Here's a link for dining cards. They have several styles to chose from and you can enter in your information and print them out. :)

I got some dining cards and they are so cool. Cant remember what site I got them from but they came in a set of 6. They are in different languages depending on what type of restaraunt you're at.

Dont know when I'll ever use them...I'm not going to attempt it until I'm feeling 100% or close to it. The last time I ate out was in April and I ended up in the ER...that was pre-gluten-free but it was definately scary.

I got my cards yesterday and just in time to go out with the family to celebrate my mother's 84th b'day. And they work! I handed mine to my server and said I was thinking about the beef tips entree. He came back and said that the chef didn't think it would work for me because the meat came from their meat source with flavor/tenderizers already injected and so he couldn't guarantee them to be gluten-free! and that he recommended the chicken or fish. It was SO very nice to eat out without the usual worries in the back of my head "am I going to be okay later?" :)

Sorry, I think I got you mixed up with another poster.

I hadn't been eating gluten free before having the antibody test done. I started eating gluten free after having the test done because the gastro PA told me to eat gluten-free for 6 months. I'm now 3 months in.

I tend to agree with RMJ. Your doc took the reasonable and practical approach to diagnosis. All things considered, it was the right way to go. However, if you have first degree relatives that show signs of possible celiac disease, urge them to get formally tested before they start the gluten free diet.

It sounds like you have a very reasonable GI doctor, who diagnosed you based on family history and symptoms after eating gluten. I would consider you lucky! The other option would be to make yourself very sick by doing weeks of a gluten challenge prior to an endoscopy.
