ARCHIVED Confessions Of A Cook
imsohungry replied to imsohungry's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Interesting, ladies and gents: Now that I have your background information, let's start the show... 1. lcbannon: Is it true that you once made a sugar pie with a cherry on top? 2. Cara: Have you ever tested the speed, velocity, and damage caused by a tomato explosion? The people want to know: Are you working undercover for the government? ... -
ARCHIVED Bladder Cocktails For Ic
imsohungry replied to imsohungry's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Thanks for your support Nancy. Although, I'm sorry to hear that you felt that same way. The med. that turned your pee orange was probably Pyrideum...my pee stays orange (I take Pyrideum daily). Let's just say my toilet never looks clean...it always has that faint Pyrideum "glow." Take care of yourself. -Julie -
Hey you guys I just gotta get this out of my system! ARHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH O.k...I feel better. Honestly, I've been in a flare for over a month now; most recently it's probably due to the bladder cocktails I'm getting once a week via catheter. I cannot figure out any particular food that irritates my bladder. Most of the time (thankfully...

imsohungry replied to sickchick's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Help Collette! My hubby purchased all the ingredients for the quiche, but our store has no gluten-free pie crust mix! My cookbooks are still missing. This whole situation stinks. (yes, I know I sound about two years old-I'm pouting) Do you know of a crust that I can make from scratch that is good for this quiche? I'm hungry deary.... -
ARCHIVED Confessions Of A Cook
imsohungry replied to imsohungry's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
O.k. since I am the host of the show...let me recap: 1. Lisa- Have you ever fed your entire neighborhood SALT as the main entree? 2. Ken- Have you ever thrown out an entire dinner because it was inedible? The people want to know: Are you growing pennicillin in the back of your refridgerator? 3. Missy's Mom- Do you have multiple spoiled... -
Hey fellow IC people, I was diagnosed awhile back using hydro-distention. Anyway, I'm taking Elmiron, atarax, pyrideum, and an "Oxy" patch for the IC, Rx by my urologist...not sure of the spelling on those meds. I had a flare-up recently, and my doctor ordered a six week bladder "cocktail." So, once a week, I go for my catheter appointment....

Welcome contestants All you need to play this game is a story... an embarrassing kitchen or meal confession that you reveal for the first time in front of hundreds of readers. Me first: I once made deviled eggs for the family Christmas party with eggs that I knew expired two months before. My family: My grandmother once oven-baked a frozen...

ARCHIVED Craving Veggie Chips
imsohungry replied to imsohungry's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Hi Violet Just tried Amazon...no luck. But your idea was great! I'll keep checking in with Amazon. Hak and Sickchick, Looks like I'll be frying some chips! (Also went to the Wil-Son website for the recipe) Confession: Honest to God Collette, ten years of college and I thought a mandoline was a musical instrument! -
ARCHIVED Craving Veggie Chips
imsohungry replied to imsohungry's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Hak, Thanks for the reply...are the chips very crispy and not rippled (like a Ruffles chip is)? I'm thinking Terra is the brand. Any idea how I would go about making them? I don't usually like potato chips, but like you said, these are made from a variety of veggies so it's not a "traditional" chip. We're kind of tight financially right... -
ARCHIVED Hey What Do You Do To De-stress ?
imsohungry replied to thumper's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Your creativity is interesting and fun. Coffee tree inside a coffee pot...rubber tree inside a rubber tire...hee hee! That's awesome! Personally, I like to write poetry and short stories, read non-fiction, watch a comedy on TV, decorate my house, cook (still can't find my dang cookbooks) , and work on small craft projects. Of course, sometimes... -
Hey everyone I'm having a serious craving for veggie crisp chips (not the rippled kind, but the kind that look like Lay's chips but are more crisp). I've bought them before at Whole Foods, but they are close to four dollars a bag. I want to make something similar at home...any suggestions? Some of the chips are sweet potato, some are spinich...

ARCHIVED Salmon With Dill Dumplings
imsohungry replied to sickchick's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I totally agree with you hack1031! Collette darling, thanks for the onion update. I'll have to check that out...I would have never guessed correctly. There is so much to learn! Hey, I forget, do you eat meat? I eat it occasionally, but I'm mainly a fruit and veggie gal. My husband jokes on me and says, "You might as well just eat grass. It... -
ARCHIVED Salmon With Dill Dumplings
imsohungry replied to sickchick's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Collette, O.k., you lost me...what are pearl onions? I've never tried to make dumplings before...actually, I'm a little intimidated by this recipe. It sounds delicious, but I don't think my cooking skills are quite at the "dumpling" level yet. Thanks for posting though, I'm sure others will enjoy- hey, don't forget to tell me what a pearl... -
ARCHIVED How Do I Cook Something For 15-20 Guests?
imsohungry replied to alamaz's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Hi Sara, I think she means that she couldn't eat the icecream...lots of us are intolerant to dairy products. It was worded kind of funny though (of course, I could be totally wrong) Amy, Your food choices sound great! Let us know how it goes! Happy hosting to you, Julie -
ARCHIVED Tollhouse Cookies
imsohungry replied to mamasaidso's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
This really doesn't answer your question directly, but it's relevant, I have found that my cookies turn out best when I make a "pizza cookie." The soft homebaked cookie taste and texture is very close to regular tollhouse. I usually use my 12" pizza pan. You can cut them into squares or circles (with a drinking cup or cookie cutter) or it can be used... -
ARCHIVED Smoked Salmon Quiche
imsohungry replied to sickchick's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Hey sweetie, Just wanted to let ya know I'm trying this recipe this weekend. I have a hard time cooking anything with more than four ingredients throughout the week because of my son...he's 21 months and into everything! I'm anxious to try this quiche. I'll post next week how it turned out! -Julie -
ARCHIVED Pet Peeves Anyone?
imsohungry replied to imsohungry's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff

ARCHIVED How Do I Cook Something For 15-20 Guests?
imsohungry replied to alamaz's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Did you already tell everyone you are serving a meal? If not, you may want to consider a variety of appetizers. Of course, for people with Celiac or for guests with food allergies, you could set up a separate small table (or make all of the appetizers gluten-free). At my baby shower, we had simple trays of finger foods that could be purchased or... -
ARCHIVED My New House Is The Size Of A Shoebox
imsohungry replied to imsohungry's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Hey Tiffany, I was on the phone with a friend from NY about the same time you posted, she suggested the duel purpose furniture too. I was thinking we could have maybe one oversized chair (smaller than a loveseat) with an ottoman that has hiddent storage. As luck would have it, we recently purchased a narrow coffee table with storage baskets underneath... -
ARCHIVED My New House Is The Size Of A Shoebox
imsohungry replied to imsohungry's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Hey Julie We are buying this home. DH and I were talking today about knocking down the wall between the living room and kitchen (assuming it's not load-bearing). But we quickly realized the refridgerator and oven prevent us from doing this. I LOVE a lot of the programs on HGTV. I have really learned so much from them. Just a little background... -
ARCHIVED Pet Peeves Anyone?
imsohungry replied to imsohungry's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I get a lot of R-rated e-mails too. Just like you said, all of them are for men...I was wondering if I ever visited a site with a spyware cookie that mistook me for a man. I've also had an increase in the number of e-mails that are just random symbols in the title. Like: ^*&^#! Anyone else? What is that about? Julie -
ARCHIVED My New House Is The Size Of A Shoebox
imsohungry posted a topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
O.K.... does anyone know how to decorate a VERY small home containing three people -one of whom is a one year old? We are so tight in this little house. I'm thankful to have it and everything; please don't misunderstand. But honestly, my living room can't accommodate a sofa. So, we just have a love seat and a TV basically. My husband's recliner... -
ARCHIVED Do You Need The Gelatin?
imsohungry replied to celiac-mommy's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
In a pinch, depending on the recipe, I've baked without it. Pizza crusts and similar baked goods are very forgiving if you don't use gelatin. With breads, muffins, cakes, etc., if it calls for gelatin, I use it. Happy baking! Julie
