Wheat barley and milk/eggs intolerance

Hi all

I recently done a food intolerance test and the results came back saying I was milk and eggs intolerant and also wheat and barley intolerant. Gluten it seems is ok. I found this difficult as most stores and products are aimed at people looking for gluten free stuff.

i was wondering is there anyone in the same position as me as I would love some advice.

would it be worth doing a second test to confirm the results ?

Thanks

niki

I wouldn't spend anymore money on unproven " food intolerance tests".

Gluten free foods are wheat and barley free

Karen is right.  Do the research.  Have you been tested for celiac disease? Here is more info.....

I react to both wheat and barley.  I've opted to just go completely gluten free, for the sake of simplicity and my sanity.  I don't have a diagnosis of celiac disease, but I strongly suspect it.  Unfortunately, I'm not willing to endure the misery of staying on gluten long enough to pursue further testing.  I just know I need to avoid the gluten grains, so I do.

Sorry, I think I got you mixed up with another poster.

I hadn't been eating gluten free before having the antibody test done. I started eating gluten free after having the test done because the gastro PA told me to eat gluten-free for 6 months. I'm now 3 months in.

I tend to agree with RMJ. Your doc took the reasonable and practical approach to diagnosis. All things considered, it was the right way to go. However, if you have first degree relatives that show signs of possible celiac disease, urge them to get formally tested before they start the gluten free diet.

It sounds like you have a very reasonable GI doctor, who diagnosed you based on family history and symptoms after eating gluten. I would consider you lucky! The other option would be to make yourself very sick by doing weeks of a gluten challenge prior to an endoscopy.
