Just thought that instead of griping (for once) I would state something that I'm thankful for. I am SO thankful that Swedish Fish are gluten free. I used to love Twizzlers and Red Vines, gluten and more gluten. So thank you Swedish Fish for letting me get my gummie candy fix!!

Have a great day all!

And Jelly Belly sour jelly beans! And Dove chocolate!

Who said there is nothing to eat on a gluten-free diet?

Sign me up for Jelly Belly and Swedish Fish please! I remember an early day in my diagnosis I was subbing a class and at lunch time I was wandering around the bookstore when I went in to buy a drink just staring at all the snacks and candy I couldn't have. Then I saw fish. It was almost like I heard angels singing when I flipped the package over.

But wait...there's lots more candy! And this is by no means a complete list. I understand there is gluten-free licorice from mail order, too.

I've seen some of those lists - but GASP, did you say gluten free licorice? Have you tried it? Is it good? I'm so excited LOL

Welcome to the forum, @yellowstone! The most common ones seem to be dairy (casein), oats, eggs, soy and corn. "Formed" meat products (because of the "meat glue" used to hold their shape) is a problem for some. But it can be almost anything on an individual basis as your sensitivity to rice proves, since rice is uncommonly a "cross reactor" for celiacs. Some celiacs seem to not do well with any cereal grains.

What foods can trigger a response in people with gluten sensitivity? I've read that there are foods that, although they don't contain gluten, can cause problems for people with gluten sensitivity because they contain proteins similar to gluten that trigger a response in the body. I've seen that other cereals are included: corn, rice... also chicken, casein. I would like to know what other foods can cause this reaction, and if you have more information on the subject, I would like to know about it. Right now, I react very badly to rice and corn. Thank you.
