New Grist Beer

Holy Crap!

I have in my hand, a bottle. The bottle has beer in it. I am drinking it! For a long time, I have heard these stories of people finding a gluten free beer. Much to my shagrin, no distributers here in Colorado ever would carry one...

I found out a week ago that a Colorado distributer carries one, Lakefront Brewery. I stopped by the liquor store near my house on the way home, walked over to one of the larger beer coolers, and saw this big orange sign on the glass. "Gluten Free beer"

LakeFront Brewery, New Grist, is the beer.

Its pretty good, true, I haven't had a beer in quite some time... but this taste's alright. There are some beers that I still really miss, need to try to find red or an dark ale... but I'm happy.

Just had to share my joy!

Lakefront has a distributor that is based in Castle Rock, and the master brewer told me a month or 2 ago that they sell in most Whole Foods, and some local liquor stores. I usually go to Argonaut Liquor over on Colfax, but they don't have any gluten-free beers, which store did you get yours at?

i got mine at binny's. a large chain of liquor stores here in chicago.

This is frustrating -- I am trying to get stores and distributors to carry it and the darn company won't put it on their website...

Just curious but how much did you pay for the New Grist?

There is also Bards gluten beer and Red Bridge, which I believe Anheiser Busch distributes- the Red Bridge is truly delicious if you are looking for a red- reminds me of Killian's Irish Red or New Castle. I found these at Whole Foods and Ben's Liquor here in Reno, NV. =)

They may want to also eliminate other possible causes for your symptoms/issues and are doing additional tests.  Here is info about blood tests for celiac disease--if positive an endoscopy where biopsies of your intestinal villi are taken to confirm is the typical follow up.

In the Europe the new protocol for making a celiac disease diagnosis in children is if their tTg-IgA (tissue transglutaminase IgA) levels are 10 times or above the positive level for celiac disease--and you are above that level. According to the latest research, if the blood test results are at certain high levels that range between 5-10 times the reference range for a positive celiac disease diagnosis, it may not be necessary to confirm the results using an endoscopy/biopsy: Blood Test Alone Can Diagnose Celiac Disease in Most Children and Adults TGA-IgA at or Above Five Times Normal Limit in Kids Indicates Celiac Disease in Nearly All Cases No More Biopsies to Diagnose Celiac Disease in Children! May I ask why you've had so many past tTg-IgA tests done, and many of them seem to have been done 3 times during short time intervals?

@JettaGirl, "Coeliac" is the British spelling of "celiac". Same disease.

This may sound ridiculous but is this supposed to say Celiacs? I looked up Coeliacs because you never know, there’s a lot of diseases related to a disease that they come up with similar names for. It’s probably meant to say Celiacs but I just wanted to confirm.

I was told it was to see how much damage has been caused. But just told CT with contrast not any other name for it.
