Symptoms Of Dark Circles Under Eyes

I have been diagnosed with celiac a few weeks ago, and I have been on a gluten free diet since. I have noticed I have had symptoms of the dh rash over the last year, anxiety/depression and the skin under my eyes becoming hollow and sunken in, also dark circles have developed. Since going gluten free I noticed the skin under my eyes is not improving if not getting worse. Is this a sign that I may be allergic to another food which I do not know about?  I am also on medication called dapsone to calm down the itching and reduce immflamation of the rash

My dark circles are genetic, I got them from my dad. As far as gluten and other foods triggering them to worsen, I will be paying attention to see if there is a correlation! I certainly notice the dark circles more after a severe allergy/asthma attack so , I really am curious to figure this out!

Raccoon eyes and a crease in the nose are often signs of allergies. It can be genetic too or related to the damages of celiac disease. Be patient, it takes time to heal!

I agree. It may take some time for those circles to go. I do recall that my friend's son had dark circles from a dairy intolerance.

 

Perhaps if you removed diary for a bit to see if that is a cause? Hang in there.

 

The healing process is slow, but steady and you need to give your body some time to rebound.

      Hello, good afternoon!   I apologize, I didn’t see a notification and I’m just reading this. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and the link. Yes you are absolutely right, even so trying to get a response from them has been extremely difficult. They don’t answer but I will your practice of “guilty until proven innocent.”   I like and have a sense of trust here in this website, everyone is honest and thoughts are raw. The mutual understanding is amazing!   thank you Scott!

      I'd go with a vodka tonic, but that's just me😉

      That and my nutritionist also said that drinking cider is one of the worst drink choices for me, given that I have candida overgrowth.  She said the combination of the alcohol and sugar would be very likely to worsen my candida problem.  She suggested that if I drink, I go for clear vodka, either neat or with a splash of cranberry.   So in summary, I am giving ciders a rest.  Whether it's a gluten risk or sugars and yeast overgrowth, its just not worth it.

      While plain, pure tea leaves (black, green, or white) are naturally gluten-free, the issue often lies not with the tea itself but with other ingredients or processing. Many flavored teas use barley malt or other gluten-containing grains as a flavoring agent, which would be clearly listed on the ingredient label. Cross-contamination is another possibility, either in the facility where the tea is processed or, surprisingly, from the tea bag material itself—some tea bags are sealed with a wheat-based glue. Furthermore, it's important to consider that your reaction could be to other substances in tea, such as high levels of tannins, which can be hard on the stomach, or to natural histamines or other compounds that can cause a non-celiac immune response. The best way to investigate is to carefully read labels for hidden ingredients, try switching to a certified gluten-free tea brand that uses whole leaf or pyramid-style bags, and see if the reaction persists.
