been glutened for over two weeks straight, so I know what you're going through. I finally figured out that I was using a pan with gluten on it. I don't think that using a dishwasher is better. I always have to put in gluten dishes with my dishes, so what I do every night is wash the same load of dishes 3 times. That's 6 hours of washing...

ARCHIVED Pedialyte

That's good to hear. The reason why I ask is because I'm dehydrated, and after I drank one I had some stomach pain. -

ARCHIVED Another Idiot Doctor
GlutenWrangler replied to GlutenWrangler's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
First of all, whether or not I decide to do the test, nobody is going to die because my insurance company needs to make up the cost. That's an absolutely ridiculous thing to say. Second, I'm not angry about his differing opinion. I'm angry about the way he handled the situation. It was incredibly unprofessional and a giant waste of time for me. Third,... -
ARCHIVED How Important Are Probiotics And Digestive Enzymes?
GlutenWrangler replied to Aerin328's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Christian, There are many people out there who cannot tolerate probiotics and digestive enzymes. I started taking probiotics and L-Glutamine about a month ago and saw some great improvements. Probiotics are rough at first because they have to cleanse the intestine of toxins and bad bacteria. This period can last for 10 days, and it can be very uncomfortable... -
ARCHIVED Another Idiot Doctor
GlutenWrangler replied to GlutenWrangler's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I don't think that my post should in any way serve as a deterrent to those good doctors who provide support on this site. I think it is great that they are here to help. The problem is that it we need more of those types of doctors out there when we go to an office visit. It is appalling that many of us can't praise our own doctors for the good work that... -
ARCHIVED Another Idiot Doctor
GlutenWrangler replied to GlutenWrangler's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I accept the fact the it's not a perfect test, and I'll have to use my own judgement when deciding what to eat after I get the test done. I have another doctor, and I'm not wasting the $75. It is not always easy to tell exactly what I'm reacting to. With the ELISA test, I can at least find out what my body is reacting to the most. Whether or not this translates... -
ARCHIVED Another Idiot Doctor
GlutenWrangler replied to GlutenWrangler's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I asked for the test because I think I have other food sensitivities. I didn't march into his office and demand it. I asked if he would order it for me, which he did. It was when it was time to have my blood drawn that he refused to do it. Obviously I'm not going to be allergic to all 132 foods, but I like the idea of having everything covered. I really don... -
ARCHIVED Another Idiot Doctor
GlutenWrangler replied to GlutenWrangler's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I don't mean to sound like I'm generalizing. There are in fact, many great doctors out there. I have a great doctor that has helped me tremendously with a separate condition. The point is that many doctors have a horrible way of practicing medicine. The first thought is always towards medication, they do not listen to what patients are telling them, they...
