Diet Coke And Other Coca Cola Products

I've read and seen reports saying Diet Coke and other Coca Cola products are gluten-free but anothers are saying it has gluten in it because of the Caramel Color in it. I don't drink pop a lot but I'd like to know for future reference. I was diagnosed with Celiac 2 and 1/2 weeks ago!

The caramal color thing is a myth that won't go away. No need to worry about them.

Shadow posted just before me...yep...myth and Coke is most definitely gluten-free :D

Most (if not all) caramel color in this country is derived from corn.

Coke with a splash of rum huh? I may have  to try that!!  My hubbs likes his Spiced rum ... He drinks it with 7 up ten.. Have you tried the 7 up 10? It is pretty good but I am not a fan of diet stuff!! Aspartame pffffttt!!

My daughter seems to react to colour 150 so I stay away from anything that looks like it might contain it.  Haven't looked at coke because I won't let her have caffeinated drinks yet at 9 so it's still a couple of years away from being explored.  I don't drink it myself so have never felt the need to look more into it, but she can't have Sars.  She's sensitive to a few colours and preservatives.  I can't have anything with MSG because it brings on asthma as well so she hasn't had it because it isn't something that makes an appearance in our home.

EWWWWW MSG!  My mother gets migraines from it... I used to get a lot of headaches when I was younger, so my mother suggested I cut out MSG, been a whole new person (when it comes to headaches) since!

As for sodas, I haven't come across one with gluten, and I was very careful at first with sodas, only drank sprite and things like that...(Or sodas with the caramel coloring that clearly stated gluten free... I fell in love with Blue Sky brand drinks) but now I drink diet coke and regular pepsi just fine... And I'm pretty sensitive.  Like someone else said, most color coloring here is corn based.  Actually, our sodas are corn based period... hence the reason why sodas here taste different from the rest of the world that makes their sodas sugar based.

I used to think it was MSG that sent me to the restroom, seems it wasn't ..... darned Gluten!!

If you can find Mexican Coke, that's sugar-sweetened, no corn syrup.  We have a little produce store that carries odd international things and the Mexican Coke is one of our prime reasons for going there!

We're in Australia so it's probably different here anyway.

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
