Does anyone know if the Mongolie grill is a safe place to dine at? Any experiences? I live in Canada, so not sure if there's a Mongolies Grill in the U.S.

The Calgary Celiac Association has The Mongolie Grill on their list of recommended restaurants. If you tell them you need a gluten free meal, they will give you a laminated menu that tells what items you can/cannot have. This is mostly sauces and soup. The same list has allergy info for peanuts and shellfish and I can't remember what else, but I was impressed. Then they'll bring you special soy sauce for the table. I guess you'll have to make sure to have them clean the grill before they cook your food. When we went, they were cleaning the cooking surface as we approached, and I told the guy to cook my son's food first and by itself and then to cook the rest of ours. He didn't even bat an eye.

That was four months ago, right after my son was diagnosed. He had/has no classic symptoms, so I can't tell you if he felt fine afterward or not. He didn't say anything, but he did eat it all.

Thanks 2boys4me!

My neighbour has been saying we should meet for lunch for months but I've put it off being worried about getting ill. I'm also a vegetarian so, there's limited choices on eating out. Actually haven't eaten out since my son and I have been diagnosed with gluten intolerence.

I've always wanted to try the Mongolie Grill and we'll be going next week. Thanks for the post. I'm not worried anymore and I can enjoy a meal out.

Your response on this matter is what I expect. You’ve had a similar episode years ago, but this one is lasting longer!

I'd like to clarify: Is the pain you describe in the area just below your chest constant, or does it only appear when you start moving?
