Gluten free no beans chili

As someone who suffers from celiac I am always trying to find new foods and flavors that jive with my life style.  A slightly odd craving that has struck me is one for no bean chili.  Has anyone had any success locating a commercially available chili (no beans)?  I have had zero success!  Thanks in advance.

No, but here is a recipe:

Chili Texas

Cook ground Chuck at 275 in a skillet

Remove beef and cook diced celery onions and red bell peppers in the same skillet

Use bacon grease for oil

Add Fresh diced cerrano (not too much) peppers

Add back ground beef and diced bacon

Rehydrate and blend In a blender dried ancho and castcadel chilis and add to skillet

Add fresh diced tomatoes and canned diced tomatoes and GF Worchester sauce and water

Simmer for 45 minutes to an hour

Thanks, I travel a lot so cooking doesn’t always work for me but thanks for the recipe.

I found a few. The first is Hormel which says it doesn't contain any of the 8 major allergens but it does contain oatmeal & it doesn't say those are purity protocol oats so you might want to think about that one before you jump in feet first.

https://www.target.com/p/hormel-no-beans-chili-15-oz/-/A-13220941?ref=tgt_adv_XS000000&AFID=google_pla_df&fndsrc=tgtao&CPNG=PLA_Grocery%2BEssentials%2BShopping&adgroup=SC_Grocery&LID=700000001170770pgs&network=g&device=c&location=9011467&ds_rl=1246978&ds_rl=1247077&ds_rl=1246978&gclid=Cj0KCQjwhPfkBRD0ARIsAAcYycEvVS2CdImSxN5FZykezs2RRMchop34Vy-gazHrUDExQKk3fhApBTMaAhqgEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

Wolf brand is made by ConAgra, a trusted brand for us. I don't see any suspicious ingredients & unless you can't have soy, this looks okay.

Then there is Dennison's.

So I did some checking on hormel.  I ran into some concerns when I saw oatmeal and also the wheat protein (which I havnt really came up a definitive answer to) I was in no way willing to take the risk.  Similar problem with the wolf brand (oatmeal). Used to love oatmeal but no arch enemy unless certified gluten-free and is a close friend of cross contamination.  I love to cook, I have never ever put oatmeal in my chili so not sure on their angle.  I am about to look at the Dennison’s as I am not familiar with it at all.  Thanks for the input!

Ha, Denison’s isn’t available with at least 100 miles of my state!  Looks like it another ConAgra product, label has nothing concerning on it but it’s missing the Golden I promise I won’t make you sick stamp gluten-free.  May have to keep this one under consideration.

Definitely stay away from the wheat protein.  It will cause a gluten reaction.  I am with you on the oatmeal being a problem too.  Personally I avoid soy also.

Oh gosh, I can't believe I missed that wheat protein. I just kinda stopped when I saw oatmeal & since I can't do oats, even purity oats, I quit looking. YIKES!

Been there done that every now and then!  Luckily I finally catch it just in time.

Consider Carroll Shelby’s Chili Kit.  Just purchase ground beef and follow the directions.  You can always add tomatoes, beans (from dry, sorted and washed well before cooking) or more chilis.  This mix is certified gluten-free and is probably available through Walmart, Target or Amazon.  I buy it in my local grocery store.

It freezes well.  My kid takes Chili in her thermos for her school lunch.

Cool, thank you!

You could probably order Denison’s on Walmart.com or Amazon

Dane Rookie

I think I can order direct from Dennison just havnt decided if I want to make myself a guinea pig without the gluten-free stamp of approval.

I grew up on Hormel Chili as a camping or emergency staple (Mom does not want to cook).  We served it over corn chips or pasta.  I still stock my pantry with Hormel Chili for the same reasons.  It is a meal my kid can prepare.

The Hormel Chili with beans is labeled GLUTEN FREE.  Even the newer “healthier” version is labeled gluten free.  I never buy the meat-only version, so I never looked at the label.

If you like beans, go for it.  It should have less than 20 ppm per the label.  I think the manufacturer is filling the FDA guidelines.  I have not eaten it in a while, but hubby has.  I was never glutened in the past.  Unfortunately I have issues with peppers, onions and garlic.....ugh!

Good to know, thanks!  In conjunction with celiac, I am now on an ultra low fiber diet because they think I might have UC as well so unfortunately beans are out for me as of now.

My UC flared to starches, carbs, sugars, but not straight fiber. Beans, Spices, Grains, Fruit, Sugar, anything with starches. I slowly removed stuff til I was down to a Paleo Based Ketogenic diet. Amusingly I found a ketogenic blogger  "ketogenicgirl" who uses the diet to treat her UC.
I find I am fine with nuts, and seeds with high fiber ratio, but any sugars or something spicy/acidic and I see blood 8-12 hours later, and sometimes pain, distention, and gas.

Few simple cooking ideas, get a LEAN grass-fed beef or turkey, and brown with 1-2 cloves minced garlic, then add in your seasonings start with 1/2 tsp cumin,1/2 oregano, 1tsp chili powder you can up the chili powder if you need to I go up to 1-2tbsp for family but I can not handle that) along with 4oz of tomato sauce, and refill with water 4oz and add that in, Stir it together and turn to low to simmer for 30-45mins stirring occasionally.
For seasonings, Spicely Organics are all certified gluten-free, and The Spice House says they are gluten-free.

>.> Sometimes I cheat, I just get oooflavors Chili flavor drops and add 10 drops to my eggs or omelet before cooking to make it taste like chili and to worry about the gut issues.

Thank you so much for your input.  I have the same symptoms, but my triggers seem to be a little different but geez there is no common factor for anyone. Thanks again as any input is welcome for sure.

Hello. If you have Texas Tailgate Chili in your stores it is Gluten Free according to their website. It has no beans and no ingredients that may have gluten.  I have tried it and no issues so I have my rv and house stocked with it. Rest of family likes it also.

A lot of people erroneously think soy is a problem for people needing to be on a gluten-free diet. Trents' comment above speaks to some celiacs also having a sensitivity to soy, but this is just some of them.  However, soy sauce is something anyone following a gluten-free diet should be wary of. Many soy sauces contain wheat, which is where the soy/gluten confusion comes into play. There is gluten-free soy sauce available, just read labels to be sure. I use San-J Tamari, which is gluten-free but does contain soy, in place of regular soy sauce.

I have many of those same CMP irregularities from time to time, with the exception that my potassium is always normal. What I can tell you is that it is normal for everything not to be normal when you get a CMP done. I used to get a CBC and CMP done annually and there were always some things out of spec. Docs don't get excited about it for the most part. It depends on the particular parameter (some are more important than others) and it depends on how far out of range it is. Docs also look for trends over time as opposed to isolated snapshots of this or that being out of spec at any given time. Our body chemistry is a dynamic entity.

Not sure what you mean by "soy being like gluten". Soy does not cause a celiac reaction. However, soy is one of the foods that many celiacs don't tolerate well for other reasons. Eggs, corn and dairy are also on that list of foods that many of those with celiac disease seem to be sensitive to. But that doesn't mean that all celiacs are sensitive to any one of them or all of them. It just means it's common. You may not have a problem with soy at all. Celiac disease is not a food allergy. It is an autoimmune response to the ingestion of gluten that creates inflammation in the small bowel lining that, over time, damages that lining.
