Reactions To Ciproflaxin Or Fluconazole?

Hi.  I took Cipro (Cobalt mfg)  last night for a UTI...and flucanozole (Ivax/Teva mfg).  I feel horrible this morning!!!  Does anyone know if it might contain gluten?  I tried calling both mfg, but they are closed for the weekend.  I am being tortured...just trying to see if it's the medication, since I'm due to take it again.  Can anyone out there help?  Thank you.

Might want to check this list?  Maybe the meds bother you and it has nothing to do with gluten?

Thank you for your help.  I checked it, and it says Cipro, but does not list it's generic equivalents.  Bummed...

Call the pharmacy they will be able to tell you.  I get all my meds at Walmart and the pharmacist always checks mine for me.

Thank you.  We use Walgreens, and they are not usually helpful since they just read the ingredient list looking for it.  I did that already, but the pharmacists can't tell me whether the main ingredient is derived from a process of gluten as secondary.  Those ingredients are not required to be listed, or whether they run it on equipment that has had gluten.  I am super sensitive, so the pharmacist is no help.  Thank you so much for trying though:)

Please read the drug sheet provided by the manufacturer.  It should have been provided with the drug by your pharmacist. If not, it's available on-line.  This drug (Cipro and it's class of fluoroquinolones) has a black box warning (FDA's sternest warning)  which means there are significant side effects.   The worse side effect is spontaneous snapping/ruptured tendons!  I will never take this drug again (given after my gallbladder surgery)  as I developed neuropathies from it.  The side effects can last and develop for years.  Please do some research on this drug.    

 

I had no side effects from the anti-fungal you're taking (my liver was happy).

I had a bad reaction to Cipro as well, turned red all over like a lobster and my doctor

told me never to take a quinolone/flouro antibiotic again. Could be just the drug?

      Yes, some people do get withdrawal from gluten but gluten withdrawal doesn't usually cause gut pain. Maybe more like general body aches and discomfort. We have articles on gluten withdrawal on this forum. You might do a search for them. Applesauce is very acidic and some brands have added vitamin C (ascorbic acid) which makes them more acidic.       Do you or anyone know alot about ibuprofen I wasn't sure if I was eating too much apple sauce. Something is making my pain so much worse I'm referring to the intense pins and needles in my feet and lower legs. Jaw actually has tardive dystonia and muscle spasms throughout my back Almost like an opposite effect that a pain reliever...

      We were flabergasted that the owner would not acknowledge a $50 e-gift card I purchased for my celiac wife. My wife tried to open it in the store and was informed there had been a system change and they could not find the record. No worries, she was told, just talk to management. Six months later, and numerous absurd back and forths, and the owner literally informs me there have been "bad actors", so she can't make good on this lost gift card. In other words, she accused me of lying and committing fraud... over $50! Please be careful with your orders and purchases here.

We have articles on gluten withdrawal on this forum. You might do a search for them. Applesauce is very acidic and some brands have added vitamin C (ascorbic acid) which makes them more acidic. This can damage the stomach lining if you eat it too often. Especially if your stomach lining is already compromised. Ibuprofen inhibits the body's ability to rebuild the stomach's protective mucosal lining. That's why it can cause peptic ulcers. As strange as it may sound, low level irritation/inflammation stimulates the body to rebuild the stomach lining. There are two steps in this rebuilding process known as COX 1 and COX 2. Ibuprofen represses both COX 1 and COX 2. Celecoxcib, a prescription anti inflammatory, inhibits only COX 2, making it less likely to cause damage to the gut lining.

Whatever is going on seems to be worsening  Do people get a withdrawal effect from gluten?  It's extremely painful 😖  I'll post that question or research on the site  Thank you everyone for responding
