  1. Stupid question: What is pecorino romano cheese? Sounds good Chili's restaurant has (or had) a dish made with artichoke...good stuff.
  2. I think the title says it all... I need a good recipe for spring rolls and I'm also looking for a recipe for cashew nut chicken. Anybody?????? I googled it, but I mainly came up with restaurant sites and recipes I could pay to receive. Not sure if I'll get a response to this or not, but it's worth a shot. Happy gluten-free baking. ...
  3. I made two good pizzas the other day. When I ate gluten pizza, sometimes I liked toppings that were less-traditional. Anyway, these two most recent pizzas were topped with: Pizza/tomato Sauce (canned) spinich sliced (canned) mushrooms chopped/minced garlic chopped/minced onions cheese *note: drain spinich very well...or your pizza...
  4. Hey everyone, I decided to try eating oats again and purchased some of the Bob's RM "gluten-free" oats. I do like some products by BRM, but in my opinion, these are the nastiest, gooiest, toughest oats that I've ever eaten. Has anyone else tried these? I have microwaved them as recommended, but no matter what variations I use...they still...
  5. What a blessing for everyone involved! She is beautiful! You and your family are strong, loving people. Happy New Year! -Julie
  6. I agree with what others have said... 1. I've always had to adjust my oven temp. and the length of time that I cook gluten-free breads. We've just moved, and I'm still "playing" with this new oven. 2. You may want to buy an oven thermometer. They are cheap. Just hang it off the oven rack. This will tell you what temp. your oven is "really...
  7. I had success this Christmas with my holiday cooking! I made Laura's "Farmer's (hashbrown) cassarole" for breakfast. It was delicious! (thanks Laura) And to our family get-together(s) I made baked beans, sweet potato cassarole, and sausage balls. Yummy! Everyone ate it up. I never mentioned that I "modified" the recipes to be gluten...
  8. Thanks for the replies...I'm really having a heck of a time with my health right now (mainly my autoimmune disorders). Anyway, I am reading your responses, even if I'm not posting as much. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, God Bless. -Julie
  9. I have heard that Pamelas mix is good too I wanted to point out that I originally stated the wrong company...the waffles came from Kinnikinnick not B-R-Mill. Happy Baking. -Julie
  10. I also just purchased the kinnikinnick waffles. They were excellent! I've already eaten a whole box and it's not even the weekend yet! They are crispy, hold together well, and make the kitchen smell very good. I eat cocoa pebbles cereal some mornings, and gluten-free Granola cereal other mornings. I also eat bananas/fruit with fruit juice...
  11. Hey there everyone, I just made my "big" quarterly order of gluten-free flours and products from several of my favorite companies. Most of what I order is simply to bake with...i.e. flours, etc. But, this time I splurged and purchased Kinnikinnick gluten-free waffles. Oh my goodness, they were the closest thing to eggos I've had since going gluten...
  12. Hey everyone, It has been awhile since I posted; I've had some health issues. Glad to be back! I just purchased g/fava bean flour from B-R-Mill. Now, I know from experience that flours taste different, and I've read that the bean flours can have a particularly strong flavor. When I read the label this flour looks so nutritious (high in fiber...
  13. Oh Amanda, (((Hugs))) I'm so sorry to hear this. I know this must be so difficult for everyone in your family. I will definitely keep you and your loved ones in my prayers! Please keep us posted on how your little niece is doing. Peace and blessings to your family. -Julie
  14. (((Hugs))) to you and your whole family, Paula. You all are in my thoughts and prayers. Peace and blessings to you all -Julie
  15. Bumpity, bump, bump 1. When a gluten free recipe calls for unflavored gelatin, you can find the product on the baking aisle near the Jello products. It is very inexpensive, and I believe the Knox brand is gluten-free (someone correct me if I'm wrong). Currently, I use the store-brand because I verified it was gluten-free. 2. It is very...
  16. You know, certain foods can trigger certain emotions...just as certain smells, etc. can do. Think of a perfume that your mom put on all the time. After a while, smelling the fragrance on someone else may make you think of your mother. Or, if your father (or spouse) where's a certain aftershave...you get the same effect. When I see, smell, or think...
  17. Awesome, thank you for the link! I'll definitely try it. I did try to make yeast rolls earlier this month; not sure what I did wrong, but they were horrible. I'm glad I asked this question early...gives me plenty of practice time! Blessings and baking. -Julie
  18. Good luck to you with your "plum" situation! I currently smush them up for my baby boy. Do you know anyone with an infant/toddler? Maybe a plum smoothie? Personally, I would just cut the plums off at the source...tell the neighbors you don't need any more. Or don't answer the door when they knock...or chop down the tree...or donate a bag of plums...
  19. Oh, good grief! So sorry you are going through all of this. I hope the situation is resolved quickly. I hate having to dispute companies or banks; I've done both, once over a pitiful $20 bucks and the next time for $1600 dollars. My thoughts are with you; It tics me off more than I can say when companies don't do business correctly or ethically. ...
  20. Thank you so much for the info. I looked up a company called "pods" that is basically the same thing as UPack. Pods does not come to my area, but I will try Upack too! Thank you for the support and advice Donna ...I tell you, I'm learning a lot in this process. Good luck manda! I hope you and John find your dream home. Congratulations on...
  21. Hey Susie, Thank you...I definitely need "foolproof" recipes in the kitchen. I am getting quite good at making muffins, but I still crave that loaf of bread. Blessings. Julie
  22. Personally, I still have days where I hate having celiac, and I have been diagnosed for years. I would be telling a lie if I said I was comfortable with it all the time. With every loaf of bread I make that deflates or crumbles or turns to a brick, I do feel frustrated. But I keep trying...and enjoy trying to cook and bake. I am SO thankful for a...
  23. Oh Patti, (((Hugs))) The first hurdle for us was finding a buyer....like you said, it has been a slow market. I honestly thought that finding a home would be the easy part! I'm so nieve. Our current house is the first home in my name (makes sense since I have lived in college dorms for so many years). I never expected this whirlwind of questions...
  24. Hi everyone, I'm just venting...please feel free to ignore this thread. In ten days, we are supposed to close on the sale of our house. Assuming this does occur, we need a house to move into...herein lies the problem. My hubby and I can't find a house, and we only have about a week left before we must move out of this one! I've...
