  1. Oh my Gosh, Collette, that sounds delicious! Thanks for the recipe! I've been wanting something "original." My mother made a crustless quiche for Christmas (along with her other "traditional food") ...no one ate the quiche but me, but oh man, it was good! Take care! -Jules
  2. Pet peeve of the day... Computer hackers who can't spell. These idiots invade our computer and steal our personal information so they must have some brains to figure out how to do it. The question is: Why can't they spell? Tough luck...their loss is our gain. I've decided it's fairly easy to decipher which message in my e-mail account are real...
  3. Personally, My favorites from previous AI seasons are Kelly, Clay, Carrie, and Josh Greyson (country singer-I think that's his name)...he was the military guy with a new baby who challenged Simon to do push-ups on stage from season 1. The person I think got screwed by voters was Tamiarah (sp?) from season 1 (I think). The guy dressed in...
  4. What a neat idea Cara! I'll have to remember that. When I make grits, even if they are lumpy, I save the leftovers and add a little breakfast meat and fry the grits the next morning. It is fun to experiment with cooking! Sorry the original didn't turn out as planned, but it sounds like you made the best of it! -Julie
  5. Hey everyone O.k....I'm confused....how could mamaw get in trouble for bumping a post? She was trying to help someone. Is there a forum rule I don't understand? I thought mamaw's input was very helpful to this thread. I wish I could help with the croissants. Like HiDee, I have also used Progresso mushroom soup in place of many of the...
  6. Welcome to the forum Mamasaidso! (l like your screen name) I thought I would also add that Betty Hagman and Carol Fenster are two excellent cookbook authors. I love baking cakes, cookies, brownies, muffins, ahhhhh...I'm hungry If you and your daughter are ever craving anything specific, post a topic about it. Usually, plenty of people...
  7. Sure, I'll post. If you're cf, you may not be able to make this unless there are nondairy substitutions. The Lady at the Superbowl party Artichoke Dip Recipe: 8oz. package cream cheese 1C sourcream 1C grated parmasean cheese 1 Can artichokes: standard can size (15oz?) not premarinated/drained well A few dashes of tabasco sauce ...
  8. Well everyone, A big thank you to all who responded to my previous thread! I used everyone's advise. I used Deboles (sp?) corn noodles I boiled them (adding a little salt and a drip or two of oil) and watched closely, adding one minute at a time until they were done. I drained and rinsed Whala! Spaghetti with gluten-free elbow mac. noodles...
  9. Hey guys, I went to a Superbowl party last night, and someone brought a delicious artichoke dip (I'm sure spinich could be used as a substitute). Anyway, it is gluten-free without any adjustments to the recipe. Anyone interested? If so, I'll post. -Julie
  10. Hi Marcia! There are numerous brands of gluten-free bread mixes. You may want to try another brand of mix; you are not the only one unimpressed by the taste of the Bob RM mix. I am actually not the best person to advise you on bread machines. I could never get my bread to turn out with the correct consistency or taste good. However, MANY others on...
  11. Isn't if funny how one thought triggers a whole strand of thoughts (often unrelated to what you were originally pondering). For instance, I was reading this gluten thread and it ended up making me think of illegal drugs. I'll tell ya why. I saw a special (Dateline, Discovery, TLC, take your pick...I can't remember what channel now). They were...
  12. Looks like we have four chronic food sniffers and one candle sniffer. A few days ago I was at my mother's house and she had bought a bag of whole grain "specialty" bread. I just had to sniff...and then once more...oh, what the heck, a third time... And then, my craving was gone and I ate corn chips. Hang in there bobohead (Your screen name...
  13. Thanks so much myst! I'm glad you started posting...welcome! I need to buy some of the ingredients, but this is a recipe I will definitely print and try! Before I went gluten-free, I used to eat rye bread quite frequently. Since this time, I've kept myself distracted with other breads. But now, my rye craving can't be denied! Happy...
  14. Oh, I LOVE cin./raisin bread! I also love country/southern biscuits, cheese bread, zuchinni muffins...yummy. Riceguy, I was wondering about the caraway seed. I was going to google it yesterday to confirm it was gluten-free. I'll gladly take your advice! I wasn't sure if I'd get any responses to this thread; I'm so tickled you all...
  15. Thanks ladies! Ya'll are awesome I think I may order both brands since they come so highly recommended! I may go ahead and stock up on some other food too...hate to spend the money, but I still can't find my dam* cookbooks. (excuse my language) Collette, Thank you darling. Happy gluten-free baking...I'm going cybershopping...
  16. Hi guys, I'm soooo craving rye bread...oh, I used to love it. Anyone have a recipe that remindes you of "the real thing." I used to eat those onion hamburger-type buns too. (I think they are made by Pepperidge Farm Bakery)...they have black flakes of onion on top. Anyone know what I'm talking about? I would really appreciate any recipes...
  17. OMG, that sounds just like my grandmother! She's such a hoot. Before my grandfather passed away, he gave her a gun to protect herself from burglars. Well, she tried one night...and nearly shot my cousin! Kelly, Didn't I tell ya I write country songs? HA!!! Actually, I just have a nack for rhyming. Come on...give me any two words, I'll...
  18. O.K. people...here goes... PHART>>>>>>>> who did that? Wasn't me. A lifetime of digestive problems makes it easy to look so innocent, yet be quite pleased at leaving everything in the Produce Dept. at Kroger wilted and dead. On one occasion, I accidently hit the Produce man, poor guy...he never saw it comin'...just an innocent...
  19. Hey guys, I'd like to join this thread. Did I miss anything? (well...aside from the five hundred, plus, pages) -Julie
  20. I have a completely ignorant question: What is Agave Nectar? I'm curious...always looking to try something new! -Julie
  21. Kelly, Janet, and everyone (HUG) I, too, lose receipts, money, and gift cars (as if I have any money to waste). Oh, and I also lose toenail clippers! (which gives my husband an excuse to blame his ugly feet on me!) Thank you so much for the recipe and recipe links! I need to pick up yeast and gelatin at the store. I did more unpacking...
  22. Almost all of us face this decision at some point...it's a very personal decision. I have my own cabnit for my gluten-free foods, and my own toaster oven. I keep plenty of clorox wipes, etc. on hand to wipe down countertops regularly. There is gluten in my house; however, when I am cooking dinner (our one "family" meal), it is always gluten-free...
  23. Thanks for the tip! I tried another company's hamburger bun...it's been awhile so I have no idea which brand...but it was horrible and I decided if I was going to eat meat, I'd just eat it bunless. I've never ordered Glutino products; this will be a whole new line of food to try! Thanks for the suggestion. -Julie
  24. HA! You are both doing great! Step 1: Admitting you have a problem Hello, my name is Julie. I'm a cookbook loser. I have recently destoyed perfectly harmless food because of my disorganization. I need a support person for the times I am weak...Carol Fenster would do. I think her pizza recipe would help.
  25. Hi and Welcome! I know exactly what you are talking about when you first experience Whole Foods or a large farmers market. I had never seen anything like it, but I had a blast sorting through all of their products. (I'm usually a Kroger girl too). I ate Amy's enchiladas for the first month I was gluten free; they are very good, but around...
