HI!

Just wondering if sushi is okay if I don't get the imitation meat. I'm starving and going to lunch soon. Since I just took nuts out of my diet (for now) I need something to fill me!

yes go ahead! just keep in mind that some use soy sauce in their rolls so be sure to ask. (for example, i once got sushi from whole foods and it made me sick- they actually put soy sauce in ALL of their rolls but stupidly i didnt read the ingredients first!)

Order regular sushi (Nigiri) and get either salmon, regular tuna, fatty tuna (toro), shrimp, octopus (my favorite), halibut, snapper, ono, etc

You can also get sashimi

NO SOY SAUCE

NO SPICY ANYTHING (usually mixed with soy sauce)

NO MACKEREL

NO EEL

The way the ingredients are listed on the Whole Foods and Trader Joes sushi rolls is really confusing. When they list soy sauce, I had always thought that they were referring to the soy sauce packet that comes with the rolls...but I guess they put soy sauce in the rolls as well? How annoying!!!!

Well, I got it today before I got to see any posts. I took that green stuff out from the side of the package (that spicy green stuff).......but when they put it in the bag, everything got tossed around, so before I took it off, there were some tiny tiny tiny tiny specs on the sushi. I tried to take it all off..........am I going to get sick now? I'm scared!

Spicy Green Stuff --- Wasabi (Japanese Horseradish)

99% of places use powdered wasabi -- the thickening agent is normally mustad flour -- which is essentially dried mustard.

We have had debates on powedered wasabi on here before (whether or not it is gluten-free)...

I don't think I have ever reacted to it...

Everyday I'm learning new things, so everyday it's like a fresh start for me and this Celiac diet. I'm glad that I 99% didn't mess today up.

I'm glad you asked about this. I was wondering about the wasabi paste myself. Good to know. Now all I have to do is bring my own soy sauce and I'm good too. =)

Definitely starting the food diary! So many amazing advices. And it’s very scary. It really hits all our soft spots as well as our confidence system. Most doctors I went thought I was underage despite being in my late 20s. Right now I look like am I twelve, but is also this body that’s taking so much, so I might as well love it too! Guess there’s still a lot to celebrate and also heal 😌  Yes, I’ve been taking it! Just recently started taking a multivitamin supplement and separated vitamin D! I also took chewable Iron polymaltose for ferritin deficiency 2 months ago but was unable to absorb any of it.  Thank you again! Hearing such gentle words from the community makes my body and heart more patient and excited for the future.
