gluten-free Beer replacement

Hi Everyone,

I have a recipe for chocolate waffles and the last ingredient is 1/2 cup of gluten free beer.  I neither have this nor like the taste but can't think of any substitutions.  The recipe has coconut milk as the main liquid ingredient.  I was wondering if plain water would do the trick.  Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I lIke gluten-free beer, but I would probably just use water.

Thanks, Kareng.  I think that is what I will do.

Maybe coke / gluten-free ginger ale would replace the sugar and acidity?

Do you think that is what the beer will be adding to the recipe, sugar and acidity?  I might try water first as I dont drink any sodas, but if the waffles don't work out well I will try your suggestion.  Thanks for your idea.

Or try a different recipe.

You are looking for carbonation and /or flavor.  Soda water will do the trick.  The bubbles will help the waffles rise.  Need more sugar?  try soda as the others suggested.  I like using a yeast base for my waffles.

Going on a cruise next week and I’m a celiac. Bought a bottle of GliandinX. Should I just take two tablets per day as a precaution? Never tried this before!! Any help is appreciated!!

Good point, as thyroid conditions are more common in those with celiac disease: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/celiac-disease-amp-related-diseases-and-disorders/thyroid-pancreatic-disorders-and-celiac-disease/
