Possible dh

Hi, I believe I may have DH, it became really bad about 3 years ago when I had bilateral large red lesions, blisters and the most unbelievable itch sometimes without a rash. I get it on my feet legs head under my arms and arms, it usually starts with a prickle or stinging sometimes I see or feel blisters but I always get large red lesions which itch like mad for a while start to fade then restart itching etc, I have tried all sorts of creams to no avail. I also had bowel problems a negative coeliac blood screen but diagnosed gluten intolerant,

I've been gluten free for 15 months the skin rashes all went after 3 to 4 months until I got caught out with hidden gluten twice and all the symptoms were back, 2 months later and nearly gone, doctor has now referred me to dermatology as she thinks it is possibly dh.

I'm guessing I will need to eat gluten for testing but I don't want to start yet as its a possible 12 week wait for an appointment.

Does anyone else get these large lesions? Does your rash leave scars mine start off purple, I have been taking fexofenadine which I'm not sure has helped or the rash has just faded

Sorry for a long post so many questions x tia

Yes, large lesions are possible. Yes, they leave scars -- colors range from purplish to tan to white - they will all fade away eventually.

Your response on this matter is what I expect. You’ve had a similar episode years ago, but this one is lasting longer!

I'd like to clarify: Is the pain you describe in the area just below your chest constant, or does it only appear when you start moving?

Shingles is dormant and related to chicken pox when one has had in the past.Shingles comes out when stress is heightened.I had my 3rd Shingles in 2023.

Thank you for the links to the articles.  Interesting reading. I'll be telling my brother in law because he has a lot of pain
